This change is an absolute pain in the ass. I've been begging months for better usability and this is just a step backwards.
Buying loads became super inconvenient. And lounge tokens became a bigger pain in the ass now than before when you have below or in between the value of the big bags. 80 lounge trinkets? Good luck buying 40 items with every time a thank you screen after every trinket you buy. I hate struggling to be able to spend the trinkets I've earned. I already struggle enough to earn my trinkets, I don't want to struggle again to be able to spend them.
If this is a fix for another problem: then fix the bloody problem.

It was either this or a "are you sure" confirmation page after every purchase. 😔
Opening in new tabs bypasses that, which I personally prefer. If I make an accidental purchase, it's going to be while wishlisting and stuff, and that's where the confirmation is nice. It lets me stop the purchase altogether. **
When I actually purchase things, I do it all in new tabs. It's fully intentional so I'm much less likely to make mistakes.
So maybe it's just me, but I find the confirmation messages way easier to deal with.
** Side note: If you wishlist something in the CS, it tries to buy the item. If you removed the confirmation messages there, I'd be wasting so much CSC on accidental purchases. I really like confirmation messages.
I'm 100% with you, a confirmation page is a much better idea.
I don't really understand how right clicking and accidental buying are linked. I know when I haven't been paying attention I might have bought something twice but I have clicked on the item two times there was no accident other than my lapse in concentration and that's my fault not a fault with the way the site is set up.
this sounds rather annoying. I'm glad I've already gotten what I wanted from the menagerie, and I probably won't bother with anything else now with this change in place.
Am not happy about this at all :(
Fair enough if the double-clicking wasn't an issue, but it is. Seems unfair to stop users from protecting their purchases :/
VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS. WHY.
I'm so glad I already bought every wearable from Menagerie, if I'd waited until the end of the event like I originally planned, I'd be ripping my hair out right about now.
%100 in support of a confirmation warning that can be bypassed with opening a new tab.
(Also I literally sat down and bought everything by opening 100 new tabs, and there wasn't a single double-buy incident this year for me? Is this still really happening?)
I'm more likely to buy an item twice in error using this system.
When you can right click, can go along a line and just buy each item one after the other. When the page loads after each item bought I get confused about which I've already bought when I get back to the shop and end up buying duplicates or have to waste time buying checking which I've already bought.
It also takes a lot longer to buy this way which is annoying when there are so many items in the shop.
Wow this is hella dumb :L Please change it to a confirmation. Even if it were to pop up for a new tab, it's still way easier to just hit enter than to have to go back and scroll through the entire shop again and try to find your place
This change literally does not change the buying process for me at all.
As someone affected by the multiple item buy glitch, I am all in favor of anything to stop that from happening. Unlike you lucky lot who could go through the shop and right click to your hearts content, I have had to slowly methodically purchase items one at a time from event shops for years and even then I'd sometime end up with duplicates and triplicates. With the currencies in these shops limited, I had three options when that happened: try to sell the item and buy new trinkets/tokens to replace the ones used in error if possible, file a ticket, or just accept that I wouldn't be able to get another item I wanted because I had gotten multiples of an item I didn't need multiples of... It is incredibly annoying when it happens and it has, many times, pretty much taken away all my excitement for an event. (I still haven't touched the currencies from various single year event shops, like my EpiCON 2013 Points, because I've been so worried about this glitch. -completely serious here-)
This year, I haven't had any multiple purchases. I imagine it's been a combination of their fixes and my painstaking method of buying. Whatever the case, I am so incredibly happy that it's not happening though I don't think I'll ever be comfortable going into an event shop and just buying items without care.
When you get multiples through no real fault of your own and you can't-make-it-STOP!, it can be enough to make you cry/scream because all you want to do is to buy the items you want like a "normal" user and it just keeps happening. My heart goes out to those have continued to have issues and I'd happily go through more steps if that's what it would take to fix the problem.
Is the doubleclick buying thing because of a problem on Subeta's end or because of your browser/someting on the user end?
It's on Subeta's end, though it seems to be user specific for some reason.
I tried different browsers, different computers, different methods (regular left-click, right-click, CTRL + left-click, opening in a different window, opening in a different tab, selecting the button with the tab key and the enter key), turning off add-ons, removing add-ons, removing my custom CSS... (And no, I wasn't refreshing the pages. Ugh. I got asked that so many times.) Everything I could possibly think of and for a long time it didn't matter what I did.
After a while, I found it helped if I just purchased items from the shop and didn't update, refresh, or even really use any other pages. After I made a number of purchases, I'd close my browser completely, re-open it, update my WL, view the shop (which seemed to be the trigger for the erroneous purchases), wait to see if I got any duplicates or triplicates, then go back to the shop and try it again for the next set of items. This long, drawn-out multi-step method helped slow the amount of multiples I was getting but it didn't stop them completely.
This past year I've been able to leave out some of those steps, but I still close the browser after purchasing the items without updating anything, re-open the browser, and then check/update my WL and my inventory. And every single time I think "is this going to be the time that the duplicates and triplicates show up again?"...
Understandably, the whole idea that not being to use right-click is oh-so-awful kinda makes me want to bust out with a crazy-laugh.
That makes this "fix" so much worse to me. Rather than fix the actual issue, they've decided to inconvenience everyone else(the majority by far, I'm sure). Obviously, even with the "fix" you're still having to take a lot of extra precautions and make a much larger effort than you should have to be doing. An actual fix would be so much better for everyone.
I don't know if I have to take the extra precautions now, with this most recent fix. I haven't had the courage to try it without them just yet.
However, I am under the impression this fix helped others so... It probably has helped me, technically, but not emotionally. -is scarred- LOL And, like I said, I haven't gotten any multiples this year at all. Previous years I was, despite my best efforts.
[edit] 6 items purchased. Wild clicking all over the place (though no refreshing of the shop front page... just couldn't get myself to do it), including refreshing Apothecary multiple times while viewing the shop, and no multiples yet. So... That's definitely better. I might have a nervous breakdown doing it, but I'll try to continue to purchase items without the majority of the precautions and I'll be sure to report in if I get hit by the multiple item glitch again.
i don't like this. i'm on limited bandwidth internet and slow computer. even backspace will eventually refresh the shop again and consuming a lot of my limited data and worse, freeze up my screen.
can please fix it with least inconvenient solution? like timer as suggested throughout this board.
[edit]
what irritates me more is backspace bring me to 2015 shop, not the shop i currently was. also button to buy Red Ruffled Wrap is not working.
I am so glad I bought up the dozens of items I wanted before this. Why not just put a one or even two second timer in place if it's that big a deal?

