“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for coming this evening, especially to our outside guests. It is an honor to be hosting the first Ball this institution has seen in quite some time. For those of you who are visiting here from other schools or are learning from home, my name is Professor Appoline Persnickety, the most recent Headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I am very pleased you could make it.†She inclined her head and smiled broadly. She spoke softly, but her voice carried throughout the hall.
Behind her, where the staff table usually stood, was a raised stage. It currently was empty but for a microphone and a set of drums. Off to the side behind some of the circular tables sat a table laden with punch bowls, bottles of butterbeer, and cups. Each of the round tables was covered by a tablecloth that matched the tapestries, and each held six place settings with silver plates, silver goblets, and silver utensils. Each of the place settings at the round tables held a small menu.
"Tonight is not about school work or spell casting," Professor Persnickety continued. "It is a night for all to enjoy themselves. It is a night for all of us to get to know each other a little better, and maybe learn a little about ourselves. So tonight, chat until your throat is hoarse, dance until your feet are sore, and indulge in as much food and drink as you can handle.â€
She glanced behind her to see if the band had started to set up yet. They had not. She sighed silently and turned back to the students.
“As you can see, our band has yet to finish setting up, so the music will be starting a little behind schedule. Until then, take this time to talk amongst yourselves and help yourself to some refreshments. Let the Ball begin!â€
Amanda walked in to the Great hall nervously. She had spent a lot of time on her outfit and hair, and hoped that she fit in with what everyone else chose to wear. Turns out there was no one there yet though! She always had been the type of person who gets places on time. After lingering by the door for a few moments to admire the beautiful decorations, she made her way to a table. She hoped some of her friends would join her soon, so she chose a seat by the door so they would see her easily. Running her fingers through her long hair, she stared in awe at the decorations while she waited.

Rox walked into the Great Hall excited about the upcoming ball, as she had been looking forward to it ever since the first announcement of the ball had been made. She was also nervous about the ball though, as she wasn't sure what she could expect. She had spend so much time on dressing up, that she had believed to be one of the last to enter the Hall, but she soon found out that only one other girl had made it in so far. She looked around in the Hall, staring at the most beautiful decorations she had ever seen and then choose a seat close to the raised stage, waiting on the things that would follow. She hoped others from her house would soon make their appearance in the Hall.

Her arms filled with goosebumps as she stepped through the door, and tiny gold stars rained down across her hair and dress. She nervously took a seat next to Amanda (), then smiled at her gorgeous attire. Her eyes teared up a bit as she observed the beautifully spelled ballroom. She wiped at them, hoping her mascara wasn't already running.
She grabbed a bottle of pumpkin juice and some lunar cookies and slowly nibbled on the edges. Then, she waved to across the room and tottered anxiously in her seat as she watched the band set up their instruments on the stage.
(ooc: You girls look stunning!)
🌸Seeking:Silver walked up to the doors of the great hall, with nerves in check, she walked in, looking around she marveled at all the decorations, taking note of every little detail, walking acroos the hall she sat down waiting for the hall to fill with the other students

Rox saw waving from the other side of the room. She waved back at the other girl, amazed by her outfit, it was gorgeous and unique and perfect for the event.
Rox stood up from her chosen seat and walked towards the table with refreshments. She looked at all of the punch bowls, decided on one of the drinks, even though she believed none of them really fitted with the celestial theme of the ball. Maybe she could try and change the colors on some at a later moment she thought to herself. She also picked some cookies from a plate.
After that she chose a seat closer to the Halls entrance, excited to see the outfits everyone would have on, she was surprised though that still only a handful of people were in. She saw how Silver () came walking in, she had a beautiful gown on. She waved at the other girl when she entered.
Harper made her way over to the punch table and glanced over to the table with her fellow Ravenclaws as she went. She gave them a small wave as she waited for an opening at the table. Once she had a bottle of butterbeer in hand, she quickly pushed through the other students and headed over to join them. Despite the help Gaia gave her with her outfit, she decided to go with something a bit more to the theme. She grinned as she sat beside Amanda () and .
"Hi guys! You both look amazing."

Ceilidh knew she probably didn't fit in too well - she took 'celestial' to be of the angelic sort, not the night sky. But, just in case, she decked herself in dark blue fabric. And lace, lots of lace with dainty zodiac signs worked into the pattern. The wings were a work of art, in her humble opinion. She'd worked on them since she'd heard of the dance. She really, really hopes she doesn't look like an idiot. (Jury's out, honestly.)
Walking in, she took a deep breath. There weren't a ton of people in yet, but there were familiar faces. She smiles at anyone who made eye contact ... and makes her way to the refreshment table.
Gwen walks into the Great Hall. She cannot believe the decorations. She looks around at all the people in their beautiful dress robes. It feels like a faerie tail.
She is worried though, what to do? She has spent all this time studying and hasn't talked to anyone. Hopefully this will change with the ball.

