My cat Indie loooooves fetch. She's obsessed with a couple of these soft little balls that she'll chase after for HOURS. She brings them up onto the pool table so I chuck them off and she's dives after them...honestly the sound of her weight hitting the floor sounds so painful but she apparently has no issue with how hard she hits the ground. She immediately brings the ball back up onto the pool table and the cycle can continue forever, I swear,
Aww! I haven't met many people with really tame guinea pigs; unfortunately it seems like a lot of people just don't give them the patience and care to get to a comfortable handling level. It's super sweet to hear about people who take care of their small animals properly! And guinea pig jigs sound ADORABLE. You should definitely get a video sometime!
Catnip and laser pointers are such a classic combo. I'm also a fan of turtles. It sounds like you have an awesome time. I love the cackling noise!
I have a beta fish. He is by himself, and enjoys his live plants and bubble nest building!
beta fish are stunning! i've never had them but always admire how beautiful they are. what's his name?
His name is actually Asskicker, I was watching The Walking Dead when I got him and it seemed appropriate given the feisty and territorial nature of the beta fish. :P
My cat R9E will climb on a table, and it was obvious he wants me to waltz up to him. He'll then climb up onto me, and the I'll pick him up to cuddle with him. Another cat, Grad Hazard tends to bite my feet.
Thank you!! He is a handsome young man, and full of rage. My pet cockatiel is the same way; sometimes I wonder which of them is angrier, on a daily basis. They're both so sassy.
I like your cats' names! They're very unique. Also, if you read your post signature as a follow-up to your statement about your second cat biting your feet, it's really funny. :P
Well I never give any pet "normal" names. One of my hens is named 4/3, a now gone duck was named Shovel. I'll explain that one, Shovel in Russian is "lapata" which happens to be "female duck" in Spanish. Ha ha...
That's both funny and clever, I love it! I'm learning Spanish right now, some of it's from three years of school classes, some of it's from coworkers at the Italian restaurant where I spent a few summers waitressing, and a lot from Duolingo. I'm actually pretty happy that I recognized the word for duck, lol. And now I know a word in Russian!
Are you wary of your corn snakes, Cas? :P This reminds me of a fun story. I have an even bigger ball python who also sometimes wraps around my headset while I'm gaming that I rescued from a friend's parents who moved out and left both their snakes in a house with no electricity or A/C for about a month. The king snake didn't make it, unfortunately, he was a little elderly and died the day before I could come get them both... I got snapped at gently a few times maneuvering the snake I have since dubbed Ricky (they called him Snake, because they got him from a man named Snake) out of his abysmal enclosure there, but I've never been bitten by him and it's been a good couple of years since he's even been fussy about handling. He eats like a pig now instead of hiding from his frozen/thawed mice, and is always eager to come out and explore. I just found out earlier this year that he was not a pet snake, hand raised by Snake, as I had assumed. Apparently the dude named Snake just found this Snake being eaten by another snake in the wild; Snake was rescued by Snake from the other snake. There are pretty heavy scars along his body (which I now realize are along the upper half only) that I had assumed were from poor sheds in the past but are apparently from literally being eaten alive. I also found out that during the years he belonged to my friend's parents, he ALWAYS tried to bite his owner, and had to be handled with heavy duty gloves and largely wasn't handled at all. I've never worn gloves around him, and I've also never had a problem. Apparently, I'm the freaking snake whisperer.
Aah, I see, you've got one at the high end of the scale! I honestly haven't measured my corn snake in a while, but I know she's grown a bit. I've had the python get a little enthusiastic about holding on to my neck as well, but he's not too hard to unwrap. How many snakes do you have? I always love meeting fellow reptile enthusiasts. :D
That's awesome. They're such interesting creatures, aren't they? I never get tired of watching them, even when they're doing something rude like knocking everything off of my desk because they can't fit under my keyboard to hide like they want to. :P My oldest reptile is my bearded dragon, who just turned 5 this Christmas. For someone who shares a birthday with the lord and savior, he sure doesn't act very festive. At least not without a gift of worms.
I checked out your art shop, by the way! It's very neat, I hadn't heard of that program before, probably because all my artist friends are doing 2D work. I hope it's going well for you!! :)
that story went into more detail and length than i meant sorry.
also, thank you about the art. it's been a bit slow actually but i don't mind much lol
Don't be! Unfortunately the expensive and heartachey stories are just as much a part of keeping pets as the cute and silly ones. It's good to know that you care enough about your corn snake to take her to the vet, fix the expensive enclosure, hunt her down in a house full of holes, and get pooped on 24/7. A lot of people honestly probably wouldn't go to those kinds of lengths for a snake; I've come to terms with the awful reality that a lot of people (like the ones I got Ricky from) see these animals as less important and disposable, and it really breaks my heart... It's always a good thing to me to hear about somebody else going to the trouble of really being there for the animals they've taken responsibility for. I'm also so glad your snake made it through all of that!
On a different note, my bird just started chewing up my philosophy notes while I was typing because I wasn't watching. x_x Apparently Descartes' fourth meditation is super yummy.
I have a calico kitty named Beatrix, and when we play the laser pointer game I like making her stalk it past the living room and into the bathroom, then let her try and climb the wall of the shower for a little while, and then I'll have it race back into the living room and she'll come bounding after it with her eyes all huge. When she stalks, she likes flattening herself like a pancake, it looks so weirdly hilarious. X)
Every time I say "carrot", both of the guinea pigs immediately jump onto my lap.
Their favourite food is parsley though. If I have them indoors and have set up a towel for them to sit on (for obvious reasons), I'll dangle some parsley above their heads to get them to follow it and sit themselves back on the towel (if they've climbed off). They just follow it around with their noses in the air. Then, once they're sitting where they should be, I reward them with the parsley.
Something else that's always funny is when they do their "Lady and the Tramp" impression and are trying to eat the same bit of parsley, although that's not something I actually do to them; they're perfectly capable of doing that to themselves!
Cleared by staff - maximum height is 325px.
A come and go habit I've gotten is to let the male of my geese bite me. Oh, he'll come up to me so I pick him up and let him have at my left side. Yes, he'll bruise me. But I know he isn't faking. Horny bastard.
I just enjoy watching our cats and dogs interact. Always loved it when I looked outside in the winter and our senior kitty who rules the entire yard was laying on the back of our Newfoundland and they were enjoying the sun together. Our kitty is still with us but our Newf has gone over the Rainbow Bridge.
