I believe the term oriental is only offensive if you refer to people as oriental. Using it to describe objects is okay. I feel like pets would fall into this category, as they aren't really people. o-o

I didn't really want to touch this topic with a 10 foot pole but god with amazing suggestions no matter the topic

Personally, though, if I were to support this I&;d love to see a "spirit" or "mythical" or "ancient" color suggestion that included ALL manner of lore creature and beastie from all parts of the world! And of course Cryptids, too!

Chupacabras, Mothmen, Dingoneks, Yeti, Manticores, Perytons, Werewolves, Ahools, Sphinx, and so on so on!

I love this idea. Something that also popped into my head because of this topic was the idea of some kind of Kitsune pet, which is really more suited to an experiment imo. (Since we have so many canine-esk species already.) With it being an experiment the artists could really run with it.

Neela = Peryton/Wendigo (Hannibal??)

I mean, this whole mythical creature concept is really good, and this wiki list could be helpful more or less.

[edit] Whatever happened to the talk about a red panda experiment pet? I thought that was confirmed as next in the experiment lineup in the second-to-last Keith Answers. SOONâ„¢ I guess?

Yeah, I'd avoid the whole "Oriental" thing. But like others have suggested, "Mythological" would be an awesome color to have. We could incorporate a variety of myths including the eastern ones.

Really? No one's going to say it? Well okay then, I guess I will. This could reeeeeally easily turn into a weird game of cultural appropriation chicken. No one wants to see that (except maybe all the people sitting in here with popcorn and 3D glasses). I'm gonna say this idea is ill-advised.

's idea sounds awesome, though. Antlephore/Neela could become Yggdrasil deer or Kirins. Hikei/Legeica can become pegasuscorns or waterhorses. Birds like the Lain/Mallarchy/Fester can become harpies, thunderbirds, tengus or phoenixes. Feline pets can become chimeras, sphynxes, manticores or fu dogs. Keeto/Jollin can fulfill demand for the much-requested kitsune. There are sooo many options. Various critters from different cultures can even be fused together, or combined with elements or objects to keep things interesting. Mad props, please go make a thread so we can all hyperventilate in there. I promise you're not the only one here fascinated by world mythology

Or something akin to the Forest Spirit from Princess Mononoke. :O

...guys, we need to make a new suggestion thread for this.

SPOILER (click to toggle) I'm pleasantly surprised this did not erupt into a shitty dramafest. It's like we're mature adults now. D:
