i'm sad that the ziara theme stumped me because i wanted to get all of them for my own personal goal lmao!

Centropolis i really wanted to try and make a jumpsuit and keep it mostly large blocks of color to keep it more on the realistic side. also buy Joanne on itunes

Omen Islands tbh i wanted to stay away from what i thought would be a typical omen islands vibe, so instead of going for tribal i decided she's a winter witch who lives with her familiar on a mountain peak instead of down in the jungle

Sacred Lands sacred lands = sand = sands of time = hourglass

i tried to keep a common goal in mind with all of these since i didnt want them to look like each lands outfit could be worn all year round and i didnt just want to accessorize some random same-faced person on a whirlwind vacation (nothing wrong with those btw ive seen some amazing entries along those lines, i just didnt have the inspiration for it) so i tried to come up with avatars that showcased the 100% hypothetical winter traditions of some of the native inhabitants of these regions (thank god for subetapedia)

shadowglen required items: brown pronghorns, brown sheep ears, earthen faun hoof, brown goats hoof, krampus severed tail suggestions: browns, greens, reds

His favourite part of the holiday season was picking out a tree, which he would then sleep in. Then the next day he'd pick out another tree. And he'd sleep in it as well.

sacred lands required items: 2 shoulder items (ziara city coupe, embroidered tan shrug), gold adornments (marez ashar jeweled circlet, underling bracelets) suggestions: gemstones, flowing fabrics (?), fantasy (??)

"I can barely feel my fingers," he complained, wilting dramatically across the satin lounge chair in his living quarters. "Fetch me my cloak. Some gloves. Anything." But no one fetched him any of those things, because he wasn't actually a prince and he didn't actually have a servant. What he did have was a permanently exasperated roommate who took a rare and powerful joy in leaving the window open at night, just to torture him.

arctic frost required items: head covering (giselle snowshoe faux fur bonnet), scarf (delish brave scarf) suggestions: boots, winter look

His mom and dad weren't really big Luminaire people, preferring to focus on more practical matters — such as having enough food to feed their family. His little sister, on the other hand, had learned about Centropolis's colourfully lit trees and glittering wrapped presents in school, and simply refused to let him out of the house that morning until he opened the gift she'd gotten him. But if she expected him to wear the festive handmade scarf out in public, on a hunt, with his friends... she was absolutely right. He just hoped it wouldn't scare away Luminaire dinner.

edit: damn i forgot to ping and — i mean, i doubt it matters much since you're not exactly going to miss this last minute rush, but. thank you for running an a+ awesome contest, i had a lot of fun and ive enjoyed seeing everyones work a lot

Welcome, one and all! You may remember a funny little event we hosted in December called Winter Wanderlust; after a long and arduous judging process (and a three week holiday), we are finally ready to announce the results to our event!

The staff took into account the overall aesthetic alongside the briefs we delivered when considering our winners; we have picked three overall winners and seven individual winners who each excelled for a given avatar. Deliberations were hard and there are multiple avatars we LOVED but couldn't fit onto the winners' pantheon; everyone who participated should have received their 1,000,000 sP participation prize, so we hope that helps salve any wounds. We thank you all for entering and making Winter Wanderlust a success. It was great fun to see everyone taking inspiration from the briefs with unique angles and viewpoints peppering the competition, and we hope we've captured some of that diversity when selecting our winners.

SO.

Without further ado...

it's time to find out who has won Style File's Winter Wanderlust!

First up, we will be revealing the seven winners of the individual briefs.

All winners will be receiving a 5,000,000 sP wishlist item!

And our winners are...

The Arctic Frost! THOMAS SAYS: "Your avatar stands out with that giant fur bonnet and flips it into a masculine piece. The symmetry between the weapon and sharp, angular scarf is very clever and he looks ready to explore!" WHO SAYS: "I adore your entry because this is exactly how I would envision someone living in Arctic Frost: survival first, but dressed well. The scarf layering is hardly noticeable, it just works." CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Really cool, great repetition of textures and patterns to create interest on a male avatar, which can be hard to do."

Centropolis! THOMAS SAYS: "This entry stands out to me as effortlessly chic. Everyone knows a high-waisted pant is difficult to nail, but when you do it right it's fashion. The Peekaboo Boink items work in perfect synergy to achieve this aesthetic." WHO SAYS: "Joanne's greeting! Seriously, what a great use of bold items. The hat is sharp, but combined with the pants and jacket, it flows really well." CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Really cute and clever item choices (The peekaboo lines haven't been used in 87 years), the subtle layering with peeks of color, and refined muted color palette make this one of my favorite avatars in the entire event."

The Omen Islands! THOMAS SAYS: "It's hard to not be drawn in by this avatar. You picked a difficult companion and worked the feathers and colours in throughout to theme. Great layering makes this the stand-out in a tough category!" WHO SAYS: "The perfect combination of feathers and fur. Awesomely matched to the companion, with a beautiful color combination. I love the addition of the tribal tattoos and the dark skin, just like Omen Islands inhabitants." CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Really bold companion choice, excellently executed mimicking (the feather layering, attention to detail with the train), and overall feel of avatar really capture omen islands."

