Can't say I really like the shading on this one. It just looks like too much and it isn't blended well. It takes away from the face of the creature, which is supposed to be the main focus. I also think that the ears now compete with the tails in a merger... especially the left (our right) one. But I still voted for the new one because it does have improvement over the older one.

The ear on the left looks too long. Like, if you uncurled both ears it'd be longer than the one on the right.

It also does look a little over shaded. It's beautiful shading, but there's just too much.

and I like it's new "chubby" figure. And thank you, because now the pet no longer looks like it's falling or just drifting around in space.

I'm voting for the old, in hopes that the artist will fix the shading a bit.

Hmm. Well, I do like the shading a little bit more on this one because I see the Kora as a slick creature. But it's eyes look a little too evil for me. The other one looked more innocent. =3 I think it's because the lines leading down to the jewel are too close to the eyes. Maybe move the jewel up a little bit and widen the light pink in the eyes so they are more circular. The back leg, it's back left and our right, is a bit too long. Otherwise I think it's okay. =3 Just needs a little bit of work.

I think removing it's back right leg, like the old one would make it look better.

Hmmm, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I think the new face and eyes are fantastic shading wise, but the body looks fat and the shading doesn't really blend...looks weird like map cartography or something and the ears...something about the old ones was better...I think the shading or shape or something is missing in the new ones...they seem more round a fat or something like rope. I really like how the face wasn't messed with like some other ones.

People get on my last damn nerve always hollering about a pet looking fat. I guess you artists need to draw every pet looking anorexic because these people are going to gripe no matter what you do. I like it and I voted new.
Damn this youth driven looks are all important society.

I don't like how it looks more potbellied, and the tail and ear pieces lost their flowing form, instead of looking more like ribbons or veil pieces blowing in the wind, they look... I don't know, too solid and stiff. It sort of lost it's carefree look to it, like it could just run with the wind. It looks more like clumsy romping like a puppy instead of flowing it had. shrug It is cute, but I like the old one's personality more.

I voted for the old one because it's so adorable. I like the new one too, but I agree that it looks too fat and the shading is a bit too pronounced. The tails also seem unnatural; it seems, from this perspective, that the tips of the tails should be falling into the background, not overlapping the other tails.

Oh, I was waiting for the revamp of my fav type of pet =)
I kinda like the new one, but I think it looks fat, but more realistic than the old one. And... don't you think that the shading needs to be a slightly softer?

Either it's the shading or the space between lines (I'm leaning towards shading) but it looks way too chubby. Give it a neck and move the lines together, and it should look better.

The tail looks a little funky though. Compared to the last one, I don't know... It looks like it's coming from the leg or something :/

I voted for the new one, just because it syncs better with the rest of the art on the site.

I kind of like the chubbyness, but something about the legs seems off. I think the forelegs are a little too short, personally. Unless it's supposed to be bipedal, but I never got that impression.

Also, I still think it's a little shiny. It looks less seal-like and more plastic. Less harsh shading and more diffuse highlights would make it look more like wet velvety fur, like on a seal.

Overall, though, I am pleased with this revamp. Just needs a liiiittle more tweaking.

I have to agree with comments on the fact that it looks kinda... pudgy. and way too shiny. Like someone said, it looks like an over-filled water balloon.
Also, I liked the ribbon-like look of the tentacles on the old Kora. The new ones look good, but I'd like to see them end a little less... thick? It seems like they are thicker at the ends than in the middle, and it makes it look weird.
Otherwise, I do like the way that its eyes look, and how its posed...

OH-- I just noticed why it looks so pudgy/water balloony/'fat'... it looks like its lacking a neck! It looks as if its head is sitting smack on the shoulders, with no neck to speak of! If the neck were more pronounced, I think that would take away a lot of the 'pudginess'.

Otherwise, it looks pretty cool.

I dunno, I quite like this new one. I don't honestly think it looks all that shiny at all! The tails and the ears look lovely, and the eyes are what I like best.

