(I don't know if that works, since I'm not part of it, but worth a try)

I have a question, actually; do CWs have to have 1px lineart? Is there a particular thinness that will make a CW denied?

There's no need for the lineart to be exactly 1px! Just make sure it's not too thin or too thick compared to other on site CWs :)

Example:

maybe too thin - okay - too thick

Please keep in mind that this isn't a rule. I have seen a lot of thin lineart CWs getting approved! Best way is to compare with other stuff on site and try submitting it :)

Maybe if you are unsure, try drawing it and then asking for critique! c: Good luck!

This is good news indeed, if we want to try a tattoo over an aura!

Thank you, Sonatine!

thank you Sonatine for the insight. I will do this first then. do the .6px lineart in black, with the moon aura over it. so it will diffuse the lineart some, make it look less black, while still getting that aura feel.

By aura do you mean like some sort of shine? If so, the shine does not need to have lineart, only the tattoo! :)

The idea is to have a glowing yellow-gold crescent moon mark and then pearls on three sides of it. I've been thinking of it as a tattoo since it's a mark on the skin, but it's also supposed to have a very strong shine effect and we were thinking of your examples, where the moon could be just a glowy shape rather than needing the lines.

Or maybe doing both, , a tattoo and an aura? We could post the examples here, give the posting format in the first post a try.

Ack, or it might be settled as is. Up to you, Syl.

@ Cathii Sorry if not supposed to ping you. Not sure who to ping. edit I am a moron who cannot read.

Username --- Link to the CI --- shark

What do you need help with --- I need to fix the shark but truthfully I am rather bad at Subeta styled art. Tried a few things but I cannot figure it out by myself. The lineart I will redraw. Not an issue. The shading itself is the problem.

Was there a denial --- was denied for the following reason(s): • ITEM: Blunt/untapered lineart • ITEM: Flat artwork • ITEM: Pillow shading • ITEM: Blotchy shading • ITEM: Ambiguous shading/light source unclear

Optional Can we take a look at the PSD files --- I misplaced it. D8 Can we redline --- yes

Hi hi! What a cute CI! Little shark friend. ^^ I'm honestly so confused as to why your lineart was denied, but we'll leave that there. >_> As for the shading, to me it seems like you tried to include a color pattern for the shark's skin, and because of the small size of the ci, it's obscured the actual shading. Try using one color (grey, brown, tan, whatever), and building up shading from there. Make sure that the top left (shark's nose/head) is the lightest area, since that is where subeta's standard light source would be hitting.

Here's really bad "redline" to demonstrate what I'm talking about! :p

What said regarding the color pattern! The brown areas look like the skin pattern on the shark, but since the item is really small, I couldn't really understand/be sure if those were supposed to be shading or just markings on the shark!

The light source comes from the upper left, so adding highlights to that area also helps a lot!

No shading CI:

One shading layer (set as multiply, with a grayish shade):

Two shading layers (set as multiply with a purple-ish shade):

Three shading layers (set as multiply with shade purple-ish shade but lower opacity):

Highlight layers:

And you might want to add the brownish pattern back but with a lighter color so the shading actually shows:

Also .psd if it helps: https://puu.sh/qEviA/00b8ce9c8e.psd

Hope this helps ^o^

Thank you so so much. This is really useful. I really could not figure it out how to make my shading visible. Very grateful for your advices. Forever in debt.