The Sacred Lands! THOMAS SAYS: "Great sense of balance and flow on this one. The fresh colour scheme helps this intricate avatar not feel cluttered and overwhelmed, as you've struck the balance between accessioning and restraint perfectly. The repetition of sheers and drapery help solidify its theme." WHO SAYS: "I really love the unique silhouette of this avatar, while having this mysterious touch Sacred Lands always has for me. Your use of flowy fabrics and breaking them up with sharp angles like the pauldrons and the staff, is fantastic." CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Captured Sacred Lands theme, overall item choice is very cohesive/looks like a set, and intricate layering with a lot of skin still showing."

Shadowglen! THOMAS SAYS: "Very unique and striking. There's a brilliant use of colour, with the contrasting blues set against the bright red, that makes this avatar stand out. It sparkles in all the right ways!" WHO SAYS: "Several things stand out here, obviously the blue skin (beautifully embellished with tattoos and glitter) and the sharp clans/pointy ears. But I adore the addition of the flimsy dress, it makes this outfit grotesque and cute!" CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "AMAZING item choices, layering, and overall theme and execution - very unique."

Shengui Guo! THOMAS SAYS: "That bright, warming red could have easily overwhelmed this avatar, yet it gets pared back by the delicate accessorising and muted green. A sweet, festive treat that captures a cool Luminaire." WHO SAYS: "Shengui Guo goes Christmas! Really awesome Luminaire outfit, but you didn't use the usual red-green colors. That soft green on the legs breaks up the red nicely, so it doesn't overwhelm the outfit too much." CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Really well-done color matching and use of a big item."

Ziara City! THOMAS SAYS: "Another tough category. This one caught my eye as it brings together a barrage of tricky items - the hat, the coat, the pants - and balances them against each other with confidence. Unusual colour choices made this excel." WHO SAYS: "I love these colors so much. That teal paired with the red is a nice combo enough, but the cream stripes break them off so beautifully." CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Really interesting color palette and item choices, hard to match coloring, and smart layering."

And finally, we have our three overall winners. These three picks excelled across all categories and captured our attention with the triple threat of avatars on display. The winners will get their pick of a Custom Wearable of their choice from our Style File Shop, alongside wishlist items. First place will get first pick and 7,500,000 sP in items, second place will get second pick and 5,000,000 sP in items, and third place will get third pick and 2,500,000 sP in items.

So...

coming in third place...

is...

Third Place! THOMAS SAYS: "Your avatars stood out thanks to your unique style which is displayed across all three avatars. The Centropolis avatar is the highlight for how it twists on convention and re-imagines the Misery Lotus pieces. The mimicked pattern from coat to legs is the perfect touch." WHO SAYS: "You have a knack for for using big statement items yet never forgetting details. Your Shadowglen is my favorite with the hidden hair layering and the very nicely repetition of the scales throughout your snake woman's body. You let the jacket not dominate your Centropolis entry too much by using the Misery items and the very nice color palette of black, brown, and dark burgundy." CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Uses really big items really well, very well done realistic style, attention to patterns and finishes."

Next up...

in second place...

we have...

the wonderful...

Second Place! THOMAS SAYS: "A clean, refined aesthetic which balances simplicity with intricacy. I appreciate that each has a unique silhouette and flows naturally . The Sacred Lands look is one of the most polished of the entire contest, brilliant execution and flow throughout." WHO SAYS: " Your layering and color coordination is amazing: your outfits are very feminine yet with a sharpness to them. Your Shengui Guo gotta be my favorite with the hair and the finely layered details, but I also adore the color matching of your Sacred Lands and your spot-on Arctic Frost." CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Really strong item choices, using very difficult items, clever bits of layering (circlet over the headscarf for example), and attention to detail."

Which leaves one last place...

and...

taking home the gold...

as the overall winner...

of Winter Wanderlust is...

the talented...

the incredible...

the unbeatable...

First Place! THOMAS SAYS: "I'm impressed by the way you pulled together three creative, colourful looks which are brought together by unique item choices and clever layering. The Ziara City entry is my favourite here with its sharp blues and fun play on textures, it's a stand-out." WHO SAYS: "You really put together outfits showcasing the different lands perfectly. Your Centropolis is stylish, incorporating every item as if they are meant to be together; your Ziara is grand and shows us your unique layering, with the hair and the lower back area, while also working with this very hard color palette; and your Shadowglen is my favorite, deliciously rotten yet with a style no one could replicate but you!" CHRISTOPHER SAYS: "Really captures the essence of each land well, inventive layering and color choices, overall polish makes this the best."

Congratulations! I will be in touch with all three of you shortly to discuss your prizes. :D Thank you all so very much for participating and supporting us to make this an event a success, and we hope to see you all for our next event. We apologise for the lengthy judging process (never plan an event and holiday at the same time) and appreciate your patience while we've worked through the kinks; we look forward to present new, creative contests for you all to participate and implore you to check out our weekly Stimulate challenges in the mean time.

Thank you!