Seriously, though. I know my anatomy, and all I think that could look a little bit less chubby would be the left hind leg- maybe a bit more definition of a knee would fix it up nicely. I'd agree that the neck could look more present here, but other than that, kudos to the artist! c: I know there's calls to make it less balloony, but it looks fine in this pose and style. I think the apparently 'shiny' tails and ears look great; there's realism, and then there's people criticizing it a little bit too much- I do like a more cartoony pet!

So I vote yes for this. c: Good job!

I guess I'm just going to be adding to the 'chubby' and 'plastic' comments. My only other thing is the jewel being much lower looks like it is mad at me. ;-; But the art and pose are lovely, can't wait to see a new and updated kora. =D

The top half of it is wonderful, but the bottom half is rather... stubby. If the body's gonna be that chubby, the legs need to be a bit longer, or something.

Otherwise, the new version looks nice. The first revamp in a while that I dont hate.

first thoughts:
'yeesh, inflation much?'

the body is very stubby, it looks like a balloon animal.
and while its a bit better than the old version, it's a tad bit too creepy for my tastes.
i think the shading needs to be toned down so it doesn't look plastic, and make it look more lithe.

I like the eyes and the post of the old. But I like the body shading of the new. I voted for the old though. So if you can incorporate the pose and eyes of the old with the new shading it'll look great.

i like how it still reminds to the old one very much, it's the same pose and such. but i also have to admit that i'm not too hyper about the outcome, i also find it too shiny, looks like a bag filled with water to me. and the head is weird indeed. the left side seems to be larger than the other, when i look at the top edge of the eyes...maybe im picky o_Â° maybe the "no neck" problem could be solved if you pull the head away from the back a little more, to the left side of the picture...you know what i mean? xD oh and i love the shading of the ears.

Of the new version I like the body and the eyes better, however the shape of the "tentacles" is nicer on the old one.

KORA ARTIST SPEAKS: xD The kora is actually a psychic-water type creature. Think Mew crossed with Vaporeon. It's supposed to be all floaty in this pose, and I actually never pictured the kora having fur at all -or rather, not long fur. Maybe they kind you get on like...a seal? Real short fur. I have a habit of making my pets chubby, but that can be fixed, as can the shading (I'll dull it down and remove some of the more detailed parts) I'll also try and thin out the appendages a bit. Anything else?

The kora was the first subeta pet I ever saw when I came to this site and i was so impressed with the design. I can see why it needed an update and overall I like the new one. I like that there is now a suggestion of a neck, unlike the old one. The only suggestion I would make is to taper the the ears and tails narrower toward the end like the old one. Other than that I still think the kora is great pet. Nice job artist!

That's true. As I've seen in some other polls, a lot of people who have problems with the new verison still vote for the new one. I think if they want somethings to be changed, they should vote for the old one. Oh well, I'll sitck to my old comments and say this, the artists are very VERY talented at what they do, I just think they're room for improvment.

It does look more detailed and so.. really great work, but also kind of .. plump..
So I prefer the old one.. looks leaner.. more agile..

I do not like this revamp.

As many others have pointed out, this new version looks like it put on about 20 extra pounds and buffed itself till it was squeaky clean. All the crazy highlights make it look like a plastic toy, not like a furry slinky animal. Why must everything around here have to have impossibly crazy shinyness? It just doesn't work.

I also don't like how the tail and ears are all meddled together. They really make the image confusing to look at, and again, they all seem to thick and heavy for the kora to even lift.

HighlandLass- I've never pictured them as being even remotely alien. The Kora-related item descriptions (Kora Magic Powder, Kora Orb of Foresight, Kora Gem of Power) described the species as having magical and psychic powers, so I tended to imagine them floating around magically or telekinetically. I've never seen anything hinting that they were alien...though that's not to say aliens can't be magical or psychic. XD I just see them as wierd little cat-things.
