Hi,
I think when you're buying CSC, if you're about to run a promotion a couple of days later there should be a warning, something like "Why not wait a few days, we have something really special planned!"
I spent £50+ earlier this week through paypal, but now : "For this weekend you will get a special item, and 20% extra Cash Shop Credits when purchasing with Paypal or Stripe!"
I've effectively missed out on the special item and the 20% extra when purchasing through Paypal, and the reward card changes. I would have definitely waited if I had any notification about it.
It has also actually put me off buying csc in future because in the back of my head I'll be remembering that I missed out on something nice by a few days due to lack of information so whats to stop that happening again...
They did announce exactly when the new card would come available. As soon as I knew I just waited to buy csc when the new card came out.
Yup they announced it on January 8th.
Cash Shop: Yukisumi + Reward Card Retirement Warning!
A stunning new themed item set has appeared in the Cash Shop. The current reward card will be retiring on January 23rd. A brand new card will debut that day, so fill up your current card while you can!
News post on January 8th said that we were getting a new rewards card on the 23rd.
I don't really know how much more of an announcement they should give for that. I thought the news post was completely reasonable.
EDIT: Beaten to it!
I just must have missed the announcement? But its quite hard to keep track of all news/announcements... It should be on the page where you are purchasing. I shouldn't need to search through the news just incase...Plus I had been away for a while so I definitely probably did miss that announcement.
I feel there is a way on that purchase page to more clearly inform people...particularly as people hand over real money.
There is no lack of information. You had the newspost, first of all.
Also, there is a thread in Subeta Discussion concerning retirements and the reward card is indeed mentioned.
But the news is where it is always posted? And there is always the option of reading back before purchasing. I mean if we want to compare it to real life, I don't know of any store that will say, "Hey hold of on buying that ipad...we are having a sale soon!"

I only have limited amount of time on here, I can't go looking at every news post, and there are probably other users who don't have lots of time to spare too :) Especially when the site is often very laggy... I'd much rather avoid doing that.
And actually in some stores, kind enough customer service people do that sometimes.
But this is the online world, it is going to be a different shopping experience..and this is the online world where you don't get any material goods with purchase, so you should be keeping people happy and showing you are trustworthy as much as possible.
I think my suggestion to make it clearer on the page...is a valid suggestion, information on a website like that should be easily available. On many e-commerce sites you'd have a banner at the top "Don't miss our Friday sale" or something like that.
Thats all I'm going to say on defending this simple suggestion :) If I'm going to spend real money on pixels...I would sure like a change like that to have visibility within the CSC shop. There is a yellow information box now it is available at the moment...its the same sort of thinking.
These sales are meant to be surprises, so that people don't postpones purchases.
Right now, Subeta already have the issue of people waiting for black friday for big purchases. They cannot afford to lose more purchases on days where there are not sales.
Obviously there is a time limit, but people did already know about it through the news as I'm hearing now :)... in fact I may have been enticed to spend more If I had known :) There isn't anything on Twitter. I tend to keep up with Subeta on twitter rather than the actual news page...mainly as a way of avoiding site lag.
One of the most important things about sales in ecommerce is actually building anticipation. Informing in the weeks before is a way of doing this. They would have to wait a few more days for my purchase...not months. This site does have a lot of problems with enticing people to buy..and enticing new traffic in general, I totally agree with you. But I don't think delays by a few days are a revenue issue. And informing people as much as you can about something is definitely going to build trust :)
The news was solely on the idea that card would be retiring and a new one would replace it. As mentioned by Sopheroo that there is also a thread to further reiterate how the card would change. Subeta does random sales like this to drive in new revenue. Subeta in general doesn't even post much for news so it is not like you really had to go through the archives. If you don't like the lag of the site, as you mentioned perhaps make a thread in suggestions that the twitter or facebook page of subeta make posts about CS Reward Card Retires. We are lucky that these cards are not monthly otherwise we'd spend far too much on some "pixels"
There was a newspost that forewarned players about the reward card changing.
Don't accuse the system when you should instead blame yourself for being ignorant.
We have an archive directory at the bottom of the news page, so there is literally no excuse for this thread to even exist.

It was actually a member of staff who suggested I create a thread for feedback...because that is what this forum is for, feedback. So yes this thread has a right to exist.
Lets stick to discussing my feedback rather than calling me ignorant, thats just rude. I'm not 'accusing' the system, I'm trying to suggest ways to make it better and improve the customer experience.
I admit I didn't see the site news. But I shouldn't need to check the site news whenever I decided to purchase. yes, part of the suggestion I should have mentioned that it would be useful to keep twitter more up to date with things. Especially as it means I could catch up on news when the site is down :)
I do think the date for the card change should be listed on the Reward Card page once it's been announced, but we really don't need a blaring sign that there's going to be a sale when we try to buy CSC (especially since these kind of sales are meant to be kind of a nice surprise, but that's actually not my point). It sucks if you miss out, but there's always next time. Shit happens.
My apologies. I have suggested before something that could be done to the news sidebar, as little reminders for when certain things are ending/changing/etc.: mock-up i made
However, if you know you've been gone a certain amount of time, it should become a habit to scroll down and go through however many news posts you've missed.
Subeta can only do so much. If you want to stay informed, it is up to the user to read the news. That's why it's there.

I understand kicking yourself when a better deal came along, but obviously the expenditure seemed worth it to you at the time, considering you spent the money. I've never gone into a store before, and had their employees warn me not to spend money now, because there will be a promotional opportunity later. (Though they will encourage me to come back next week when they're rolling out a new type of jean or when their shoes will be BOGO.) A lot of businesses run one-day sales, temporary bundles, etc. and I guess I just don't see that such incentivizing has somehow hurt you. You had an extra week to spend your CSC and extra time to use the actual items you purchased with it compared to someone who waited.
this is pretty much what I was going to say. you wanted csc, you got some csc, and it sucks that you missed out on getting more, but it's really not the site's responsibility to give you advance notice on sales.
If you want to be an informed user then yes you should read the news. News is there so that users can know of changes or new features. All I was stating is that for a site, the amount of news we have daily is not much to read. Again I urge you to then work on making a suggestion on how twitter needs to be more updated to reflect CS changes.
your decision to buy csc shouldn't be based on extras. extras are extras and not to be expected... if there where no extras when you bought csc and you bought csc then obviously you were happy just buying csc >.<
I wouldn't mind seeing a little blurb/ad on the cash shop front page that says, 'Sale staring the xth! woo!' haha, or something like that. It is in the news, so they're not trying to hide it and lots of stores often advertise upcoming sales on their websites, through emails ect. I don't see the harm in it tbh. I'm not debating who should buy what when or expectations ect, just saying from an objective standpoint it does seem to be a good suggestion and easily implemented.
