I love pets. I love hearing about peoples pets and the stories behind them that often go beyond what is presented in their profiles. I was thinking about my own pets, and who is my favorite (and why), and then naturally I thought: well, what about everyone else on here?

So yeah. My question to you all is: of all your current pets, who is your favorite one? What inspired them? Why are they your favorite? Tell me all about the pet characters you're passionate about!

For me, my favorite is Tar. He's inspired by a creature I saw in my nightmares as a child. As an adult, I've changed his character to be someone sympathetic rather than scary, but the fact that the basis of his character is so gosh dang old makes him special in my eyes. Off-site I've been working on a novel that's basically an extended version of the story on his petpage.

Tell me about your own favorite pet! If you don't have a fave out of your characters, tell me about the one whose profile design you're most proud of. <3

Lei is my favorite. He was based on my first original character, and the inspiration behind the novel I'm writing. It sounds silly, but when you write about/work on a character for over 10 years, they start to seem like a real person to you. ...And Mary who's named after my mother who's basically the only reason I'm still alive and I can barely manage to take care of her now her health is failing and my job is fucking me over. ...But she's the only family I have as far as I'm concerned. :c

Kind of hard to choose. I'd say it probably changes depending on how I feel.

So, I'm going with Paper Witch. Witch is based on a dream I had. I also started to notice that I'd see him in other dreams even if he didn't have the same face I knew it was him. I kind of see him as a trickster since he can be considered a shapeshifter and as I added him to my other OCs they started to think of him as a pain in the ass.

He's also the first pet I put up a profile and story for. My friend encouraged me when I showed her what I wrote.

I'm also working on giving him a treasure of browser loading doom. lol

I have so many pets and a lot of them are deeply important to me, so that's a really hard question to ask. Like, as characters or just as the finished entities on this site?

Sariel's incredibly important to me for a ton of reasons, mostly because her whole presentation here is based off of a lot of spiritual stuff and themes in my life.

Amenominakanushi is similar in the spiritual significance, although I haven't really worked with them as deeply or as long as I have with Sariel-- but we'll just have to see, huh?

tl;dr i'm a polytheistic heathen and these are my two pets dedicated to the two higher entities i work with on a daily basis

There's also Nue, who just as a character has a whole lot of significance and meaning to me, has been around in my writing/interests/themes for a lot of the pivotal time in my life, and she's just.. utterly remarkable on the conceptual level. She's the walking and flying and slithering embodiment of basic human fear, the fear of the unknown and the dark and predation and all those things you can't quite make out in the distance (but they may be very dangerous). I love this character so, so much. I'd love to get her a custom overlay and redo her profile someday, maybe rewrite her story and tweak her treasure chest-- she's already won the spotlight so I can sort of do whatever at this point. <3

Finally, because I'm an indecisive fool, there's also Chara, who's close to my heart for a whole lot of reasons including but not limited to: being a huge initial link between a good friend and I, being an utterly delightful experiment of pet profile presentation and interactiveness, their character effectively being an exploration of the possibilities of human cruelty and intent... ... and perhaps just the sheer fact that one of the endings to their interactive story is absolutely hilarious to me. It's basically them getting fed up with the reader's choices before going "you know what? I've had enough of your BS and you're not gonna get what you want :)" before the whole profile blacks out on the next page. Usually you get smacked with a few pages of terrible realizations and horror before you get to that specific page, but in that one particular path, they just lose their patience and kick you to the void immediately. Their whole profile is just a bunch of delightful bullshit that ranges from mere story-telling about a troubled child to a fourth-wall-shattering conversation spawned of the reader's repeated decisions to act cruelly. I'm so, so proud of all of it.

It's kind of silly to say, but for me, it's my pet Capital! I snagged them off the pound two years ago, and they've been one of my best motivators to worldbuild and draw.