Rose peeked timidly into the Great Hall. Not many people had arrived yet, and the band was still setting up. She took a couple steps into the room, looking around for a familiar face. She waved to a couple of Ravenclaw girls she recognized, then spotted Ceilidh by the refreshment table.
Rose quickly caught up to her. "Hey, , I love your outfit! Wow, did you make those wings yourself?" she asked, amazed by the craftsmanship. She knew that her outfit probably looked quite plain in comparison, but she didn't mind. She actually preferred it that way; having too much attention on herself always made Rose feel nervous.
The band started to enter in from the back room, carrying all of their instruments save for the drums with them. They took a short while to set up, then the lead singer nodded to the Headmistress. Professor Persnickety took her spot in front of the stage again.
“Sonorous,†she said as she touched her wand to her throat. As the Ball was already in full swing, she decided not to bring it to a stop again just to introduce the band. “I’d like to present to you, at last, our live entertainment for the evening: The Wildfire Whiz-bangs!â€
The drummer and guitarist started to play, and Professor Persnickety took the advantage of the instruments to whisper “Quietus†so it would not be too loud as the charm was broken. She hurried off to the side to allow all attention on the band. Their first song was upbeat, with the first minute or two without any lyrics. The band was quick to show exactly why they were called the Wildfire Whiz-bangs. Within thirty seconds of playing, sparks in purples, blues, and reds shot from their instruments in a truly fantastic light display.

Vin stared in awe at the entrance room. The decor and furniture were simply... Amazing. The perfectly placed ribbons, tapestries, and other things seemed to just radiate magic. The young man wandered around a bit until he eventually just followed another group of people in, to finding his way into the great hall. He was struck even more so by the people. They were all dressed so amazingly. Vin had done his best to dress similar to something of the night sky, but these people had really outdone themselves. The next thing he noticed was that they were all girls, which worried him a bit about not quite fitting in with the other people at the ball.
Vin simply stood in silence before the headmistress spoke. He listened as she spoke, raising his eyebrows ever so slightly. Once she was done the young man took his time to look around. He pondered if he should join in with any of the groups that were currently chatting, but before he could fully decide, the headmistress spoke once again, announcing the appearance of a band he wouldn't usually expect at a ball, but he didn't pay it any mind, considering the light display along with the music itself.
A Horns & Roses fan!
Glad that some people joined her, she looked at Harper and Elune saying, "Wow, you guys look great too! We're going to have to get a group picture before the end of the night!" Realizing that she was thirsty, she excused herself and headed over to the refreshment table. She waved at people as she passed. There were many familiar faces, but some new faces too! ( ).
She nibbled on some cookies while watching the band get set up. They looked amazing, and she couldn't wait to see what kind of music they played! Once they started, she knew it was going to be a very exciting show. Swaying to the music, she waited to see who would start dancing first.

"Hi! You're Serena, right? From Slytherin?" Harper asked as Serena () sat at the table. "Love what you did to your hair! Really goes well with your dress."
Harper watched Amanda leave from the table and over to the refreshments. Amanda passed by Vin, and Harper's eyes stopped on him. She leaned over to Serena and Elune and whispered, "Who is that? Is he from the school or is he one of the guests?"
Lapis enters the Great Hall and finds her eyes pulled upward towards the sparkling stars twinkling down from the ceiling. She becomes distracted with trying to identify constellations and wonders briefly if she ought to mention the extra star in Orion's Belt to anyone before sheepishly shaking her head and heading over to the canapes. After filling a goblet and piling some bites on a small dish , Lapis scoots over to the table that is quickly filling up with her fellow Ravenclaw housemates. Finding a seat, she grins and nods to everyone before turning her attention to the band.

MG walked in to the great hall, she was feeling nervous, this was her first ball. She was also excited, she loved her new friends! She noticed her friend Rox and was glad to see her! She walked over. "Hey , how are you? You look gorgeous tonight, i am so glad i found yo. I was nervous i would'nt recognize anyone, i am still a bit new!"
MG smiled with delight, and looked at the band with enjoyment, she did love music after all. Wondering if she would say yes if anyone asked her to dance!
She noticed and decided to wave, she looked beautiful!
Elune attempted to chat with her friends over the music. It was nervous chatting, really, because she was avoiding looking at the empty dance floor. She knew she'd need to brave it at some point, especially when Gaia arrived.
She tapped her feet on the floor then turned toward Harper. "I'm pretty sure he's a guest? I wonder if he's from Durmstrang..." () She began nervously rambling about how Durmstrang meant "stress and storm," among other things. She questioned why the founders would name a school that.
She stopped herself then and noticed Lapis staring intently at the stars overhead. "You really know your astronomy, don't you?" She smiled warmly, then glanced toward the ceiling for a moment. "You look beautiful, Lapis. The gold in your dress really accents the stars here."
🌸Seeking:Lapis tapped her fingers on the table to the upbeat music streaming from the stage. Everyone was still milling around and not quite comfortable enough to dance. Her eyes kept creeping up to that extra star. Suddenly she noticed Elune mentioning a love of astronomy. "I have a thing for constellations I guess. And nitpicking details apparently! There's an extra star in Orion's belt and...oh, ugh, never mind, I'm just so nervous! It took me forever to decide what to wear! You look lovely too. Very wizardly."

Goldy wandered into the Great Hall, her eyes captured by the lights floating above them. She did her best to not be overwhelmed by the students milling around tables, waiting for the band to start. She fiddled nervously with her skirt as she walked over to the food and punch. She was a bit timid for socializing, she was mostly here to dance.
Soon after taking the first bite of her cookie the headmistress announced the band had arrived. She relaxed slightly as she watched them set up. As they started to play she started dancing to herself, ignoring the people who watched her. Giving up on the cookie, it was too hard to eat and dance at the same time, she placed her plate at an empty table and danced onto the dance floor. The skirt made it difficult for her to move at times but the energy of the band's song kept her going.
