I agree that it's getting ridiculous. What if I wanted to keep it in my wardrobe, or a pet treasure, or both? This isn't about having to "work" for an achievement, it's an item being utterly unreasonably priced for its rarity(I'm aware people will spend way more than 46mil for a wardrobe or treasure item, but I'm not about to do so for a r99). And do the lizards really get enough copies out there to make any sort of difference in the price? There's so many r99 items they could give out, I don't see how we're supposed to view that as a reliable way of getting an item.

If anything, I think we need more achievements involving r90-r99 items, to make more of them worthwhile.

this this this thissssss as much as I love finding rares for <5k (mm frag fodder), the rare/super rare deflation is real.

Just fyi it's REALLY easy to accidentally delete a post or even an entire thread, especially if you are browsing on a tablet or something. I can't even mod on my phone anymore because I kept doing it. I promise it's not some illuminati shit...

I actually like that this book is expensive right now. Too many restockables are dirt cheap. Encouraging restocking is a good thing.

That sounds like a pretty serious design flaw that should be remedied quickly.

I love how there are some achievements that you actually have to save and work for. I want a challenge. No reason to have everything handed to us.

For those saying it is too expensive....well save. not that hard to do. quest, rs(might even get lucky and rs one yourself), play the games. You will have the sP needed in no time.

I too am all for more achievements for items in the r90-99 range! I so love this idea!!

I'll take achievements with r90-99 items any day over ones with that one super rare consumable Morostide drop item from 8 years ago that cost hundreds of thousands before the achievement came out and nobody's even seen since. (But I agree, 3 achievements demanding the same item is a bit weird. Spread it out a bit and have other items retain some value too, I say.)

I don't think the point is that it's expensive. It is that it's excessively expensive for an r99 that was never really "cheap" in the first place (the cheapest I remember is 8-10M, though I can only speak as to my memory).

It's not just a wearable and reading fodder, it's also evidently a popular TC item. Working for something is one thing....Seven of my eight permanent pets have read the Illustrated Spirit Guide, for example and that sucker isn't remotely cheap. Of course I like the idea that this item will hold value, but considering how -many- items you could have used instead to help bolster item values and sales and that you've hung not one but three achievements on it that does seem a bit ridiculous. I'm not saying saturate the market, but I am saying, please think things through in the future. Considering how many other items that you've dropped in via other avenues and caused their prices to plummet to "easily buyable" the idea that for some reason, this item should continue to be extraordinarily expensive is kind of frustrating.

Do you have a rare item that just won't sell? Are you going through the high levels of Item Hunt? Or maybe you just HATE that blue bunny? Then you should join IHH helpers and IHH bargain in the forum groups!

I don&;t think worrying about a post being deleted when it suddenly poofs (when I&;ve never seen or even heard of errors like that before, especially when the post was initially successful) is that crazy. I was waiting for the warning to pop up (even if I felt it was sorely not to that point) tbph. Sorry.

Keith just accidentally deleted a post a few days ago. Maybe they need to add a captcha or something, because it should not be this easy to make permanent mistakes like this.

This happened on another thread months ago when someone was disagreeing with staff. The staff member who accidentally deleted it apologized and said they would bring up that deleting of posts needed a confirmation. Guess it wasn't something worth following through on. Same for admin abilities on boards in groups - accidentally deleted pings on a few occasions myself.

I sold this book for like 2 mil a few months ago and it sat in my shop for awhile before it sold lol

any ol item will shoot up in price if it suddenly comes out in an achievement, even if it's something no one wanted before. Deep Fried Soda comes to mind right after the Deep Fried achievement came out. It was r82 but after the achievement came out it was well over 1 mil for months. If it's in high demand, it's going to shoot up in price for awhile. In a month or two when the hype for the new achievements goes down, the price will fall back to what it was too. I've gotten TWO From the Lizard RE, and I think I got one from Drills once. I have one in my wardrobe and one read to my pet and I'm pretty sure I never actually purchased the book with sP. Just be patient! Personally I think instant gratification isn't that fun and leaves less reason for me to want to play often. I like having goals to reach for, achievements included.

54 mil is ridiculous yes, but it will definitely drop once demand for it goes down, just like every other item that got added in a new achievement.

I restock from Atebus Shop quite regularly and have been able to buy this item many times. Every copy I had of this item, I restocked. Because the book is in demand right now, it'll be harder to restock since multiple people are also doing the same After a while, it will be easier to buy from the shop since less people will be looking up the book. This is from my experience back when the Fashionable Reader achievement came out.

I do appreciate when a restockable item is used to gain an achievement because I like the challenge to restock the item myself. It does take time, but eventually you'll grab it. (Some items have taken me months to successfully restock since I am not as active as I used to be) I handle restocking r99 items the same as if I am restocking from the BHH page. :3c It's always a surprise~

This item is currently at around 54MsP and will get higher.
Looks like it is holding pretty steady at about 38 mil now. Which isn't THAT bad, since you actually can get more than 1 achievement from reading it to 1 pet

I'm intrigued that the actual exact sP cost is such an issue. I'm primarily a merchant here even though the newshops lack of shop history have crippled this. Prices in general are something that would amuse me if other people bring it up, which it turns out in this case they do.

I have a different idea of what's a stable price than you. In between my original kvetch the price has gone up and down and I don't think the current price is particularly constant or even an average of what I've seen sold. I think more time will be needed before I personally would say there's a stable price for this item.

You and I may love our Achievements and be willing to pay that much. I know some of my fellow cultists won't, and this seems like an impossible amount for someone new who is not yet so invested in the site or care about the 'rep' or 'collection' appeal of Achievements. Making this item work for multiple Achievement guarantees that all related Achievements now are ones that new players can't or are much less likely to get. It affects the real and apparent attainability of all of them.

To my mind then the only thing us regular users can know for sure about this item since this new market stress has been induced, is that very few or no users will pay 72M as a spot-market price. Staff may have more detailed access and analysis apps than us.

If you haven't been following an item you can check to see if there's a price break. A price break is the difference between the price of items that regularly sell and those oh-so-hopeful merchants who want a skosh more than the market will bear and don't autoprice. It can be particularly sharp for in-demand items and kinda blurry for items that are only in some demand or which are kinda rare but not super rare. Not all items have one but many do and there's one between 54M and 72M for this item. All the ones lower than 72M had been sold, which means that although 54M is the highest I saw sold some that I saw on the market for more than that have indeed sold since the Achievement came out.
