- They are, but I don't need them for that. I only bought them for the riddle, so now I get to try to resell them. :P

Is there any way that those people who bought the scrolls thinking that they&;d be acting in the same mannerism as the trinkets could at least have an ability to trade them for the minions somehow or something?

we can already do that. not in the way you're thinking, but it's not staff's responsibility to compensate us for assuming.

I thought we'd need the scrolls too, but I'm not really upset that I mis-spent my pixel money. 'cause, y'know, it's my fault for guessing instead of waiting. I really loved the whole process and riddle-solving, and the wears were all pretty excellent too.

I didn't get that vibe (though I skim almost 100% of the posts I "read") and I think there are valid points brought up. I do feel there are a lot of complaints when a more challenging opponent is released (this is not one of them... he's rather simple if you have the stats, was hoping for something stronger) I always think that releasing harder challengers is better, people can work up to the stronger ones and they give people motivation to grow and see their progress instead of releasing stuff that they beat in 5 minutes. but I think this is a different complaint.

the scrolls just seem like an afterthought and the precedent of "hey we need the items that the riddles are on, and those will disappear" was set by the trinkets. I am not upset with the minions being slightly more expensive. it's 1.25m ea (except autumn), no big deal. but why release the scrolls if they're going to be only books with the riddle descriptions on them? I know many people, myself included, who bought a scroll to read, and one to store for when the riddle was completely out. It's just sorta frustrating. I don't care, I can (try to) resell them and at worst I'm out 30 mil of the stuff I bought in preparation for this. in 2 days I won't care at all, but for now, it's just sorta frustrating.

I guess I don't really see this as being such a big deal enough to make a feedback board about it. I disagree with the part about how the staff leading people on, in all honesty, I highly doubt they foresaw something like this (and bean even confirmed this).

And hey, if you still have that scroll, I'll buy it from you. :) I actually made up a Sphinx character hours before the items were even released, so absolutely perfect timing.

I'm a bit disappointed with this too.

Someone mentioned the trinket, and yes you HAVE to have to trinket to get the prize. So the logic followed, right? The trinket had the clue written in its description for the prize and had to be in your inventory to receive said prize (you couldn't just do what the clue said without the trinket in your inventory and expect something to show up). So it stood to reason that the scroll that had the clue written in its description would have to be in your inventory as well.

I understand that they didn't mean to mislead us, I really do, but I also understand why people are frustrated.

I have autumn/spring/summer, comment me if you're serious about that.

I don't really think staff intentionally "strung us along" but I do think if they're going to make a riddle item, then it should actually be involved in the riddle. that is what I take from this complaint. You could solve the riddle without even touching the actual riddles. Why make an item with the riddle? why not have an npc tell us these riddles? Why not put them on items that are required for the riddle? why not actually require these scrolls to be in your inventory? they could not disappear and still be required, and at least I feel like they were a part of the riddle.

Maybe put that in a suggestions board instead? I think those are great ideas, but rather than on a feedback board where the staff will more than likely take it as a complaint, make a suggestion board on how to make these riddles more worth it/fun to do. I honestly love it when people try to find ways to make things a bit more exciting.

Commenting you right now. :)

it's a comment about something that already happened, which is feedback. feedback and suggestions do go hand in hand and 90% of the people don't know which threads go where. to me, feedback is a mix of complaining and suggesting on how things can be improved for the future. if they make more riddles in the future (and I hope they do!) read feedback from how it went the last time to know how to improve. this isn't really a real argument though, which forum to place the thread in is semantics.

I enjoyed that it took 9 months to fully develop. it created hype. I liked the riddle aspect. it was a short riddle and fairly simple. if it was more of a short plot or something... scavenger hunt meets riddle thing... would be a lot cooler. but I still enjoyed it. I liked the final prize, as I am always looking for new challengers (though I would have preferred more challenging, but I can't always get it my way)

you are twisting everything I said around. This was not about the challenger like I have already pointed out to you once. This is about how things were done for the riddle in the first place. You, however, are seemingly fixated on my comment about the challenger. I added the challenger in there because for a whole year of waiting seemed like a more of a shallow prize for solving a riddle that a lot of people took part in but not all could reap the benefits of the reward.

