- My current sweets and I are .... nineteen years apart. Yep. But I like him so it's fine. I prefer an older than me partner, though, always have.
My mom is older than my dad by four years, and my sister is older than her husband, by a year ? Nine months ? A year and nine months ? Something like that, I forget exactly. and I THINK my brother's wife is older than he is, but I honestly don't know.... or care about her so.
collecting my gf is 20 and i'm 22. not a huge age difference, but still give or take two years apart. i don't see any issue with how many years are between you as long as you're both fine with it and are consented adults, of course.
- You and your soon-to-be partner's age difference is nearly like me and my fiance's. I'm 24 and he's 20. I turn 25 2 months before he turns 21. So no, it's not weird if the female is older than the male.
What really matters is mental age. I dated 2 25 year old guys hooked up with a 28 year old. All of them were very immature, especially the 28 year old. None were ready to settle down and were still unsure of what they wanted to do in life. They just lazed around, keeping crappy jobs without any motivation to move higher in life. And, some were very secretive of their lives, which of course is super suspicious.
Whereas my fiance wants to work to support us and is doing his best to move up in his job. While he still isn't completely sure what he really wants to do in life, it's okay. That will come in time. He's committed to the relationship and has a good handle on himself. At the same time, he loves to goof around and is immature at the right times.
So, as long as your soon-to-be partner is mentally mature but can be appropriately immature, then he's good.
Awww, you call him sweets. I love it! Age is just a number, as they all say! BTW LOVE your avatar! LOL - excellent!
That is so true. He is much more mature than my previous boyfriend who was the same age as me. Surprising? No. We age with the damage not the years. He's more mature than most people I've meet so that's a first lol!
And congratulations! I hope you two have the happiest life together. I love maturity with a side of goof. It blends nicely lolol
- well I mean he's 55. "boyfriend" is ridiculous. We've been friends, and then friends with benefits, sort of for years. It wasn't until this last April that we moved from that to going for an actual relationship. It's been semi difficult, as he lives in California and I live in Wisconsin, and I haven't seen him since May. He has some pretty major health issues from untreated Lyme disease that have made a visit out of the question for now. He's finally starting to feel better and be more mobile again, so we'll see. Because of that, I have kept a lot of things to myself, and was pretty disappointed that he isn't able to meet me halfway when my sister and I go to Denver in November for three days. But, it's just a rough path. I'm discouraged, but it will pass. We've been friends for so long, and I'm willing to be patient a little longer. My life is full of waiting, so what's more ?

I'm 27, and my husband is 24. (Both of our birthdays are in December, so we'll be turning 28 and 25, respectively, quite soon.)
In fact, the majority of my relationships have not only been with people younger than myself, but have been with people younger than my little sister, even (that being said, she and I are only 14 months apart, so it's not a huge gap =P). I've only dated two guys who were older than me; one by only 5 months, the other by 6.
I've honestly never understood why people get weird when the girl is the older one. I don't get much flack for it these days (the older you get the less these age gaps seem to matter), but back when I was in high school people would get all freaked out when I first got together with my ex, who was in grade 10 when I was in grade 12. Yet it's not considered unusual when a guy in grade 12 dates a girl in grade 10? Double standards are fun. =/
I am 3 years older than my husband. I think if you love another person, age does not matter.
My boyfriend is 7-8 years older than me. Never been a problem.
On a personal level I would feel kind of weird about it if I was in your position (I'm 23). But if the person is exceptional, then of course I would get over it. As you age it's going to be less and less noticeable anyway! You obviously like him, so put the age shit out of your mind ¦-D you'll likely have bigger problems ahead to focus on when it comes to you getting out of college and him still being there for years.

My ex boyfriend is 9 years older than me. The age gap wasn't a problem, his lack of respect for me was.
One of my good friends is 8 years younger than her husband and they are undoubtedly the best couple I've ever seen. They love and respect each other. I often forget there is an age gap between the two of them.
My boyfriend is 7-8 years older than me. I'm 23. I like to tease him about it sometimes by reminding him that I was still in elementary school when he started college. We met about a week after my 22nd birthday so there wasn't anything creepy about a 29 year old asking a 22 year old out. The only times people have ever thought it was weird was that they didn't expect him to be his age because we both look much younger than our actual ages.
And there was one time my coworker was all freaked out because he thought my boyfriend being 31 meant that I would be 30ish as well and I don't look anywhere close to 30. He had assumed I would be 26 or so based on my job but had always thought I looked younger. There's a lot of "WAIT HOW OLD ARE YOU" or "wtf how old do you think I am!?" that goes on between me and the guys at work lol. I'm the youngest one in my division by 8 years, and the youngest engineer by 10.
I am sorry to hear about his condition, I hope for the best for both your situations. Not seeing your significant other is hard and taxing, but when you do it's like the time never even passed between you two.
Yeah it's generally just a gender swap and the double standard. Like no one bats an eye at Catherine-Zeta Jones marrying someone twice her age, but swings their head at the Aston and Demi.
When love is real, it finds a way~
Yeah, we discussed this and it's not an issue. I still am finishing up my degree (could take a bit longer) then I'm moving right into graduate school for my masters! Woo school! Lol.
I am sorry to hear about his lack of respect for you, that's never a good relationship. There always has to be an equal ground for that.
I love your avatar!! And lol, that's always something to look back on... "You where ___ when I was in ____!" But the age gap does simmer down when you get older. And you're an engineer? Woo for women in science!
Me and my current boyfriend are 5 1/2 years apart. Im 23 turning 24 soon and he turned 29 a few months ago! Doesnt feel weird at all. But I have always liked older men :p I have to agree its a little stranger imo when the girl is older... I have HATED dating younger guys. But that's just my opinion xD But my sister is older than her husband and I know a feel people in that situation and its pretty fine for them.
Guess its just preference c:

You can't help who you fall for! And it depends on who they are and their maturity level and personalities. It's just a double standard from society of how the male always has to be 'dominate' so the age plays into the part of the dominance.
Thank you! Yeah, I love trolling him over it. And now that most of my coworkers are much older than me, I'll troll them too. Yup. I'm 1 of 2 whole female engineers in my department lol. I have one buddy who's so, so sad over no longer being the youngest one around and he gets so annoyed whenever I make fun of him for being a fossil.
Just makes me so happy! I love my fellow science queens. I'm a geologist! I love my fossils and collect them... actually fossils, not older co-workers lol!!
Yaaas me too! Women in STEM are BAMFs. It can be frustrating at work sometimes though, there are STILL people who think I'm an admin and I've been around almost 8 months. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being an admin, but it's just so frustrating to be an engineer and to constantly be mistaken for being some old crusty engineer's secretary just because I'm a girl. Meanwhile, my fave fossil is constantly having to remind people that he's NOT an engineer... bahaha I totally collect coworker-fossils, I feel like I befriend a new one every day.
My wife is 1 year, 3 months, and 12 days older than me (she's 26 and I'm 25). What is interesting is that my wife LOOKS younger than me, likely because she's cute and beautiful while I am neither.
