I voted for the new one. I like it slightly better than the old one but it could use a little more revamping. Something about the stucture of the body that I am not fond of. Overall though I think it is a good revamp.

I like the old one better o.o
I don't think it's that fat (I don't see that? it's just its hind paw), but the overall look is sorta off. The tentacle things...ew
I loved the simplicity of the old Kora, and though perhaps the art needs updating, it's best to leave some things alone.

I have to say I like the one Calvin posted.
This one seems to be a lot less lively, and quite pudgy.
It needs more expression, and please, perk up the ears a little bit. :3

The new one is very adorable. I don't see why so many people don't like it. It looks like they took a similar pose to that of the original and made it better. As for it looking "pudgy," "fat," or "chubby," it, does, but in a good way. It's not "fat," it's "Poofy!"

Oh my god! The ears are way too droopy and longer at the ends than they need to be. I wish it could look more like the version of the kora that subeta was going to use for the t-shirts that were never made.

As long as they don't change the angelic kora then I'm fine.

Ithink the old one looks alot more cute, the new one is fat, and dosn't look as playful. And the tails on the new one are a bit thick. I'm glad too see that alot more people are voting to keep the old, new isn't always better!

Aside from the very bizarre coloring, I like it.

I must say, the artists are very good at doing re-draws but I think they could just improve the old one instead. Just because it's a re-vamp doesn't mean you have to go all out and make a brand new pet, you could just change the legs on the current Kora, that's all that really needs re-vamping to tell you the truth. This one's eyes are glowing like it's going to take over someone's mind and I kind of miss the fluffiness of it all. Also, to comment on the fact that some people are upset about what others are saying about the chubbiness, over weight is a health concern. It's not the best thing on a pet.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I really like this design, but I voted for the old one because it looks fluffier and more sort of friendly?

I like the way it looks chubby, and the rounded tentacles look great, also the pose is win. <3

I agree with scarlet that the shading is very unnatural on this version... It's like, 'shiny kora!' 0.o
Also, the tail and ears are very tenticle-like, it's rather creepy... The old Kora is cute and playful, and this one is unwelcoming and... shiny. I don't think it's too 'fat', though, I just think that the Kora's hind legs are awkwardly drawn. They do not look natural. Also, much like the Ruffie, the Kora is more of a chibi-style pet, and this version is a far throw from that style. I don't think that there should be too much of a change in the STYLE of the Kora, the previous version holds up well in that department, it's just the shading that needs to be updated to match the look of the other pets. The ONLY thing wrong with the old Kora is that it looks flat.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I like the new one, although it's a bit fat and the ears look a bit like tentacles. It's still much better than the old one. ^^

It doesn't look pudgy to me. I like it a lot, really... The only thing is that it doesn't seem as furry as the old version, and its eyes are kind of unfriendly looking. Maybe softening them up with different shading would be nice.

I really don't like it. It looks ceramic, not furry, and almost like a really fat, rather angry lapdog. Also, the ears now look like tentacles rather than gently tapering... ears that folded at the ends. On the same vein- the tails and the right ear are so similar in pose that it has the twinning effect. Makes the artist seems lost for what to do with them. :/

I love the pose of this revamp - much preferred it to the previous revamp's static pose. I'm not quite sure yet about the roundness of the 'tentacles' yet, but overall a beautiful, well though out revamp. I'm actually amazed how you can keep the character of the old one with the pose, yet please those that want a more universal pet so they can choose the characteristics better. Very well done! XD

True, very true. Though perhaps people don't fancy the idea of a grossly overweight pet in real life (health issues and such), so wouldn't like one similar to a pet in real life portrayed as such. Though I agree there's no need for concern here, the revamped kora is at a perfectly wonderful weight. =)

The body is a little chubby and stocky compared to the old one... The tail(s...?) don't seem to be, er, connectes to the body...? It appears to have no neck, and the eye shading is a bit too shiny... Isn't the Kora supposed to be furry???? Where's the fur? I also think the Kora itself seserves a bit more character in its pose. The old one allowed it to be uniquely defined as cute and inoocent. I also suggest longer, and slender legs and a smaller tummy =)

It looks a bit fat. lol. I would suggest toning the shading down a bit and not make the shaded parts so round. That's what is causing the fatness.

The face is lovely, the tail is fine, I'm dissatisfied with the ears and limbs. I would suggest retaining a trace of neck, adding a hint of fluffy fur to the elbows and knees, making the limbs a bit more slender and graceful and tucking in a little bit of the belly to keep it fit looking but not emaciated.

I think personally that the new one looks a bit too chubby and shiny. It looks like plastic or glass, not like a furry animal at all. And as Dessa said, it lost some of that cute innocence that made the Kora so endearing.

So I voted for the old one. ^^;

The first thing I thought when I saw the Kora was - "this Kora has been working out!" The shading makes it look like its covered in muscles. Shiny little muscles.
I guess I'm supposed to vote for the old one, then...even though I definitely think the old one was more than ready for a revamp. I hope they continue to tweak this one, though.

I'm still a fan of the previous Kora revamp. I quite like this one, but I think I like the current Kora's tail more. How it's not as, uh.. Thick all over?

And perhaps smaller eyes? Idk, something. 8D;;

I had to vote old. The extra poundage just doesn't suit it and I find the tail overwrought. You know, I really loved the previous Kora revamp, the one that got voted down. It would be interesting to have a poll between that revamp and this one to see which people prefer. The site has grown considerably since then and the majority opinion may have changed drastically.

