This book is used for two different new Achievements. This is in addition to this book being a lovely wear and counting for both wardrobe total and books read total.

Guide to Constellations is r99 for crying out loud! I think this is too much pressure to put on any one item

I agree, I've had this item in my wishlist ever since it became a wearable item and it was still a pretty expensive item then. Having it in one achievement doesn't help but now two is pretty demanding! At least lower the rarity so it's more obtainable.

Can sell you 2. You just need to be lucky restocking.

If you take a look at other r99 book prices, I think it's okay for at least one book to maintain some value. Being a wearable as well is, well, unfortunate. In comparison to CSC prices, the book will eventually come down in value soon [tm]...

(Okay, I sold my last GoC for ~25m and price skyrocketed again with the new achievement...)

thank you for your offer, but my complaint is not personal. I am an old player and had read/closetted my two copies years ago. Both of them were lucky: one was a lizard minion snaffle, and one was a quest drop. Not all achievements need to be gettable by just anyone, but these two new ones seem to favor long-time players.

As for luck restocking, I restock all the time and r99s are an extremely rare catch for me on the order of once a year, I am slow brained and slow fingered. I doubt I'm the only user here like that. Not everyone can be as skilled or persistent as you. The way to compensate for that is by trading one's sP.

This item is currently at around 54MsP and will get higher. Achievement nuts like myself will totally pay big sP for just one Achievement, and this one is for four. Compensation will be very hard for this item.

I think it would help to remove the wear completely from this item and move it to a new or old space item (could be nice for the rest of the wear books), I mean, books are not wears anymore so those that has been left shouldn't be either.. this way it can be removed from the wardrobe and more will be for sale..

I think it's fine tbh. The price will fall eventually and there's increasingly few things worth restocking imo. Needing it for two achievements seems null when you can use a single book for both - just slot it into the wardrobe, collect achievement, remove it and read it.

Also r99 is more common with the Lizard events, of course. I don't think the supply is that restricted.

It's actually needed for three achievements: Read to a pet:

Ready For Camp Lost in Space

Wearable:

Fashionable Reader

I think it is absolutely ridiculous at this point. It was already obscenely priced after the creation of the Fashionable Reader achievement, let alone when it started being needed for the newer ones. I'd like to think that staff is planning on it being in a token shop drop at some point, but at this point, I don't know. We've received no indication that they even realize that the price is an issue.

Haha well it's three achievements for the price of one! Even better.

I just don't see the big deal. It's expensive but very attainable. A restockable is never going to hold that value. Hey, there's already one on shop search for 25m.

Well, if you're not interested in keeping it as a wearable, it can always be removed from the wardrobe later and read to a pet. Counting for multiple achievements isn't a big deal imo because unless you want to use different pets for the different achievements, you can make progress on all of them at once. And if you don't go that route, that's poor planning on your part but still not an issue in the grand scheme of things.

I think it's fine, really. Heaven forbid that we have an item that's actually worth something and might require some work/luck/significant expense to attain! The price will drop in time and none of the achievements are going anywhere.

Its very nice to see restockable items have some value. Its good for the site in general as well, bathhouses were added to get people on every day, and decent restocking could make some stay on for longer than 1 daily :)

A lot of the stuff that I restocked before isn't selling at all. I reaaally think there needs to be some change to questing as it's just too good atm imo - printing bucketloads of sP (one of the big sources of CSC inflation) and handing out too many items (quests aren't a good sink of items, leaving shops stagnant).

(this is kind of a sidebar but it's been bothering me for months)

Around 1 year ago (maybe a bit more than one year) I remember there was quite a discussion about how to adjust/change the questing.... I'm not sure in the end from whom this suggestion came, but I guess this is the result of that.

Anyway, I don't have too much of value to add but I just wanted to say that if you were fast enough, you could have gotten the book for less than 20m (I am saying this because I was one of those who bought one xD) + there is currently one for 25m in the shops ;) I think it's only normal that some items (and this is not only referring to the book) are worth a lot more and are a lot harder to obtain than others. Eventually, the price will settle again... and if not, it's something you just have to save for. After all, you said yourself we earn quite a big sum through questing (and if you are dedicated enough, restocking is worth it as well).

I think it's ok that now and then there's an achievement that is harder to earn, or requires saving for.

All the other achievements released together were relatively easy, the rarity of the items involved were very low, or they were available readily from a unlimited shop.

Admittedly I am sad that I no longer have the pretty wearable as I chose to read it to my pet, but maybe one day I can earn another copy :)

I'm torn. I'm sad the book's so difficult to get, but it is R99 as opposed to a plot item or something that won't ever be released except maybe someday in the crystal shop if we're lucky.

It is strange that it's needed for multiple achievements, though.

Alternate solution: more books about constellations!

I see nothing at all wrong with this book being used for multiple achievements. I far prefer staff use items that restock, albeit rarely, versus retired cash shop items, or non-restocking items that are literally not being sold in ANY user shops.

Still, kinda expensive...but at least it does restock from time to time ^_^

I think anything that is RS should NOT hold its value over the long term -- at least not in the millions. It is normal for things to depreciate over time. And I agree with that this favors old-timers over newer users. I have no problem w/people who rs -- I often do myself. There are always going to be things that are obscenely over-priced for the rs-ers to exploit. They don't need to be protected on this item -- especially because it is required for achievements.

but being used for an achievement is just about the only thing that gives value to restockable items... there needs to be demand...

Plenty of things sell for unreasonable amounts, like baking and battle supplies for starters. Pepper is selling for over 100k. And it isn't even close to rare (33) - it's common. Items asked for during quests hold their values. There is no need to keep protecting a few more experienced, richer users at the expense of the younger, newer users. I have already gotten all those achievements, but I was lucky enough to do so while prices were still affordable. I don't think it is fair to those who joined after me to have to pay 50 times more than I did. And not everyone has the time or ability to rs. We have a number of users who have disabilities -- things like this hurt them disproportionately. It is a wearable book. Demand will always be high.

We already have thousands of items we can rs to make obscene profits, no need to keep this one thing -- and all of the related achs -- out of the grasp of so many users.

I live in MN, and whatever you've heard... It's much worse.
