As some of you know, I adopted a love bird (Buddy) last Sunday. He has adapted really well and can now fly from my computer room to his cage (yes, he's clipped) and vise versa. He can also fly to come find me. He's very sweet and comes from an senior who cannot take care of him anymore and I've always liked Buddy and wanted to give him a home.
Anyway, he flew to this fish tank and was trying to drink from the filter!! I had to get up and get him.
I'll probably end up getting rid of my 10G (which I've had for a year). I like fish, but they get expensive after awhile. It's just one more thing to clean on top of two hamsters and a bird.
So, CC, what are thoughts about getting rid of the fish tank AND what have you caught your pet doing?
Edit: Buddy actually drank out of the fish tank -_-
Mmm, fish tank water. Creme de la creme. Just enjoy the little horrors. Pets are disgusting little monsters sometimes. That's why we love them.
On the fish tank... Why get rid of it when you found a new water source for Buddy? Come oooonnnnn, it's fishy goodness! If you're not really into keeping a tank then I'm sure your attention would be enjoyed elsewhere. I frequently look at them but then reconsider it for the cleaning reason.
Caught my pet doing... peeking at my mother and I through every reflective surface in the house. My cat is just the creepiest little stalker! She has a great view of us through the stove when she's having a snack so she'll eat and stare at us through the stove's glass. She'll watch us through the dishwasher's front. She'll stare at us through the bathroom mirror. It's to the point that if we had mirrors all over the house she'd probably see us in the bathroom from the living room scratch post down the hall and around the corner. Far too smart, and she uses it to be a peeper.
My boyfriend's dog likes to steal things from the neighbors. We live in a rural setting so there's not a lot of hazards during the day. The dog likes to go play with the neighbor's kids, then he steals their toys when the children go inside. We've caught him with a cup and a penguin plushie so far.
The hedgehog likes to try to climb her cage walls, unsuccessfully. If she's out, I've seen her climb all over my bed in order to hide underneath my pillows to take a nap. She'll get under a bit of the blanket and everything to get comfy.
My cat likes to hide in all sorts of places. I've watched her get of the laundry basket, from underneath a layer of clothes, in order to grab a bite to eat. She'll then return to her hiding spot and pull clothes over her or find a new spot if she thinks someone found her old one. If she sees the dog at all during this, she'll go to the door and start jumping up to claw at the windows. She stops once she realizes that he's outside.
Silly bird! Fish water is icky. Bleh. I have a one gallon tank on my desk, with a betta who likes to stare at me when I'm on the computer. (I think I told you about him in another thread - it's amazing how much more active and colorful he is in the week or so I've had him!) And I have a 1.5 gallon tank on a shelf across the room with a red cap oranda (goldfish) and a snail in it. They're a pain to clean, sure, but I don't think I'd ever get rid of them.
Then there's my hermit crabs, one of which is a serial shell-changer, as in he has a different shell every few days. I have a bunch of shells in their cage, all proper sizes, good quality, but I guess he just can't make up his mind. He's in one a few sizes bigger than he needs right now though, and he's been in it a few days, so maybe he'll stay in it a while.
I also have two cats - a 9-year-old tabby girl (Holly) and a 5-year-old grey and white girl with white socks (Emma). They're my babies. Holly never does anything wrong, although she does whine for attention sometimes, which I've heard is a tabby thing. Emma though, if the cat box is not 100% clean and smooth on top, she will crap on the rug outside of the box. My mom yells when she finds the crap on the floor and tells me 'You're their mother - you clean it up!' Which I do and don't mind, because at least she only does it in that one spot. I wish I could break her of it though.
I really like my fish tank and I like fish, but my boss is the one who suggested maybe I should get rid of it because I have the bird now. My mom thinks it's a good idea to shut the tank down and convert my 25G into a terrarium. I'm two parts away from completing the tank. All I'm missing is the heater and filter.
I've heard of cats pooping on floors when they're unhappy. At least she only poops in that one spot and not all over the house, which I'm sure your mom will be very unhappy.
Hedgehogs are cute. I've never owned an exotic. I'd like a gecko during some point of my life.
LOL! He wants their toys because apparently they are more fun than his own.
Buddy likes my hamster, Sable (even though she gently nipped his tail). They were out together last night. Buddy wanted to be on the desk when she was on it, so he hopped on and went where she was. When she got too close, he just backed away. He didn't seem to be uncomfortable around her (no shaking the tail). He likes her. Even goes on her cage when she's up and looks at her. He even went in her cage once.
My boss said that one time there was a cockatiel at the store who drank nothing but fish water. Even bathed in it lol
Oh gosh, I'm sure the water was gross but that's also cute :)
My dog is one of the derpiest dogs I have ever seen. One thing that he does that is so adorable is that he will chase after butterflies in my backyard. Oh my gosh he prances and everything. It makes me melt, but I also know that he'd just try to eat it if he ever caught one. (Which he hasn't yet, ha.)
Also, while on a walk, he makes me stop so that he can roll around in the grass under the shade of trees. If it has been snowing, he'll also make me stop on the walk so that he can play in mounds of snow left by a snow-plower.
The last thing, which is a typical corgi thing, is that he follows me around everywhere. I go down to the basement, so does he. I go upstairs, so does he. I walk around the kitchen 7 times, so does he. He is literally my shadow. He'll do this to an extent with my mom when I'm not home, but the moment I'm home, he has to be where I'm at. He doesn't have separation anxiety cause he's totally cool when I have to leave, but he just likes to be around me whenever I'm home. :)
If my husband is alone with the black cat she'll get very affectionate, then if I go into that room, she'll look at me then immediately move away from him. Caught you, hussy!