Ughhhhhhh this is unbearable. Using new tabs to purchase is actually how I avoid accidently buying something I've already bought... I can just go through and ctrl+click a line of things into new tabs, then go unwishlist them all at once in my inventory, rinse and repeat. This is possibly the most aggravating thing Subeta has ever done. Want to spend your trinkets? Hope you have the patience of a saint!
Also, it's screwing with the regular show search page. If, say I needed 10 items for gifts, I could just ctrl+click the ten cheapest shops and ten new tabs would open in the background. Now it takes me off the shop search page and makes me look at every damn purchase confirmation page, and I have to manually click back to the tab with the shop search page. Unspeakably annoying.
What???!
How many more stupid changes is Subeta gonna implement??? ugh!!
I had the double-buy glitch once years ago. It ended up being something with my CustomCSS. Do you use CustomCSS? If so delete everything and see if that fixes your double buy glitch. I don't believe we could pinpoint exactly which bit was causing the double buying, but I just added code back one at a time and left off anything I didn't absolutely have to have. Maybe have someone good at coding look at yours.
I don't know where you could try to buy at and check since this shop was changed. Skitters maybe?
, would it be possible to take a look at someone's CustomCSS to test this? I know that is what caused my double buying in the past.

Removing my CSS was something I tried, multiple times if I am remembering it rightly. I tried so many different things. -points to first post on this topic- It'd be impossible for me to recall the exact details.
I'd be very very surprised if that turned out to be the problem after all this time. Fact is, I'd be absolutely floored.
[edit] I do recall it being that being the fix for some people actually. But it didn't seem to have any affect for me.
Sorry, must have skimmed that part! I read your post for your fixes and hadn't seen it mentioned.
If the error is just happening for certain users it would be something on your end either with your customcss or internet settings. If it was something like every user with 4 letters in there name then that would be Subeta's fault. I know my double purchasing was caused by customcss which took awhile to figure out but eventually we did.
You helped me with this way back in 2012. You were helping me with double purchases via a ticket and then sent me an smail when you found the solution. I no longer have the smail but do you happen to have super memory and remember what was causing this?
