So orginally I went to the Bugs forum to post this but found it had already been reported and the topic locked. Turns out you can't right click, use ctrl + click, or use the extensions to open multiple links anymore in those shops.
This sucks.
It is tedious buying everything as I get trinkets so I hoard them then mass buy. It was always really easy before, just hold down ctrl/right click and buy everything quickly. Now I have to click on buy, load that page, go back to the shop (which defaults to 2015, not the year I was on), go back to said year, and buy next item. That is four extra pages I have to load instead of just one. The worse part is that it defaults back to 2015 so if I'm buying stuff from the bottom of 2013 for example I have to go back to the year, scroll down, then find out where I left off.
The timer like the one at Skitters was annoying but at least I could work around it and just pause a moment between buying. I'd rather have the 5 second timer back then this method. Hell I'd rather have a pop-up confirmation because usually you can still right click and bypass that anyway.
Or you know, you could always fix the double buying?

Pshhh. Yeah right.
This is a bummer. I finished most of 3014 and was goin gig to move on to 2015, but likely won't even bother. What a waste of time.
I'M SO ANNOYED ABOUT THIS CHANGE. I have literally hundreds of items to buy from that shop, and I didn't want to start until the end of Masquerade, since there are so many and it would just be easier to do it all at once. I'm not looking forward to having to do it this way.
I get that some people don't like the confirmation pop-ups but that would be a much more convenient change than the one that was actually made. Was there really no other possible option? Was the bug really not fixable any other way? Really?
Ugh what the hell I was doing right clicking through the whole event and didn't have a single problem. Why change it now?
A one-second timer would literally fix this, but nope, SUBETA LOGIC.
This is extremely frustrating... and I don't understand the logic behind implementing it. The problem could easily be fixed by adding a 5 second (or 4 second or 3 second....) timer between purchases.
I wanted to wait until the end of the event to save my tokens up and then make decisions about purchasing based on that number. Now that task seems a lot more daunting. :/
I'm much more likely to end up buying two of an item because I have to switch from the 2013 tab and scroll through literally hundreds of items for a single purchase multiple times.
This is so tedious considering these shops have tons of items and OP already covered how you'd have to backtrack through the pages to buy the next item that you need.
I don't know how many or how often people end up with duplicates as I've never had that problem from right-clicking, but I can't see why they can't be refunded or heck they could trade/sell the duplicates if it was bought legitimately (as in, the correct amount was deducted from their total). Not to mention a few more clicks can get you more of the currency that you need. I'm sorry for anyone that has to deal with a glitch in the first place but it seems like something that can be fixed rather than screwing over everyone?
I'm all for either a timer or a confirmation popup.
When you have catching up to do on wearables and books (and lots of it for the former), it is really annoying having to buy something, go back to that tab (since it is the latest year by default), and have to scroll back down the page all over again. The fact that I sometimes forget what I previously bought because of the tedious process actually made me purchase MORE duplicates than what I did previously.

Not much to add on this since everyone has already said it, but staff should /really/ understand that screwing over practically everyone to fix an issue that a handful had is /not/ the way to go. Seriously.
I love Subeta, and hate to sound like I don't, but I'm getting tired of the annoyances that seem to pop up in the name of "fixing" things. =/
Art by ~ Sig by ~Well...I might never get around to buying these items now!!!
I was about to go try and post in Bugs about this. I always wait until I have a good bit of trinkets and go through buying a handful of things. I've never had a single issue with this method and it makes buying things very easy. Now its just tedious and annoying.
I love that instead of fixing a problem Subeta just makes a different problem that affects more people.
It just took me 30 minuets to buy the 3rd row of lounge food items for the 2015 tab, this is so incredibly annoying. Its really putting me off from wanting to buy all the clothing I was really wanting from the Steamworks shop. This process is so incredibly slow.
i buy multiple items by clicking on an item then hitting "ESC" so the page stops loading before it goes to the next page. It's annoying though.
With shops that are THIS FREAKING RIDICULOUSLY BIG, if you won't allow right-click buying, then give users a way to do shopping cart buying or something! I save up my trinkets as well, and I am NOT looking forward to spending them if this stays around. Like, seriously? All this dancing/clicking just to do MORE clicking for the buying? No thanks. :I
This was a TERRIBLE decision by site staff. We've had the shops coded this way in the past, and they were recoded to allow right clicking after everyone got pissed about it then. Why revert them instead of doing the logical thing and adding a simple timer like everyone else has suggested?
Plus, with this new code we can't click the back button to go back to the item we just bought either to finish out the sets we want to complete. We have to go through the whole shop no matter what to get back to the set of items we're trying to purchase. Really annoying for those of us trying to finish off older shops in particular, though it's pretty annoying even if you're only buying from this year's shop too.
Please fix this new issue ASAP. Initiating a "fix" that just causes a bigger problem for the entire user base is no fix at all.
I too thought this was an error.
I didn't have an issue with double-buying, I avoided the issue that others had by using the right-click method (or ctrl + click). I have never ever ever double bought anything that way. I have, however, double-bought items clicking normally in the shop -_-
Also - this makes buying take far more than 10x as long, seeing as how I have to load the purchase page, load the shop page again, then reload the year tab.
Honestly I did not even see anyone complaining about double-buys so I cannot imagine it was such a huge issue that it needed to disable right-click.
And if you plan to do that, then code it like the CS where we have a cart that we add too or something, because this is making the shop really a lot more trouble than its worth.
So rather than fix a bug, subeta wants to make its users more annoyed.
Sounds about right.
Basically I'm glad I already purchased all my stuff. With limitations like this in place it just means I will ONLY buy the beanbags, rather than bother about getting any thing else that I might need, but don't know for sure.
I did the same thing with the zombie den. And the problem is, I now have 1k trinkets & 600 trinkets just stting there for next year. Which means next year I wont have to participate. Which gives me less reason to log on for extended periods of time.
Subeta - this is not a good game plan. Wake up. Please. You are killing yourself. Slowly but surely you are tightening your own noose.

Posting again to say
for the love of everything please realize this. I have watched again and again over the last year as staff made changes to things and got rid of important, useful features supposedly for the better of the site, so that things would run better or bugs would be fixed, yet each change didn't work/broke things further or was just annoying in general. If this isn't changed by the end of this event then I hope I've made enough trinkets that I don't need to participate next year, 'cos this is annoying as hell.
Subeta, do you really think it's a good idea to bring this crap back after having people complaining about it in the past more than once?

I'm glad I bought most of the stuff I needed before this happened.
[edit]
Changing half my post since I saw Keith's response.
Opening in new tabs bypasses that, which I personally prefer. If I make an accidental purchase, it's going to be while wishlisting and stuff, and that's where the confirmation is nice. It lets me stop the purchase altogether. **
When I actually purchase things, I do it all in new tabs. It's fully intentional so I'm much less likely to make mistakes.
So maybe it's just me, but I find the confirmation messages way easier to deal with.
** Side note: If you wishlist something in the CS, it tries to buy the item. If you removed the confirmation messages there, I'd be wasting so much CSC on accidental purchases. I really like confirmation messages.
