SPOILER ALERT!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE OUTCOME RUINED!!!
Very disappointed at the scrolls' outcome. You are strung along being made to believe that you have to buy each scroll to complete the main riddle and instead, at the end, you're told that you have to buy each minion instead. Not only are 3/4 minions more expensive now, you've already thrown 20 mill out the window buying the scrolls unnecessarily and all you get is a battle challenger for super high statted pets. This was the most disappointing series in quite some time. Well done making all that sP be forced from pockets unnecessarily. That wasn't fair. At all. slow claps

I also don't like how the scrolls weren't even necessary to complete the riddle. I don't care that I had to buy the minions, but why weren't the scrolls required? you cannot solve a riddle if you do not possess a riddle to solve.
I don't know if staff ever said that it would be the scrolls/tome that you needed but considering for all the other riddle items, we had to have the riddle item in our inventory for them to work....yeah it's pretty shitty.
Luckily I can't fight the challenger so I don't have to worry about getting the minions now but still upset that I bothered to keep all the stupid scrolls/tome :L
Yeah I'm not happy about it either. I've not completed it yet because I can't fight the challenger but I also can't afford to spend over 20 mil more on minions. -_-

They never did, but considering what the descriptions were of each scroll/book thing it was an obvious assumption at the time that you needed each scroll/book thing to complete the riddle. It was totally bogus stringing along x_x

I'm kinda annoyed by that too. The sphinx minions could have each part of the riddle written in their descriptions (I know the Autumn one was released before the collections, but maybe edit the description?). The scrolls were a bit misleading in my opinion.
I made the same assumption because we needed the trinkets for the other riddles. It was just the most logical thing that I never questioned it until today. I probably would have been more ok if we needed both the scrolls and the minions, because at least then I wouldn't be left with four scrolls I can't use.
That said, the whole sphinx thing has been really cool. I've loved seeing the items each season, and the riddles have been fun to solve. It was just the execution of the final riddle that bugs me.

I just assumed you could mouse over the items, examine each description, and thus solve it.
arn't they readable? I'd love to read them to my battle pet if it were in my budget.
If I have claimed a Dance from you and do not immediately Dance I will get back to you.
Always Buying:
[/font]even so, you'd still be paying a whole lot more for the minions now, even without buying the scrolls originally. What's the point on buying the minions when they originally came out if you don't care for one or more of them? There isn't.

Yeah, it was meant to be the minions all along, I used the books for the riddle clues because I thought that was more clever then just writing some stock description for them, or putting it somewhere obvious (like in the sphinxs' own descriptions.) Since minions stick around, I figured it would be more likely that people would own them already, and just pop them out of galleries or pets treasures!
Then why not wait until they deflate? MC items are year round, so you could easily just wait another month for said minions to deflate.
Also, to me, this seems to be more of a complaint due to the challenger being for 'high statted pets'. The MC has always been used as an sP sink, so if users are spending a lot, then it's achieved its purpose.
the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of players, I'm sure, bought the scrolls thinking that they'd be a vital role in the riddle solving. This wasn't the case and was unjust stringing along. It's not so much about the battle challenger. It's about being made out to believe that what should've been one way was entirely false and was another method of solving the riddle altogether. Making people spend more sP than they should isn't right.

Honestly the challenger could have been a lot harder and I would have been happy. I don't think that's valid saying this is a complaint about it being a challenger for high statted pets.
I wrote the descriptions. There was no intention to mislead (any more than a riddle should, really!) and get people to buy the wrong thing.
I don't agree with crying we were "strung along" by staff because...we weren't. I mean, logically a lot of us thought we'd need the scrolls since that's where the riddle was located but already said that wasn't even a thought at the time.
I do agree with that the whole thing has been cool though, and I really liked solving the individual seasons' riddles ;^;
I can understand your viewpoint. Is there any way that those people who bought the scrolls thinking that they'd be acting in the same mannerism as the trinkets could at least have an ability to trade them for the minions somehow or something? Or maybe be allowed to exchange the scrolls for the battle challenger instead? I do understand where you're coming from, though, and not making the association between the trinkets and the scrolls.
The riddles were fun though, I'll agree to that :)

"... and all you get is a battle challenger for super high statted pets."
Did the scroll help in any way? I mean, you can read it to a pet, or you can resell for around the same price to people who might be interested. It's not the end of the world.
Also, this is why I didn't think you HAD to buy the items: "The description of the Winter Sphinx Trinket holds a riddle that if you solve will grant you a Winter Sphinx Shield!"
Maybe they should have bolded that word, I don't know. Chances are, people are still going to buy it and still complain about the same things.
I agree with the core of the complaint though and I have one of the top 50 pets.
You did need to buy the Winter Sphinx Trinket to solve that riddle you are referring to.
edit: I did enjoy the riddles, I thought the items looked good. another thing that irked me as a battler was that all of the trinket prizes were battle related yet none of them were weapons. no big deal, but I was hoping these would be combined into a weapon or something. I had also bought these in case they were needed to unlock the challenger.
Lol, I just waited for someone (like you) to post the stats of the challenger to decide when I should buy it. Honestly, I'm going to buy all of them anyways for TCs, but I feel like most of the complaint was really "I can't beat the challenger so I am dissatisfied with the results" more than anything else. At least, that's the vibe I got from reading the OP.