The fact of the matter is that the riddles were in the descriptions of those books. While it wasn't Bean's intention to mislead anyone as she never put 2 and 2 together where people figured that if they needed the trinket in their inventories to solve the trinket riddles, they would need the same for the books as it never crossed her mind. There was never any mention in thw riddles that the minions would be needed. The riddles were in the book descriptions and most assumed that the books would function the same way as the trinkets. With the minoons being the keys to the challenger, those riddles should have been placed in the minions' descriptions and not the books; especially when so many people put the books and trinkets on the same playing field. Now people have to either wait another entire year to re-buy the Reliefs for the minions or buy them now at a higher price. Both are unfair due to an honest mistake on Bean's behalf.

Making a riddle prize exclusive to only a handful of players, though, isn't exactly fair, either, especially if other players bought the books thinking that there was going to be an excellent prize at the end, only to be disappointed in another way as the big end prize is a challenger only a small amount of players can beat.

If there's a next time for something like this, the riddles should be attached to the items necessary to complete it in its entiretyand have a battle challenger as a bonus prize along with a site-wide prize or prizes (feature or something) that everyone can enjoy so that all of their sP doesn't feel like it wasn't for naught.instead of the feeling like it is for naught right now as only a handful of players can battle.

call it an assumption all you'd like, but given how the trinkets' descriptions were written, it was an obvious and logical conclusion that the same held true for the scrolls. .

I'm glad that for each of the sphinx reliefs I bought, apart from the last one but I do plan on buying it, that I didn't use them to get the scrolls and that there is at least a wearable or some other item I'd like from them. I thought the idea was great, but the execution could've been better. To be honest I was afraid something like this would be the end result and that's why I didn't use mine until I knew for sure if I wanted to or not and now I know I don't want to get the scrolls from them.

  1. No one confirmed you needed the scrolls. Listening to popular opinion doesn't necessarily work all the time. If 20 mil is a lot of sp to you, you could have done the cautious thing - waited to transform your sphinx items. It's not like by transforming things earlier in the year you got an advantage anyway. You still had to wait until winter to figure out the overall riddle and the answer took all of what? Less than 24 hours after the news release?

  2. It's not really 20 mil because the autumn sphinx is separate from the other sphinx items. 5mil x 3 + 1.5mil = 16.5mil which is roughly 250 csc if not a bit less - what the csc monthly battle challengers cost. This isn't expensive at all. It's fair.

  3. Super high statted? It's a sphinx. It's not going to have 1k hp. Subeta has to show some respect for a sphinx, okay. xD

Tbh this is why I just kept them as the base reliefs rather than used them to get the scrolls outright. I knew if I needed the relief itself for the final solution then I'd have it, and if I needed an item from it then it'd be as simple as using it. It mostly just seems like the assumptions were the major problem here, rather than the execution or wording of the riddle.

(basically exactly like Murph said, there was no need to create the scrolls right away since there were no active in-between steps with them, so it was the "fault" of the users that transformed them early, though I can understand why they felt like they would need to make them into the scrolls for the final solution)

well i guess that's the danger of trying to guess how events will transpire. at least they're not all account bound?

since you have unlocked the challenger I'm pinging you... :p so from what I understand is that you have to have the 4 seasonal minions in your inventory and then you unlock the challenger? do the minions dissapear or something once the challenger is unlocked? since there are so many complaints about it... if the minions don't dissapear, we can just trade the minions right, so everyone can unlock the challenger...

The simple fact of the matter is that, intentional or not, it's just incredibly unintuitive to not have needed the riddle in your inventory to... solve the riddle. It really doesn't make any sense at all. It could have required all the sphinxes and the riddle and taken it all away, that would have been better than not needing the riddle. Especially since the trinkets all required having the item. Some forward thinking when doing things like this is really important.

That all being said, the hype was fun. The challenger looks cool, I'll fight him tonight after i "solve" the riddle that I dont need to have read. I just hope more thought is put into it if something like this happens again.
