I am in the habit of searching for the items that are asked for in Saggitarius's Quests and sometimes other quests too. However, now it is taking me too long to complete a quest because I cannot search for two different items at once any longer. I understand the cache was increased in vaults to deal with the lag, but I do not like that I have to wait 15 (?) minutes to be able to search for another item. Right now if I try to search for item X and then item Y right after, I get item X as the result. I heavily rely on getting items from my vaults for quests, ESPECIALLY Saggitarius's Quests, to save sP (so I have no intention on buying an item if I already have it in my vaults) Ugh I will just buy items for now but it better be gone soon......
So PLEASE remove it, or at least reduce it
I didn't even realize this was a thing. Was there a notice for this? Because doing a new search and getting an incorrect result with no explanation just looks broken if you don't know what's going on.

I do this too! The cache has made it really hard to remove things from my vault, which I do a lot. I was trying to organise my baking items into one category earlier today and it was... really tough. And slow. And tedious. :C
If you have categories, you can get an extra search per category by going to the category first and then searching for a new item. c: That gets around the cache a bit.
I just moved a pile of stuff from one of my vault categories for fragging, and they show in my vault as if they are still there.
It also seems to be messing with moving items into vault categories. I moved some items from the default to other categories, and it says it's updated, but the item still shows in the default.
Is the vault really causing so much lag that we need this annoying cache on it? It's too confusing and making it hard to keep track of items when moving them around.
I was very confused when I tried to remove a book I had two copies of. The vault total kept saying I still had two of them and I was worried in case the items were being duplicated.
It certainly is a bit annoying. I had made a bug thread about it here (Vault caching issues).
I remember seeing somewhere that they were doing some things with the cache to try and stabilize the site, but this one is pretty inconvenient. People use their vaults a lot, and especially during a holiday with so many new items to put in there and organize, having a ~15 minute cache is just too long.
And the search issues are weird too. I'm not sure if that's related or not, but hopefully something can be done.
[edit]Actually, I'm not entirely sure how this cache issue is working. I just created a new category and THAT showed up right away and I was able to add items to it. But the items didn't disappear from the main page right away. IDK what's going on, could it just be partially broken?
if I am putting items inform my inventory into my vault and they don't show up are they in there?? I have items showing up in my vault that I put in 1/2 hour ago, yet they are ALSO in the specific category that they are meant for. I am hoping this will be addressed and fixed soon. I will try to come back to Subeta later because this is making me crazy!! Too bad I have to miss out on the opportunity to ToT and visit in the Pumpkin Patch for a while :( !
I see that I'm not the only one with this issue. It seems putting things in the vault don't show up in the (default none category) but if I search for it - it is in there. Then can't get them into their proper categories as well.
This is not good... I collect 2 of most things (1 for use and 2nd for my galleries). So instead of having the item in my wishlist 2x I just store them into my vault until I got both items :/ I really hope this isn't a "fix" that is gonna stick around the whole holiday.
What about other pages that process mass items like Recycle Beast and Fragmentizer? If they only open overnight, would it be a good tradeoff for removing the vault cache?
Edit: Opps I just realized the suggestion might affect Major Drills quests. Also, I know it's not really ideal to have to shops open half the day that favors certain timezones, but I really think the vault cache is going to be bothersome for both the users and staff who get tickets about if something is missing or duped.
Yeah, I've seen a few people who are just confused thinking their items have disappeared when they are gone from their inventory but not showing up in their vault right away because of the cache.
Is this something that can be looked into further sometime soon?
We'll expand later, but yes the vault does cause a lot of lag that we put a caching system on it. The vault and the wardrobe were both big parts of why the site was dying the past few days. I'm working right now on moving it to 5 minutes; you should notice it in the next hour or so the changes.
Could there also be an announcement or something about it, or put a notice on the vault page or something? Some of us realized it was probably done on purpose, but not everyone knows what's going on and I would hate for more people to think their items are disappearing instead of just taking a few minutes to show up.
maybe the vault cache changes could be bundled into the siteupdate post was planning on doing? if he or anyone else is still planning on doing one, that is. there's been a lot going on so i understand if that's like, low-tier priority rn but i'm still curious as to what all went on this weekend o:
I'm having do a quick note in a news post she'll be doing soon (that is unrelated to vaults, but at least people will see it). I'm sure Keith will cover it in his thread too!
excellent, thank you!
The shops are breaking the site! You have to move everything to a very inferior version of shops and use your vault for everything else!
The vaults are breaking the site so we're making them nearly impossible to use in an everyday functional way!
I know this has to be frustrating for staff, but it is getting kind of ridiculous on the user experience side of things.
I hope a better and long term solution can be found. I do appreciate that we at least have a vague idea why stuff is happening, though.
'slight delay on items moving in and out of the vault' doesn't explain the vault search looking broken.
Because it does look really, really broken.
Are you guys still having issues with the vault being cached? Keith just pushed some changes that should cause the cache to work correctly now. To test it, I've tried moving things into different categories, as well as removing items from the vault, and it's updating immediately and correctly for me. Could you please let me know if it's working now for you?
I'll be back in a bit with a better explanation about the caching and what was going on with it (based on what I know - I haven't looked at it yet personally) I understand this was a frustrating issue.

- I don't know about moving items because I don't have vault categories, but the search results are still getting cached for several minutes at a time.

Can you give a specific example/instructions I could use to try and reproduce what you are seeing?
