I just wanted to thank all the staff for their hard work over the past week fixing all the crazy problems that went on. I know I did my fair share of moaning, but I really do appreciate all that you do. Every day you work to give us a really great site, and I am grateful. I know all these issues were a nightmare for you, so make sure to get some extra rest and relaxation time. You've earned it!!
(Sorry if this isn't really Site Feedback, I couldn't think of another place to put it.)
100% agreed. Mistakes happen, we're not perfect. =)

While the hard work to fix all this is really appreciated, the fact that it happened to a site that's over a decade old during the busiest time of the year is damn near inexcusable.
What should have been done differently? Grace ran the wrong script. A pure accident. The site going down for over a day was a malicious attack that was not the site's fault. Sure, it is frustrating and the timing was awful, but I don't think we can be too upset knowing what really happened. It wasn't faulty untested code, it was a simple mistake.
I agree, the team has worked so hard over a time when they should have been spending with their loved ones. If we were all perfect the world would be very boring. I'm not perfect and I don't expect anyone else to be. If you think you could do a better job running the site go set up your own and enjoy all the difficulties it brings and all the times it drags you away from doing the things you'd rather be doing or spending time with loved ones.
We don't have to pay for this site, we can if we want the benefits but we don't have to so the team could have said we could wait for everything to be fixed especially as there are so many ungrateful people on here but they tried their hardest and they compensated us all when they didn't have to for that I am eternally thankful.

To all the beautiful rats who forever left their footprints on my heart - Run free, you were loved. Ollie, Lily, Cas, Ragnar, Snart, Rory, Barry, Cisco, Diggle and HR ❤
Every website have downtimes and a mess, even Whatsapp servers crushed during Christmas Eve, the one of most important and used day in the year for this service! Gmail had problems at the beginning of December. And so on.. every website and service had and will have problems that comes from human mistakes, attacks or other reasons..
So anyway, Subeta is not different and don't expect it to be because it's impossible.
2015 was a good year overall here, especially during the big event this summer! (we had no crushes I think..)
So thank you staff for everything and fixing this mess :)
At this point, complaining about this is crying over spilled milk, isn't it? Could've/would've/should've isn't going to roll back the past few weeks and undo the annoyance for anyone - staff and user alike.
The DDoS attack was outside of anyone's control. The rest needs to be learned from. If a script is outdated (and has been outdated for at least 2 years!) - flag it as such, or remove it if possible. If you're going somewhere, even just to see your family, and you do your job entirely online - bring your laptop. The busiest time of the year equals massive opportunities for things to go wrong.
For a pretty successful site that's 11 years old and trucking on, these sadly look like beginner mistakes. :/ It isn't the first time the stocking item duplication happened and it isn't the first time Subeta was effectively left without a programmer on duty. That's what really disappoints me in the whole situation.
Again, all the efforts and work that are going into fixing this are appreciated, as is all the work that's been done during the past year, but please don't let this happen again. It makes Subeta look sloppy, for lack of a better word.
I'm siding with Frost on this one, sorry.
I would be grateful, if I felt like the content this year was equivalent to the quality we usually get.
Sadly, I'm going to tell you, even without the tree debacle, I don't consider 2015 to be a Great Year, Subetawise.
Monthly themes are amazing, but it feels like that, in the second half of the year, we got a lot less releases based on the theme. Thing month was the worse offender, because I didn't feel like most releases were thing we wouldn't have gotten otherwise, but Food Month and Omen Islands Month also didn't tickle that much of my fancy.
A lot of things that I loved in 2014, such as Cherry and Silver pets and Lifelike Dolls, really slowed down in releases. Especially for the former, I was disappointed that we had no standalone Cherry/Silver release in December. We got the Montre, but these were not standalone.
Shengui Guo, who was very hyped got...no new content update since the two other shops were released, and had no additions after the original releases. While the shops are unique in the way they work, lack of items being added to them (ESPECIALLY THE FOOD SHOP, THAT MADE ME SAD IN FOOD MONTH THAT NOTHING WAS ADDED THERE) remove the main(only?) reason to go and enjoy the fact that for the first time since like, 2009, that we have a new area of the map discovered.
Finally, while the tree debacle was bad, it's not what I found the saddest about Luminaire season. The fact we had far far far too many sets in Melody's Cottage, rather than themed unique items made the entire event a little stale. I've pointed out that we had five days in a row where we had a Rambert item, a Snowburb item, and a Pardice item. And, in the last two weeks, we pretty much got a Krampus item every day. I liked them, but a lot of people didn't...and the sheer quantity of them, again, was overkill.
Predictability makes it stale, and I cannot say I found the calendar surprising. Maybe it's a lesson to learn for next year?
I was also surprised at....no new pet specie. For the second year in a row, even! We got the Noktoa and Neela at the end of 2013, so, I was expecting a pet this year, since we didn't get any last year and well...
I'm not mad at the tree debacle. I'm not mad at staff, but man, I just want to forget that 2015 ever happened. It didn't feel like a strong Subeta year, and I really, really hope 2016 will be a strong Subeta year.
Can we have a single 'thank you' thread without additional criticism towards staff? They fucked up, and it probably ain't the last. The message has been made loud and clear. It's up to them to decide where to go from here.
2015 wasn't lackluster to me, not in terms of battling. If anything, I hope the battle scene continues to feel the love this year. ^^
I'd rather see more pet revamps and filling up the missing combos instead of being bombarded with a bunch of new pets. But that's my preference, and we don't have to agree. =)