I have a mischievous 4 and a half pound Pomeranian Yorkie mix who is pure clown. I was on my computer in the office and he was in here chilling with me but then decided that both of us needed to go in the living room for whatever reason. So he stands up and walks to the door and barks at me to get my attention. After I told him no a couple of times he finally gave up on me and walked out of the room and out of sight. Only he was clearly right outside of the door waiting because I could hear him sneezing and shuffling in the hallway.
He also LOVES my sleep mask and my bras and I have caught him several times in the process of dragging them from the bedroom. He gets his paws tangled up in the straps and it's too cute.

The other day one of my dogs pooped in the garden, I went inside to grab a bag to clean it up and by the time I came back out my sister's dog was eating it :I
I've also caught the sister's dog on several occasions coming out of her cat's litter tray (it's one of the ones with the plastic dome on top) looking far too pleased with himself. I think he has a problem.
[.The.Sugar] Although it might be gross, it's no uncommon for dogs to eat poop :|
haha, maybe not but I'd still rather he wouldn't, I've been lucky enough to not have a dog that did it until now XD apparently chihuahuas are especially bad for it though.
Quite a while back (several years), my cat started this strange habit of yowling really loudly throughout the house in a rather mournful way, and for the longest time my family had no idea what was going on. One day, I guess I accidentally snuck up on my cat, but I saw him pick up his teddy bear toy in his mouth and start yowling. The moment he heard me, though, he stopped meowing, turned around and looked at me with eyes the size of dimes and his teddy bear still in his mouth, promptly dropped the teddy bear, and ran away like I'd tried to give him a bath. He hasn't stopped the yowling, but since then I've never actually seen him when he's meowing.
I keep catching my cat drinking from the toilet, I got home yesterday and there were little paw prints on the toilet seat and bowl. He always has access to clean water so I don't know why he does it
My cat likes to sit on tables in front of pens, stare at them for a bit, and then knock them onto the ground before going about her visit. I also once caught her licking the wall.
I've caught my dog eat leaves off a tree...
She's been doing it for years now...
She's totally addicted...
My bird Pearl (cockatiel) likes to sit on small perches for some reason. I let Sigfried (zebra finch) out of his cage for a fly and left his door open and she snuck in there and decided to have a nap on the tiniest perch! I don't understand how she can find that comfortable. Pearl also like to sit on the chandelier above the light bulb and warm her bum on it. She does the same thing with my laptop and any warm electronics. I should just buy her a heating pad to sit on I guess haha.
My cat Juno tries to hunt but when I call her name she turns to look at me and whine before running up to me. At least she listens though but it's really funny how upset she is about it lol. She also tries her hardest to open the tin that has the cat treats in it.

Last night I caught my cats snuggled up next to each other under a side table by our couch. They don't normally snuggle together, but they were hiding from the suuuper scary fireworks noises. I wish I had gotten a picture, but when I AWWWWW'd like an idiot, they moved.
I have two pet red-eared slider turtles. Over the winter, they can't stay outside because it gets too cold where I live and the pond will freeze over, so I put them in a tank. One day before school, I heard a loud crash coming from downstairs. Paranoid me grabbed some pepper spray and a knife and headed downstairs, carefully. I was finally downstairs and looked around. Everything seemed normal, so I dismissed it. Then came the time where I had to feed my turtles. I only noticed one. The other couldn't be hiding because there wasn't much inside of the tank to hide in. I got really worried and looked all around. Turns out, she jumped out of the tank and was crawling around the floor. She's super fast, too, so I spent a while trying to catch her and put her back in the tank. She has done this many times, and frankly, I'm surprised she's still alive.
