Turning toward Harper, "Yes, my name is Serena. And thank you! My parents got it in a muggle store. It's supposed to wash out after a couple of washes! What house are you in?"
Rin peeked into the great hall nervously. There were so many people and some of the outfits looked like tripping hazards. Her own was, that was for sure. Her attention was drawn to the stage and she squinted, looking for any sign of electrical mechanisms.
Rox saw MG () walking into the Hall, she knew that she other girl was still a bit nervous as she was new. She waved to the other girl, who then walked over to her and asked her how she was. "I'm doing great, loving the ball so far, the refreshments are great. Just waiting for the music to start. How are you? You look very beautiful, that's an amazing dress".
Rox noticed how Professor Persnickety was making her way over to the stage again and heard the announcement about the music. Finally she thought, now this party is really going to start. With people slowly coming in, the music playing and the refreshments that were all ready, this was starting to become an amazing ball.
Cardamom fiddled with the hem of her lace sleeves for what felt like the umpteenth time and wondered again why she had chosen to wear such high heels. Merlin forbid she may need to attend to any prefect duties tonight - she would never catch any troublemakers in this dress she had chosen. Still. She thought she looked nice enough, happy to mingle and watch the younger students accustom themselves to the extravagant amount of detail the professors always put into their parties. Secretly, the sixth year girl wondered what it might look like to see the wizarding adults let their hair down without their students around.
The wafting smell of overly spiced pumpkin juice lured her over to the spread the house elves had put out for the occasion. See, this is why she'd gone without lipstick - she hated the weird taste of the magical brand EverWear Beauty, and really, like she was going to miss any opportunity to stuff her face...

On the way, she noticed moving by herself on the dance floor. The music suddenly stopped. For a few seconds, Goldy hovered in her spot and looked around. Then, the song, "Oblivate" started up. Gold sparks flew from the guitarist's strings whenever a chord was struck.
Elune froze. This was one of her favorite songs; it started rather sober and eerie, but midway through, the chorus picked up. Without thinking too much, she set her glass down and walked toward the dance floor. She stopped next to Goldy then began yelling over the loud music, "Hi there. I don't believe we've met before. I'm Elune, from Ravenclaw." She paused to glance at the stage. Then, she began swaying next to Goldy.
🌸Seeking:Rin spotted and skittered over to her quickly, shoulders hunched. She tapped her on the shoulder to get her attention and said, "You look pretty."
As a song wrapped up, the lead vocalist, Aurora Blackwell, cleared her throat and spoke into the microphone, “All right, we’re going to take a short break! More tunes when we return, kiddos!â€
The band stepped off the stage, except for the flutist. Aoife Nightlark walked up to the microphone and paused, looking around. She bent down, pulling off a shoe, and tapped the microphone. She spoke softly into the mic, “And if you could just look around, I seem to have lost a shoe.â€
She held up the shoe she took off so that the students could see it.

“It looks like this one. Thank you.â€
She gave a smile, then walked off the stage barefoot.
(OOC Note: members can sMail the name of the shoe to earn 10 House Points! Non-members can as well, but only members will be awarded points for correct answers. Please do not post the name here. You do not have to buy the item!)
Professor Makshi smiled politely and clapped as the band took a break. The decorations looked beautiful and she could see people were having a great time. She walked over to the punch bowl and helped give some out to the tired students. "Would anyone like some punch? Or water?"

Max walked into the great hall. It was slowly starting to fill. Unsure what to do he looked around to see if there was anyone he knew. Until know there were only girls around. He hoped to see a guy too so he wouldn´t feel so alone. For now he spotted and went over to say hi.

