So i've been eyeing a pet name for a little while, very upset that I couldn't have it. Only recently did I investigate further to find that the account is up for clearing soon! Now leaves the anxious waiting.

So I wanted to know, does anyone else stalk pet names? Are there names that look like they might belong to inactive accounts, that you hope will one day become available? Are there any names eligible to be cleared that you're currently waiting on? Have you ever gotten a pet this way?

Edit: The name just cleared and my boyfriend snatched him up for me! Once I get a new pet slot, Thane Krios (from Mass Effect) will be moving in.

Currently I am not waiting for a name to clear, and the one I have been stalking for about 2 years now (or even longer, I can't really remember...) is probably never going to be available since the User seems to log in every once in a while.

I've gotten most of my Pet names in clearings, and some of them under the new rule of "only the eligible Accounts turn inactive". (:

But I feel your pain, the waiting is the worst part, espceially if you fear the User might come back.

That's really the worst, when they're on just enough to be active, but you still feel like they aren't giving the site, or the pet, the attention it deserves.

Part of me is also terrified that someone else is stalking the same name, and will get to it before me. Although the name doesn't seem to be too popular, so hopefully I'll get lucky haha

I'm never going to judge anyone about that tbh. If they are fairly active, they might do something with their characters offsite, that's always possible. (The User I mean has no "last seen" status, so I cannot really say if they are really active or just logging in once per year to keep their Account xD) Though I don't really understand this behavior. You don't care enough to be active on Subeta, but you log in once per year to keep your Account and Pet names? Well... not sure what to say about that. x'D

Aw, you never know! Even names you might think being popular can be free for hours, I had this with Carlo for example. I forgot about the name clearing that day, and hours later I was like "When did it clear now? Tomorrow?" and when I checked it, it was already on an inactive Account. Surprised it wasn't taken by that time. x'D

Most of my pets come from stalking accounts and waiting for them to be cleared. It was the worst back when there was a mass purge at a given date, because the site literally went down seconds before the full hour due to mass refreshing.

I'm actually surprised I managed to get some of the names I did. I've missed many more to other people, though.

At the moment I am watching two names. One that's frozen clearing in 2016, another one on an account that someone appears to be using every 6 months. It's pretty aggravating, but oh well. I'd probably stalk more names if I actually had ideas what to look up. Most of the stuff I'm largely interested in has already cleared and is now on active accounts.

I'm currently not actively stalking any name but a lot of my Pets got their names from clearings. The latest one was Tormentor, however his name was still free a while after the actual clearing, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten him thanks to my crap working hours. Lucky for once that no one besides me did care for the him.

I'm stalking a few names, but their owners seem pretty active. Still, I can always hope. You never know what could happen.

Two of my pets (Roderich and Shio) came from cleared names, but I wasn't actually stalking them. I just got lucky in that when I checked, they were available.

One name, account looks semi inactive, clears in 9 months

It's not something I normally do, but there is a name that I am quite keen to have and I have noticed that the owner hasn't been for a while so fingers crossed. I've been looking it up for a while actually, last time they logged in with a month to go so I'm a bit on edge.

I love finding names and stalking them, even though I'm not always successful. My most recent snag was "No," although I was a few seconds late to getting it as I just got out of class at 2:55, so I don't know if anyone was actually after it. Glad I was able to get it, though. I love short names.

i've gotten the majority of my pets from stalking them and then trying for them during clearings. there are a few pets that i keep my eye on but for the most part they're on pretty active accounts, other than that i haven't really been watching any names closely. i wish i could find some i'd be interested in though, it's so unusual to for me to have open slots!

I've been stalking a particular name for about three years now. They look like they're inactive, yet that bar never comes up saying they'll be available soon. I just... I can't. It hurts.

Then again, I waited a few years for Margaret, so I suppose it's just a waiting game.

I wish i was a bigger go-getter when it came to hunting down names from frozen accounts. But doing it manually is tedious. Often times I will just book mark names i like that might have inactive users than i check on them way later. The only name i've deliberately stalked the day of, is trident, and i got it.

There's a name I've been stalking since.... pretty much the day I joined. Even the shorthand and the nickname I use for said name have never come in to clearing.... So I've given up on that one.

Then there was Vows. Vows wasn't the name I was going for, but after three years of stalking for the original one I wanted, I just gave in and took Vows when it came up for clearing.

There's one that I intend to get today as soon as I get myself another pet slot. I don't think I'll have to worry about it being taken in that time.

There's two names I am currently stalking, but I kind if doubt I'll get them ;3;! But I'll have my fingers crossed!!

I've been successful in getting most names I've stalked such as: Roselle, Tamaki, Cove, Siberian, Banished, and Calibur.

I got Clint from a clearing and I have been stalking Bucky for more than a year and was quite surprised I got him on my phone. Now I'm stalking two other names of which one will clear next month. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed haha.

I'm not stalking any names currently, and I tend to miss them anyway. xD

The only name I got during a clearning (that I still own) was Blaine.

I got Tavern by stalking the name. I still have a whole list of other names I'm keeping an eye on, one who's clearing in February, so fingers crossed.

I am a bit upset though cause there was this one name that was almost a year old that I'd been stalking for the past 8 months, and it just became available but I didn't have enough slots... Then the user logged back in the next day >.>

The only name I have that I got from a clearing so far is Zydrate. I am watching a few names. One of the names I really wanted, their owner just became active again fairly recently :L Oh well, I no longer need it for what I originally was going to do with it so it would probably just sit for an eternity along with half of my current pets lol

I recently got my pet Curaga through stalking, haha. I just started stalking a name today, it belongs to an inactive account but I want to save it for my Halloween pet this year (I'm a nerd who likes her pets to have certain birthdays sue me). I'm really shocked no one else has pounced on it, tbh-- so I'm kind of nervous waiting til October 31st to nab it.
