So let's talk weekend quests... With the Quest-A-Thon having just wrapped up, quests seem particularly relevant at the moment.
Here's a tally of all the quests for the last 2.5 years (2013-present):
Interesting tidbits... It's been 27 weeks since we've had a Cursed weekend. Quentin and Saggi aren't too much better, sitting at 20 and 18 respectively.
What this doesn't really show... In the last two months (10 weekends), half of them have been Library. Of the remaining half, Maleria and Cinthia each have 2, with Pete sitting at 1.
So that's where my numbers of skewed. For 2015, Wiz and Library are tied for most quests (7 each), but Library has had 5/7 in 2 months, while Wiz has had that many in 7.
And poor Cursed. A single weekend at the beginning of January.
Here's a look at the percentage breakdown per year for all the quests.
So, first thing you can see- some large disparities. Quentin was extremely popular back in 2013, while Library and Wiz are sharing the spotlight right now in 2015. (See note above regarding Wiz/Lib 2015 timelines.)
Breaking it down further to just 2015:
It's clear that the staff took a look at the Wizard's high numbers around May, and chose to quell the quests. But what's not clear is why Saggi and Cursed have only had one weekend this YEAR, while Alex at the Library seems to have hijacked 's account...
During this whole time, I'm not looking at economic impacts- I know. I know Saggi introduces are large amount of sp into the system. Same with Wizard- a lot of people have stockpiles of tokens. What I'm trying to focus on is the large disparities of quests. It simply isn't fun to tune in on Friday only to see Alex, AGAIN.
[Ninja edit] My simple suggestion... stick to a schedule. I know it doesn't allow for a lot of discretion by staff, but looking at these numbers, maybe that's a good thing. :/ As kindly pointed out, "if users knew which WSQ was coming up, all the items they ask for would be through the roof immediately that week." So, sticking to a schedule isn't a good plan anymore.
General notes: Though Carl had three weekends back in 2013, he and Sarah have been taken out of circulation. I assume it is due to their quests being somewhat special. Computer quests were retired sometime in the beginning of 2014, while Cinthia's was revamped at the end of 2013.

Holy charts. I love this post. Kudos, !
Here's how sticking to a schedule doesn't work, though: if users knew which WSQ was coming up, all the items they ask for would be through the roof immediately that week. :(
I wonder why quests can't have a cool-down period after they've been WSQ. Two weeks, say? Would this be really hard to code?
Personally, I think that Saggi should be removed from the weekend quest pool. His quests are as special as Sarah, and honestly, I'm tired of SP being devalued during these weekend.
CHARTS.
Will take a look at the randomization and see if we can make it at least a little more ... well, random.
💖 ✨ 🤗
<3 Thank you. Would very much appreciate a mostly random* weekend quest. *Perhaps don't allow the same quest giver two weeks in a row.
(Glad you liked the charts. Took a while to compile the data.)
i, too, have missed seeing cursed quests as wsq! clearly i wasn't in the wrong when thinking it'd been a while. wow.
^ this. while the payouts are fun the first day of him being wsq, saggi's quests become unbearable and unable to be done for at least a week afterwards. at least.
a cooldown sounds neat. the pet spotlight has one, so i'm hoping it wouldn't be too difficult to implement for wsqs as well?
Wouldn't mind to see both Wizard and Saggi removed from the pool, tbh. Tokens are finally back to a decent price and we really don't need sP mass-injected into the system + mass item inflation thanks to Saggi's weekend quests.
Heck, add battle quests (small extra % boost of exp) or Major Drills (slightly higher chance of better prizes) to the weekend quests instead of those two. After giving the Major's quests a major overhaul pls.
I have less problems with Wizard, because Wizard can be done by everyone and is the only 100% source of tokens we got. However, I'd be okay with the tokens being reduced, and brought back to 10/5/2 for normal days, and 20/15/for weekends.
Reducing the amount of bonus tokens would definitely work better, now that you mention it! I don't mind the current amount of tokens being put out by default since we do have more or less regular TS restocks nowadays and that keeps the prices stable, but the wsq token rewards for the wizard are a little overkill.
These are such pretty charts. ___
I do love me some Library Quests, but I'd also really like to see a more even randomization pattern, just to be fair. I'm glad it's getting looked at.
I'm bothered by Wizard spitting out 20 pointers on normal days because I'm cranky.
BACK IN MY DAY, IT WAS 10 POINTERS AND YOU HAD TO RELY ON ORACLE FOR 15 POINTERS.
Back in our day, we didn't get a 50 pointer for the last wizard quest! We had to walk 30 miles through the Arctic Frost blizzards just to finish 30 Wizard quests with a GA and had to search for items in a new tab instead of hitting "Search Shops"! -shakes cane- Dang kids and their tokens...
But yeah, jokes aside, the newly released token shop items do tend to be a bit on the pricy side which more or less evens the default payout out, but the wsq Wizard needs to give out a bit less tokens.
Normal days goes to 15-10-5 and weekend is 20-15-10, then?
You can easily get 250 tokens daily without a GA (350 with GA?) and I honestly think that's good as is? You earn... at least double that for the WSQ, I believe?
A 20 default + a chance of 10 bonus for the WSQ would be better, I feel.
Looking at the other WSQ rewards in comparison: other than the small sP boost, we're not 100% guaranteed a retired/special book from Alex, or the special toy quest rewards, or Maleria's special WSQ rewards. Wizard and Saggi, however, are a guaranteed profit, which is why people do them like mad when they're WSQ and we get a massive flood of sP or tokens in the system.
Back when he spat out 10 wasn't it also 20-30 quests a day though? So....honesty it's about the same added up.
Not for taking Saggi and Wiz out. While Saggi does spit out a ton of sP it also shoots up the value of items in shops for awhile because when Saggi is weekend EVERYONE IS THERE. So between the sP and inflated prices it kind of evens out in the end.
But yes, please make the quests a little more random. I love Library and even I'm getting tired of seeing his face every Friday at midnight.
My inner stats nerd is squealing with delight at the charts. YES. I APPROVE. :D
I am also glad to hear that the randomness is being looked into. A cool down period or prevention of back to back weekends is a nice idea as well. :)
I'm just here to appreciate the effort you put into the charts. :o
The only way this post could have been better is if the last graph was more like this:

(I'm not going to make you redo it though. I'm not that awful. :P)

I don't think it actually even out much at all :( While the inflated values are good on the items, when they are being bought from other users it doesn't actually remove the millions that are generated during the Saggi Weekend.
Combine that with thebleft over inflation that takes awhile to get rid of and it is actually a hinddrence.
I have no idea what that graph is even marking. There's no legend, y-axis, or descriptive title!

I do have this graph also at my disposal:

Thought it was too messy for the first post.
I love me a good graph. But overall, I hate the weekend quests and wouldn't mind them being done away with forever. But I the minority here on this opinion.