As promised, the band came back after only a few minutes. Aoife Nightlark was still barefoot. It seemed she had not yet found her shoe. It didn’t seem to bother her, however, and the band started off their next set with a slow song.
Carlisle Caswell, the flying instructor, decided it was time to make his move. He didn’t mind chaperoning the students, but he had hoped to dance a little himself, even if just for one song. He spotted Professor Makshi () across the hall and grinned. He had always thought she was pretty, but tonight she looked radiant. He watched her for a moment, then straightened his coat. In just a few long strides, he was in front of her.
“A dance, m’lady?†he asked as he extended his hand to her.
(OOC Note: you are still able to send answers for the challenge until the end of the Ball!)
Goldy swirled around the dance floor, not paying much attention to lyrics but rather the tempo and rhythm of the song. She slowed down towards the end and smiled when another girl approached her. "Hello ! You're right, I don't think we've met before. My name's Goldy, from Hufflepuff." she shouted back over the music. She slowed her dancing down to mostly torso movements so she wouldn't wander away from the Ravenclaw.
As the band announced their brief break she deflated a little. Elune seemed to know quite a few other students and as they came over to chat she drifted to the back of the group speaking to her. The flutists announcement caught her attention, Goldy scanned across the floor, hoping to find a hint of the mysteriously missing shoe. She wondered if somebody had magicked it somewhere, and hoped they didn't. It would be a terrible thing to do to the night's entertainment. With all of the dresses bright colors it was difficult to notice anything pink and purple so she gave up as the band retook the stage.
A slow song seemed to be first on the list, not much she could do there without a partner. Instead she swayed to the song, wishing she could gracefully leap across the floor like a ballerina.
Emma edged into the Great hall around the open doors, feeling very exposed and awkward in her dress robes. These clothes didn't feel right to her, somehow...
She looked around for her friends. It was harder to see them here than in the common room, with the students from other houses milling about and dancing. She was simultaneously joyous and jealous as she saw Professor Makshi and Professor Caswell dancing together. She was wishing that she had decided to wear her sari, too. At least she would have been wearing clothes that were hers and that she was familiar with.
Emma leaned against the wall, still close to the door, uncertain of what she was supposed to do. She had never been to a function like this. And it was splendid--the decorations, the people, the music... The food smelled delicious, though she wasn't hungry.
She watched the dancing and chattering students with curiosity, the buzzing filling her ears.
Amanda watched people dancing, and it was a beautiful sight! The dresses were swirling, and people looked so happy! She watched Professors Caswell and Makshi dancing with one another, and it made her smile. They were very graceful, and it was nice to see their teachers outside of the classroom.
Since the band was on a break, she went back over to her table to see which of her friends were gathered there. The flutist of the band came on stage, looking for her shoe. Amanda scanned the Great Hall to see if she could see it anywhere. She hoped someone would find it! It wasn't easy to flute with only one shoe.
She looked at Serena, Elune, and Harper and some others and said happily, "Hi again guys! The band is great! I can't wait to see their next set. What do you guys think!?" ( )
Seeing a girl just entering the hall and looking a little nervous Amanda gave her a happy smile and a wave before giving her a friendly gesture signifying that she could come join there group if she'd like.

Poppy was late.
She was extremely nervous, but the butterflies in her stomach settled once she saw how stunning the Great Hall looked and the smile on Professor Persnickety's face. The band seemed amazing, and was that Caswell dancing with Professor Makshi?
Poppy made a beeline for her fellow Slytherin House prefect Serena (), who was with a group of friends and familiar faces. She was dying to take a picture to remember the evening and the gorgeous dress robes by. "What did I miss? I love how your hair turned out and your shoes!" Poppy exclaimed to Amanda ().

Amanda was happy to see Poppy join their group. She gave her a quick one armed hug in her excitement and said happily, "Thank you! You look gorgeous. I love that dress, and your hair looks fab! You haven't missed much. Apparently the flutist lost her shoe, and we're currently trying to find it!" She giggled because she still thought it was funny that the lady was missing her shoe.

Emma started as a girl she didn't know waved at her and beckoned her over. She took one step away from the wall, glancing about the Great Hall to see if she could see her friends, but she still couldn't see anyone she knew.
She took another step. And another. Slowly she moved towards the table of students, studying each face. None of them were Hufflepuffs. Though she recognized a few faces from classes, she didn't know their names.
Emma wiped her sweaty palms on the skirt of the dress as she took the last few steps towards the girl who had beckoned her over. She opened her mouth to say "hi," but no sound came out.
She cleared her throat, embarrassed by this failed attempt at communication. Emma dropped her face a little lower, watching the other students through her lashes.
"Hallo," she muttered.
||
"I wonder if she's had a Firewhisky or two?" Poppy chuckled as she returned Amanda's hug. "Her unshod foot must be getting cold! I'm glad the Headmistress helped us out with preparing for this night because it made me feel a lot more at ease."
"Your dress robes are lovely." Poppy turned to a pretty Hufflepuff girl who had approached rather shyly.

"Oh, I um... Thank you," Emma said to the girl who addressed her. "I--I like your hair. It's very pretty. Might I ask how you got the gemstones to stay in your hair like that?"
Emma felt a little braver talking to them, but she still didn't sit down. She wasn't certain how welcome she would be here. She also didn't want her friends to think that she had forgotten about them, but it had seemed rude not to accept the invitation of the girl with flowers in her hair to join in their conversation

"They're threaded on a piece of clear wire. A charm is helping to keep them hanging correctly. I wanted something green to accessorize with since this hanbok is so very black. I'm Poppy by the way. It's nice to meet you Emma."