Creating their character has been a turning point in my creative world, and I'm super happy that I just... took a chance with a highly unpopular character type & instead of going with what would be more acceptable(? so to say), I went with the type of character that I love to read/watch, and that's how they became my most favorite character. :')

They helped me tons in motivating me to draw, try out new painting techniques, write and develop an important universe I have been building for years, and even helped me with my first animation ever. It's just... I'm so accustomed to drawing them & having something to always draw, without excuse, actually helps a ton, it turns out!

To be honest I can't really settle with one as my favorite cause I have so much pets and there is more than one that is really dear to me, to be honest I love all of my characters cause I did put a lot of heart and work in most of them and the more I work on a pet the more I get attached to them. So the question is extremly hard and I decided to choose 4 I am really fond of and I am most attached to.

Carus is the first one. He is one of my oldest characters and I have him for years now. He is the character I RP with and he has gone through a lot of shit and also nice moments. He has the most work put in and he is really dear to me. I actually could fill books with his story, which makes it hard to fit it on his profile =). Carus accompanies me nearly half of my live.

Bair has really grown to me. He is one of my newer characters but nontheless one of my most loved once. I really love how he evolves in the story I am writing about him.

Reynaud My beloved grumpy and arrogant Death Knight with a soft heart deep inside (Which he never would admit openly ^^). I really love this poor broken guy who tries to find a place in his world. I love WoW and I love Death Knights and he is the result out of it. I wanted to write a story about them, to show that there is still humanity in them and to show how I see them.

Phobos also exists for some years now. His real name is Ryan and was actually the name I wanted to use for him, but sadly it is taken and does not seem to clear any time soon, so I went with the name his father has given him as kind of alias. He is related to the Assassins Creed universe and my addiction to the Isu (The ones that came before) and Greek gods which is a reason why I love him so much (And yes I would kill for the pet name Ares to make his dad ^^).

Evance is probably my favorite. He's my oldest pet. Both he and Zorek are pets that I created on my old account that got deleted when clearings were still a thing, and I was so happy to come back a year or so later and find their names still free. His story and character has evolved a ton since those days, but it's finally finished now and I've been working on his TC rather steadily. He's my only pet with an actually complete/existant story. lol Never did get around to finishing his profile, but maybe someday.

Sycamore is my second favorite though. I have no idea where I'm going to take him story wise, but I just love that I even was able to snag this name. He's a Professor Sycamore fanpet. Sycamore is probably my favorite Pokemon professor so far. I know I want to make an overlay for him at some point, and his TC still needs a lot of work. I need ALL THE FRENCH THINGS for him. lol But I love him. <3

AND LASTLY (i say, after already posting 5 pets) i've been really feeling my boys matieu and emil for the past few months! writing matieu's story (going on 35 pages + another 10 of notes rip) is ridiculously fun?? it's a slow-paced """"atmospheric"""" slice of life and it's ridiculously self-indulgent lmao and the friendship between him and emil is really pure and writing about them is just really great okay

I don't know if I really have a favorite since like Thespian it changes quite a bit.

Huo, his story is one of the few pets I haven't changed since I first got him.

Bronte is meant to be my proxy pet, sort of a life I'd want to lead if I had the money and could move anywhere I wanted. I also modeled most of her character after myself personality wise so highly introverted, prefers animals to humans most of the time and well, a book nerd. I don't collect clocks, but I did want to be a writer at one point. I have a masters in library science which is why I ended up creating her originally as I wanted a librarian character and once I adopted her it fit.

It's so hard to pick favorites but I'm going with Rian.

He's far from finished, to be honest I haven't even started on him yet. He shares the exact birthdate of my son so naturally he's bound to be my favorite. My son was a stargazer and I repeatedly call him 'my little dragon' so he's bound to be turned into a galactic dragon-based pet as soon as I can afford it. I'm planning on a custom overlay for him and he's also the main pet currently being trained and fed. I chose the name Rian because his real name was taken (and not clearing ever) and it is also the new director of the new Star Wars movie (Rian Johnson). Why is this relevant? Well, since my son was a stargazer his treasure chest will also be filled with star-related items.

