Do you sit at your desk with your corn snake wrapped around your headphones? Do you swing your dog around by the chew rope? Do you get your bird to make kissy noises and touch her beak to your cheek?
These are some of my favorites. I was wondering what kind of silly stuff you guys like to do with your pets. If you have pictures or videos, please share!!
i wiggle my fingers under a blanket with my cat. he goes wild going after it. i ave tried to get video of it but it has yet to work out. hes just a blur.
I'd let my birds go play in my table and sing if they weren't afraid of me hahaha It will take a good while to tame them ):
I enjoy making my kitty baby "chirp" for his toys. XD
My cats do all kinds of silly things lol. They're cats after all. I'm pretty sure they think they have me trained though, instead of the other way around.
When Emma was a kitten, I would hold her little kittycat tent up and say 'Jump!' and she'd jump up into it. She thought it was so fun that sometimes I didn't have to say anything, just pick up the tent and she'd go flying across the room and fling herself into it. We can't do that anymore though, because this tiny little kitten is now a 15 lb. cat. XD
Holly will make my mom hold her. She sits by her feet and whines like she's dying until Mom gives her permission to jump and then she'll hop up and climb onto my mom's chest and start purring like it's going out of style and kneading her paws on Mom's shoulder.
They both also ask permission to get under my bed covers with me. They sit there politely and make kitten noises at me until I lift the covers and they go under.
I also love to talk to Emma on the phone, lol. Whenever I'm at work or a friend's house, and I call home, I ask for Emma to be brought to the phone (if she hasn't tore across the house to the phone when she hears Mama's voice already lol). She purrs so loud that my coworkers across the room have heard even though it's not on speaker.
That one is always SUUUPER cute, except I've had a couple of kittens who didn't know the different between sleeping hands and feet and the ones we'd wigggle intentionally when we were awake. Needless to say, there were a few unfortunate launchings of kittens off the bed in the middle of the night, when they'd tried to tear into my toes through the duvet. Not that they ever minded- that seemed to make it all the more fun for them!
What kind of birds do you have? I've been around some very skittish birds before, and even abused ones. They can take so much time and patience even when they're healthy and have been hand-raised, just to get used to new people. My cockatiel was hand-fed and raised by one person for nearly two years before she came to me, and she takes a good month to really like a person. You have to give her lots of millet treats and be extremely gentle or she'll nibble your hands off! I really hope things go well for you and your birds; keeping them is so worthwhile if you have the patience for it!
Oh my gosh, I love that noise. It's so weird and so cute!
Man, I'm so jealous; it sounds like you've got some extremely fun cats! We just have one stray we adopted right now, and while he loves a good scratch and plays with our little terrier, he's not big on being held or sitting in your lap. Talking on the phone to your cat sounds so precious! I've known people (including me) who will do that with dogs, but never anyone who had a cat that recognized their voice! That's amazing!
I have two cockatiels (: they are mostly neutral with me, in a way When I get too close one of them avoids me a little, the other doesn't mind if I don't try to hold him. If they fly and are out of their cage, they let me hold them because they know I will put them back in their place haha
I believe at least one of them were abused to be honest, because she REALLY doesn't like when people gets TOO CLOSE and then she always gets a little hurt trying to escape and hisses to people, though I'm in a WAY better position than my mother xD she lets me hold her when she gets off the cage. I went to a trip and my mom said she didn't let her do the same
I think it's weird too, because that one in particular came from a really popular petshop of this country while the other came from a not so famous one. It seems like the first is just a showing name in the end :/
that happened when i had started to play that game with the cat. after the few accidental night time kicks he had gotten he know difference between sleeping and playtime.
My dog is basically my shadow with how much he follows me around. I like to run away from him in my house. He frantically chases me and whines because he doesn't want me to get too far away. It's funny because we have hard wood flooring so he skids around trying to catch up with me.
When he happens to be upstairs and I'm downstairs, I sometimes like to hide and call his name. He always comes rushing downstairs and then when I'm not standing right there for him, he goes around looking for me. It's basically hide-and-seek for us haha.
Pretty much anything my rats do is silly xD they are a very silly species :P As an example, today I was trying to teach my youngest rat to sit in my pocket when I walk, and he just slid out and slipped down my leg until I eventually caught him :P his little face was so confused xD
I had a cat that passed away a couple years ago, but you could do anything to her, haha! She was the most tolerant cat I have ever owned. We used to carry her around like a baby, and I could literally just push her along the floor like a mop and she would just lay there and purr.
When my male cat was a baby he used to sleep in the hoods of our sweaters. He is sadly too big to do it these days, but if he could he probably still would.
I also have a surplus of animals I walk and house-sit for, and I've looked after this chihuahua who is a bit of a shit (as chihuahuas are...) but once you get to know her, you can do just about anything to her. She's just a huge wuss with an annoying bark.
Ooooh my goooosh, all of this sounds too cute! I also do a little bit of housesitting, dogsitting and babysitting! I have this one dog I sit named Axel, who is such a handsome little goofball. He's some kind of mix, but looks a lot like a black mouth cur, only small and sleeker. He's really sweet, and one of his favorite things to do is nose his way under blankets with you. His owner got one of those mermaid tail snuggie-style blankets not too long ago, and he HATES it, because he can't wiggle his way into it with her!
I definitely get what you mean about chihuahuas. I was bitten by two dogs as a little kid, on separate occasions, both on the nose because I sat down next to them and stared at them. The first one was a chihuahua. :P I worked in a pet shop and grooming salon for a while and met some very sweet ones; I have this theory that the fatter the chihuahua is, the more peaceful it is. All the chubby chihuahuas that came in to be groomed were super laid-back little angels, while all the small ones were either trembling the whole time or trying to eat your hands!
When my dog starts barking at another dog outside, I like to bark with him. And he goes crazy barking every time someone comes home, and won't stop until I come out and open the door, so I bark to let him know I'm coming. :)
I do this dopey voice for my cat, so when we're alone we can "talk" to each other. :D
Leave it to me: I'm always top banana in the shock department.
i used to get my dog to fistbump i'm currently in the process of adding snails to my fish tank, which is not so much a communication but it's silly because most people hate snails in their tank, especially considering this is the kind that just... multiplies and doesn't leave but they're cute
That is so funny. We don't like to encourage our pups to bark indoors, so they've developed other vocal habits- weird growling and sighing noises, especially our yorkshire terrier. We'll make weird noises back at her and the whole thing turns into a whining contest. :P
I like snails! They're not really super interesting to watch, but they remind me to slow down and take it easy once in a while, and I think their shells are neat. :) What kind of fish do you have?
i think snails are adorable ❤️ mine are actually quite fast. you know, as fast as snails can be. two lionheads! do you have fish?
My guinea pigs are always being silly. When im putting them back into their cage I like to jig them abit like they are dancing and I sing to them. They just put up with my being silly and singing to them haha xD
My boyfriend's kitty, Ally, is a weird one. She's this mildly chubby, generally big tortoiseshell lady, and she can go from super chill to absolutely crazy in two seconds. We've recently discovered two things that completely set her off: catnip and laser pointers.
I impulse bought her this catnip filled plush turtle when I was at the pet store a month or so again, and she just rubs it all over herself and drools on it. When she's just lying down or eating, I like the rub the turtle on her until she goes ham.
The laser pointer was also an impulse buy. I love pointing at the wall, because she thinks she can't get it there so she just sort of "cackles" at it. We also give her treats for "killing" the dot. c:
