Hello and welcome to Style File's grand Luminaire event! After a rather tumultuous 2016, the staff of Style File are welcoming you on our wonderful winter break! Everyone deserves a holiday, right? It's time to pack those bags and get yourself ready for a whirlwind Luminaire extravaganza; and make sure you bring plenty of outfits, because this is a world tour!

Yes, this year we are going to be globe-trotting across the lands of Subeta. We have seven destinations lined up in our itinerary... but, oh, what's that? Your budget will only stretch to three of them? It looks like you're going to need to pick out your dream destinations from our list. You will be celebrating the holidays in each land and theme your avatar to match the briefs outlined below; some details are compulsory, while others are prompts to point you in the right direction and echo the atmosphere of each land on Subeta. tl;dr: from the following 7 options, make 3 unique avatars each fitting a single brief outlined below. Some ideas are compulsory and some recommended. The items are just for illustration!

Make an avatar celebrating Luminaire in the Arctic Frost! The snows are harshest in Ytiva and persist all year round; everyone should know how to be prepared these frigid conditions. For this challenge, you'll need to layer up for the frosts! Hats, or head coverings, and scarves are a must for the bracing cold that face the Ytivi. A sturdy pair of boots will help you trudge through the tundra if you dare to head outside, too. Compulsory: head covering & scarf. Suggestions: lots of layers, boots, typical Winter look.

Make an avatar celebrating Luminaire in Centropolis! Even the cosmopolitan fashionistas of Centropolis must face the bracing colds coming in from the north. No true resident of Centropolis leaves the house without co-ordinated items from their favourite Subeautique line, of course, and we often see fashion take priority over practicality. While some from the inner city prefer to flash their wealth with items from the Millionaire Centre, those from the quirkier neighbourhoods show their style with a more relaxed, pared down interpretation. Compulsory: two items from one Subeautique line. Suggestions: Millionaire Centre, boho chic, sleek styling, real-life inspired.

Make an avatar celebrating Luminaire in the Omen Islands! While the Omen Islands are often shielded from harsh winters, the residents still feel a chill setting in through Luminaire. Their relative isolation has demanded they work symbiotically with nature to survive; residents are frequent seen sporting furs, faux or otherwise! Tattoos, decoration and ritual all play a part in this magical time of year. Compulsory: one fur item, one matching companion. Suggestions: feathers, nature, tattoos, magic, contrast.

Make an avatar celebrating Luminaire in the Sacred Lands! While the desert still sees soaring heats in the winter months, drastic drops in temperature at night call for a versatile outfit. Flowing fabrics are encouraged for day wear, while cover-ups are essential for evening excursions. Saherimos has a strong history of trade and precious gems and jewels adorn their winter wear. We recommend checking out the stock in the Cavern of Curios for practical picks and All That Glitters for opulent options. And gold! Bring plenty of gold if you want to be seen. Compulsory: at least two items on the shoulder layer & gold adornments. Suggestions: Cavern of Curious, gemstones, pastels, flowing fabrics, fantasy.

Make an avatar celebrating Luminaire in Shadowglen! While the undead are one of the main draws of Shadowglen, the forests around Shadowglen also hold great magical energy; we're hoping you harness this inspiration with an unconventional avatar, incorporating a less-than-human element in a fashion forward manner. The residents of Shadowglen aren't too fussed about the cold weather and mostly find the stock of Skitters' Den adequate. Browns and greens evoke the dull landscape of Shadowglen, but reds add a fun festive touch to proceedings. Compulsory: body mods, whether zombie, plant or animal etc. Suggestions: Zombie Den, browns, greens, reds.

Make an avatar celebrating Luminaire in Shengui Guo! Luminaire is celebrated traditionally in Shengui Guo, with ceremony taking precedence above all else. All observing the holidays must wear an item from Fine Fabrics, supplied by Jogah, and ceremonial silver jewellery to align their chakras. The weather in Shengui Guo is temperate so lighter layering is practical but not compulsory; the winds from the valleys can still carry cold fronts. Compulsory: an item from Fine Fabrics & silver adornments. Suggestions: lighter layering, auras, mystical, spiritual, fantasy.

Make an avatar celebrating Luminaire in Ziara City! Ziara City is best known for hosting the grand Masquerade Ball each year. While we still have a few months to go before preparations are complete, excess and extravagance are always the name of the game in Ziara. Use items from the Steamworks Menagerie in a fresh way this winter and show the locals how it's done. Add a cool, Christmas twist by incorporating whites and blues that suggest the fierce tundras of the planet below. Compulsory: two items from the Steamworks Menagerie & bronze or copper adornments. Suggestions: excess, intricate, metallics, whites, blues.

• The contest will close on Thursday 22nd December at 11:59PM. • We are expecting you to make three avatars, each fitting a single brief above. • While you are welcome to join in with all seven destinations and share every creation on the thread and on Style File, please submit a single, new post featuring your three favourites to this thread for judging. • Please list which avatar fits which challenge and ping both and when you submit your avatars, so we can check they fit requirements and keep track of everyone's entries. :) It might also be useful to list how you've used the prompts so we fully understand your inspiration. • Tag your avatars with 'winter wanderlust' so it's easy to share your creativity with fellow fashionistas! • You must be able to wear your human avatars! Generated avatars are not allowed. If you're looking for spare items to complete an outfit, please remember to join our Lending & Borrowing group, ! Q: So what do I need to do? This is confusing! A: We would like you to make three unique avatars matching the briefs above. For example, you might choose to enter three avatars; one representing the Arctic Frost, one representing Centropolis and one representing the Omen Islands. Of course, you are welcome to choose any combination of the above destinations to fulfil the requirements!

Q: I'm not a member of Style File. Can I still participate? A: Yes, you can! This contest is open to all. :) While membership to Style File is free and it can provide a great space for garnering feedback, joining is not required.

Q: I've picked my three avatars! What now? Please post all three completed avatars in this thread in one single new post. Please list which avatar fits which challenge and ping both and when you submit your avatars, so we can check they fit requirements and keep track of everyone's entries. :) It might also be useful to list how you've used the prompts so we fully understand your inspiration. Q: Can I use a zombie skin rather than a body mod for the Shadowglen challenge? A: Yes, you are welcome to use a zombie skin for this challenge.

Q: Can you explain the Centropolis requirements further? A: Sure! A successful avatar would be one using, for example, the Rainyday Deep Blue Belt and Rainyday Deep Blue Boots. An avatar would not qualify if you just used the Rainyday Deep Blue Belt and Rainyday Desert Rose Anklets; the items must not just be from the same designer, but the same line, too.

Q: Can I adjust an avatar I've already created to suit the requirements? A: We would like you to create totally new avatars for this contest. Thank you!

The Judging:

Successful avatars will work closely with the brief to evoke the feel of their destination. Judging is not simply based on the adores on Style File, but the tying together the overall aesthetic with creativity, cohesiveness and colour matching. Special mentions will be given to those who excel at each of these areas.

The Prizes:

The top 3 will each get the chance to pick out a Custom Wearable from the Style File Shop, alongside wishlist items. Special mentions will receive wishlist items. All participants will receive a 1 million sP wishlist item.