When a pet doesn't fancy my interest anymore I'm rather quick to have them find a better home so the ones I currently own are all loved equally to be honest.

Hands down Chili. She's a tribute to my late dog. 10 years ago when I joined the site, this was the one name I wanted the most (when she was still alive). It eventually cleared without me knowing (because at the time, I was still newbish and didn't realize that was a thing). Later, I realized the owner wasn't logging on and I stalked the name for 7 more months. Then I was able to adopt her! Chili meant so much to me and I miss her dearly. Out of all my pets, this is the one I refuse to ever give up.

Of course I've got a few runner-ups, but Chili simply wins just because of who she represents.

I guess it would have to be Chums. It's one of two pets I've created since coming back, and it's the one I battle with and gets first dibs on all the new books. There's no real deep reason other than time and effort invested. It's the sunk cost fallacy pet! Well, I also like owls, so there's that at least. Its character is just more or less a creepypasta-like world building snippet. Maybe the story could go somewhere if I was interested in writing.

The runner up would be Wrain. I was just so flattered Random adopted it out to me.

Among fanpets: Xun is my true north, and Alderson is my spirit animal. I guess they are my fav because they've given me strength, and made me learn to accept and be proud of who I am :P.

Among OCs, my answer would probably be a bit surprising to a lot of people. I really love creating murder boyfriends, so I love these two pairs A LOT (it's super fun writing their stories): Antler and Fruit, Freddy and Norman.

For TC reasons, I love Willard because his TC holds items of my fav animals, rats and mice. Also, Schwarz because he's my first ever pet, and my everything pet (longest story, biggest TC, 1st pet spotlight win, battle/book/food pet, you get the idea).

I love Leroy. Mostly cos he's cute, and also cos there's a lot of me in him which sounds totally narcissistic ... and it is!

My favourite pet name is Bambi. Like, if I could only have one pet, it would have to be Bambi, even though his character isn't my number one Q______Q

The pet I love the most from mine is Kairai - the art just cheers me up every time i see it ;) It's not the same for the spectrum version, though.

Sadly, Metensomatosis is the one I like the least, atm ... because i lost all inspiration. :/

I honestly don't have any favorites anymore. Used to but lately my perspective seems to have changed, not sure if that's a good or a bad sign and idc...

Probably Saya... Sayamisu He's the character I identify most with, I guess... although he and I are nothing alike so maybe "identify" isn't the right word. He is quiet and introspective... and he can control water. And he can swim, which is something I can't do. He's also a dragon and I love dragons, and his dragon form is beautiful, all shades of blue and green with trailing fins. I

I also have a special place in my heart for Kiijan... the majority of my pets are OCs from my writing, and Kiijan is the strongest character in that regard that I've ever had. He basically told me the entire plot of his novel in one night (while I was trying to sleep), I've never had anyone do that before. They'll show me little scenes that they want to happen to advance the plot, but not the entire story.

[pet not found] has the honor and distinction. I joined solely to adopt her species. When I had, one of the first things I did was recolor her, first Twilight. After I familiarized with color palettes, I started working to change her to the image that had drawn me in the first place. Sun Cybill is the apex, really all I'd do is edit her code to reflect the previous version. I'm not too thrilled by the revamp.

So much has changed when I came back around March of this year... at first I didn't really have a pet to call my favorite or well liked... but now well that all has changed.

Cynde is now my spoiled brat... but he is also based off one of my personal favorite OCs. I don't really work on him much here, minus battling of course, but he does get TC fodder and is pretty much given attention way too much.

I don't really have a "favorite" per se, but I have a couple who I have a special kind of attachment to their characters for certain reasons. Coop is (or will be when I somehow get the elaborate profile I have in mind for them up someday lol) a love letter to my fascination with 1920s/30s rubber hose animated characters... also they're vaguely based on a favorite OC of mine. Ashton is based on my bunny OC with the same name and I love him lots!!! I was super stoked when I managed to snag his name in a clearing so I had to make him based on my own lil' Ash... getting to fill up his TC with stuff he'd really like has been super fun!
