I feel like an oriental theme would be really cool for pets! There are a lot of possibilities for each pet and they could all be from different East Asian cultures like Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. What do you guys think?
I don't think in any way, shape or form that using the culture of several different ethnicities would be appropriate for Subeta.
the site is moving away from real life cultures and this would be a step backwards.

this topic should be pretty interesting though
Isn't "oriental" an offensive term? Or does that depend on the context?
Anyway, this is so vague that I can't even give a real opinion on it. Maybe some examples would help?

I don't support having pets wear clothes or using non-Subeta ideas... and I'm not even sure how this would work? Like... what exactly were you wanting to use from East Asian Cultures? And how would it be linked to Subetan Lore?
As sad, this suggestion is just too vague.
The whole Oriental term is very much antiquated and definitely not necessary to bring here onto Subeta. I think there are enough owners that do this to their pets anyway.
Also I'm not really into the idea of having these pets taking on an "Oriental" color. I'd really like to avoid that on Subeta. I really do enjoy when Subeta can embrace MORE of Asian cultures than just East Asia. For example, the different foods make me super happy ;3 I was so glad to get some lumpia into my Subeta life!
Also SPOILER;;; There's much more to Asia than the three countries (Japan, Korea, and China).
I think I think rather than calling this "oriental" I'd go with the term "eastern".
And I believe some examples might be: The Simurgh, Fu dogs, Kitsunes, and so on.
Personally, though, if I were to support this I'd love to see a "spirit" or "mythical" or "ancient" color suggestion that included ALL manner of lore creature and beastie from all parts of the world! And of course Cryptids, too!
Chupacabras, Mothmen, Dingoneks, Yeti, Manticores, Perytons, Werewolves, Ahools, Sphinx, and so on so on!
I'm struggling to think of how a culture can be translated into a pet colour if we have no examples provided.
Unless, the OP is referring to mythological creatures in folklore of Asia (Fu Dogs, Chinese dragons, Kappas, etc.), and is expressing interest in seeing a Subeta land that is equivalent or reminiscent to Asian culture. That could be an intriguing concept, but again, if it requires pets to wear clothing or becomes too similar to real-life cultures, then no.

Now THAT is a color I could get behind. Maybe a NPC in the Sacred Lands Souk could 'bless' pets and turn them into mythical creatures, based on creatures from all over the world. And all the different types could have a Subeta twist to it somehow... our artists are creative. :D
But yeah, still no to any clothes on them though.
Overlay? Overlay.

That is a real swell idea you have! I'd lurve me a Subetan Sasquatch~

Anyways, I really like the idea of blessing them into mythical creatures (it just sounds suiting, turning them into their more magical and untamed versions and such). Perhaps this blesser could be a god like being (like the Oracle, Shinwa, etc), either hiding in the Sacred Lands or like held captive at the otherwise useless SAI? Waiting for their chance to rise again one pet at a time mwaha! ...I mean it's worked for Merana right....
MANCHUSQUATCH OKAY. Most beautiful idea ever.
A lot of these sound like suggestions for new species, rather than a color.

"oriental" definitely won't be happening for reasons already mentioned above. I'm really liking the off-shoot suggestion for mystical pets though, I'm all about that sort of stuff irl.
I don't really see how this could be translated into a pet color though without them wearing clothes. I mean, they could drawn in eastern art styles, but idk I don't really see it being consistent enough if you wanna take influence from different cultures.
lol hopefully that made sense
I can't get behind the idea of oriental pets at all. However, a mythical type of color that was inspired by mythical creatures from all over the world would be much better. The kanis could be a jackalope or a wolpertinger for example.
[edit] Some pets would be more difficult to come up with a mythical counterpart for. For example, pretty much all the dragon-type pets (paralix, rreign, dragarth, etc.), since they're already mythical to begin with.
Well really it would be a color kinda akin to Nostalgic, I guess?
Like Nostalgic is a play on their core animal species vs. toys, and this sorta color would be a play on the core animal vs. "legendary mythical creatures and beasties" that're similar?
Like, some examples: Keeto = Kitsune Archan = Fu dogs/Chinese Guardian Lions Manchu = Yeti Neela = Peryton/Wendigo (Hannibal??) Legeica = Kelpie Feli = Nekomata/Beckoning Cat Ruffie = Black Shuck/Hound of Baskerville.
There's no way a slew of different animal myths could be a single species xD Plus when you consider how amazing our battle challengers are, that're always large powerful creations, I do imagine our artists could do a whole lot with an endless supply of magical and myth based beasties.
I do admit I'm 115% biased though as I have a vicious love for lore, creatures, and cryptozoology.
Please make this happen. Call it Weeaboo color and all the pets have to have their eyes closed! Such a great idea.