I have a question. When I log on to Subeta now on my phone, it makes sure I'm not someone trying to DDoS the site before it will load the page (takes 5 seconds). This only started happening to for recently.
Is it that only recently this technology became available to Subeta, or what? If so, okay. If not, why haven't we had this all along?
Just my question as far as that goes...
Also I'm not going to pat staff on the back for "working so hard" this time. Sorry. This site makes too much real-world money to be this awful at keeping the site up and running for its paying customers, especially during the times of the year when it is the most busy. Not impressed. I understand this is a busy time for everyone, but when your JOB is to run a website and that website is busiest this time of year, one would expect for it to be staffed accordingly. I don't take a vacation during the busiest time of year at my job.
edited for grammar error
Except they said in the news/forum post announcement that they expect to have trees ready to go by Monday or Tuesday.
Thanks for that. Not sure how I missed it.
I don't know, I'm a pretty new member here, so maybe I don't have the same perspective as a lot of people. The other sites that I belong to which are similar to this one have had many, many problems like this (even the one which is over a decade old), and I don't feel like they handled their issues even half as well. The weekend of all the quests being special and the free GA week were really great, and they didn't have to do that - no other site I've been a part of has done something like that. Yes, there is always room for improvement with getting rid of old coding or whatever, but I get that oftentimes that stuff gets put by the wayside in favour of new features (items, pets, games, etc.). Unless someone is going to fully fund the site, plus some extra, this is just going to be how it is. I don't know. I just appreciate that the staff worked hard over the holiday so that we could enjoy our free site.
The thing is, Subeta isn't exactly a free site. It falls in the category of freemium: Yes, we don't have to pay anything to use the site, but some aspects of the site are paid, such as the Cash Shop. Essentially, Subeta is a business that makes money off of its users in order to survive. Fully funding a business is not really viable, so Subeta relies on players like you and I to spend their money here.
I do appreciate that Subeta has tried to compensate users by giving out things like the free GA week, even though it essentially is going to cause less people to spend real money on 1 Week GAs for the next month, which hurts business.
I really like that they attempt to be transparent and communicate with us. These are good things that make Subeta stand out among the crowd of other, similar pet sites.
However, it's Subeta's job to fix these problems and to prevent them from happening. Do I appreciate that they worked over the holidays? Yes, but there should be at least 1 working person with a computer on hand and the tools required to fix any problems that are most likely going to crop up, looking at holidays past. It's their job to be working at a time when their business is going to be busy, considering events, and at a time when their business might make money, as people spend money they received from the holidays.
Unfortunately, people have come to expect lags and issues with every site event. The longer this keeps up, the less likely and willing that some people will continue to buy CSC and financially support this site. The trees and the DDOS attack were not 100% Subeta's fault. The first was an accident and the second just plain nasty. I think that these incidents are going to have 2 major impacts:
That's a hit to Subeta as a business and the consequences they're going to have to face.
❄️ Seeking Elsa or Olaf inspired CWs ❄️
Yeah, that's one aspect of the site that wasn't neglected this year : Battling.
However, more pet species wouldn't be a bad thing, because people have been yelling they want pigs, elephants and octopi for a while, and having a mix of new pets and revamps is the way to go. Hell, the Manchu revamp fell in the nether, did I?
I guess I just disagree. With my previous experiences (which is actually why I joined Subeta in the first place), sites like this - which, yes, I understand, are businesses - can go very, very badly before, during, and after issues like this one. For example, another site was DDoS'd, down for days, and when they got back online, they were very glitchy and very "shut up, it wasn't our fault." As for the other things, accidents happen. It's really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme. There's no use getting upset or berating people over things that happened in the past. Every site like this that I have experience with lags and glitches during every holiday or event. It's just something that is, and that users have to accept if they want to participate. I agree that a golden point of Subeta is the transparency and willingness to talk to users. I truly don't think they have to worry about their money-making. There will always be users who are willing to spend a lot of money on sites like this.
A lot of us, long term users, know that these errors, glitches and lags are not something occasional. They're things that happen, and happen so often that having the site NOT LAG, CRASH OR GLITCH during one of the site's numerous events is seen as an achievement
It shouldn't be an achievement to have the site working during events : it should be normal.
Don't satisfy yourself with crust when you could have the whole slice of cake. Even if you only had crumbs on other sites.
I don't hate this site, I love this site, I love throwing money at this site. But, you gotta say it when it's not to your likings, and after 9 years, I have issues with some things. And, the wonderful thing about staff is that they're gonna improve
Another fun glitch. The forum title you're using(KittieCupcakes has a massive family) isn't one you should have. That title is awarded to accounts with 20+ pets. But the achievement system has been broken for ages and titles have been given out all over the place without them being earned.