Let's see if i can post a pic of it here:

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I voted for the old Kora, this one looks a bit pudgy and like it wouldn't be one you would actually play with if it were a real pet. The old had this cute playful look about it. I like the pose in this one just not the shading and look of its face. Plus fuzzy please. ;]

Since the bloated figure and plastic shading have already been addressed... I agree with Dessa's additions. The revamp has an entirely different character, with more coldness and even malice muscling its way in place of the cute, soft, sprite-like, light-on-its-feet charm of the original. Part of that might be how high the head is placed; a LOT of chest is visible, which makes it look more like it's just standing still but kicking up its back legs, rather than floating in the air or pouncing about. The ears and tail also look much more rigid than the old. Each 'tentacle' is thick, rounded at the tip, and identical in curvature to all the others; there's not enough sleekness or variety to make them look independent and fluid. And the very sharp, angular eyes also add to the harsh coldness. Also, Rah pointed out herself that the Kora might have short, seal-like fur, but the revamp looks completely bald. In addition to toned-down shading, just a couple points of fur at the elbow and knee, as the original has, could fix that (as well as making the pet look less rotund and balloonish).

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Issai

I like the new look overall, but I voted for the old for two reasons:

  • the shading gives the new one a "shiny" look that makes it look rather like a sculpture of a Kora rather than a Kora

  • the face on the new one has lost a god bit of charm. The old one looks kind of curious/playful whereas the new one is blank/angry.
December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The lack of appearance of fur makes it appear to be a hairless Kora. it seems really weird. also, the darker shading on the light blue fur is too dark, which adds to the "hairless" appearance. the tentacle look of the tails and ears really don't appeal, makes it a little creepier. plus, the ears really don't match each other.

I voted old.

The anatomy is better, the art is better, the shading is better, the line art is better, it finaly looks like it could actualy function as a creature unlike the last one whick lacked its neck and the front half of its body 8D! My vote is new kora is epic win c:

The Kora was the first pet I made here. Shortly after I joined, the hydrus one was released, and it became my first goal pets Sindar. I have 3 of them, and they are really all new style. The redraw follows the style of the hydrus (face), galactic and specturm (face, tail, ears). I have a graveyard too... love him as is; but he doesn't look like any of the others. Also, all the newer Kora colors have 'tummies', but I think the intense shading makes this one look more round. Please add the 'fur' back to the elbows (as it's prominent on the special colors). Overall, it seems a pretty reasonable redraw, with only a few tweaks needed. Make the front legs a smidge thinner, blend the shading, and I think most of the issues would be addressed. And cut in/round out the base of the tail maybe for this pose? Hopefully this means my friend who's been longing for glacier, nuclear or nightmare in this species will get her wish soon??? And I have to agree with Just_Call_Me_Tracy comments :Damn this youth driven looks are all important society.
Can't even have a freakin' fat virtual pet!

BTW, when I went and voted the poll was still VERY close compared to the others I've voted in.

My vote will always go to the old Kora.

Now, if it had the same pose and little tufts of fur on its legs, and looked less... plastic-like, then it might be fine. Basically, maybe update the old one slightly, but this one... I'm not very fond of it. At all.

The eyes also seem a bit unnatural... and it's pudgier.

I'm not saying it's a huge and awful thing, but I still don't like it. I don't want my Spiri to change if she's gonna look like this... the old version is cuter and more innocent.

I'm not such a fan of this recamp. It looks like it has too much muscles, or fake. I would say, tone down on the shading contrast and make it more subtle, though that is one of the only complaints

Nothing wrong with a little pudge, I say. ;D

This version is leagues ahead of the old one, and has seriously made me rethink about owning one of these pets. ♥! The only two things I would critique on is the lack of fluff on the legs. I know it's meant to have really fine fur, but just a little fur would make it look so that it's not completely hairless.

I don't mind the lack of fluff as much as the tail though. The way it's shaped bothers me a little, as it looks like a flat appendage (like a beaver's tail) that suddenly split apart, instead of four individual tails. That was the impression I got from the shading on the old one. Also, that last tail goes too far down the kora's rear, I think.

I made some slight modifications, and I really hope you don't mind, Rah. ^^;

Still, the more I look at the revamp the more I want one. I love how the kora finally has a shape to it! And not just a 2d image. The shading is incredibly well done, and really makes it pop up at the viewer. Also, the pose is great too, it looks like it's just touching the ground after floating in the air, like it's landing or something.

I like the new one, but the shading needs a redo, and it seems a bit plus-size. :B

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by ChaosRocket

The shading is so sharp that at first glance it looked like it had these huge, bulging muscles...or like someone else said, maybe a balloon animal. I don't understand the trend for all the redraws to have this really sharp shading, it looks weird and unrealistic.

Why does the new one ALWAYS win the poll? It makes me think they're rigged or something because I don't see how it's possible for the new one to win every single time, no matter how many people are complaining about it.

Body is great, I love the crisp, clear shading. The face however, is simply bad. It looks nothing like a kora, it looks like an emotionless alien. Tweak the face to be cuter and more kora-ish, please.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by krazysuperkam
User Avatar

Ears and tail both look too long. And with the shading done on the pet's body, it now looks like a balloon those clowns make for children at amusement parks.

Tone down the shading, cut down the fat, slim down the tails and ears please.

The pose is definitely not bad. But nothing special. The old one looks like it was in mid leap or was crouching down and I think that's cuter.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I second centurymon and blueriver .... If you make the differences between the shade colors a bit less (it is way too obvious and cartoony, sorry) and thin the hind legs a bit and shorten the tails and ears back to the original length, then this would be a better version of the first. However, with out those changes, I am not endeared to the new one and would rather see the old one stay. Of course, if I were given voice about what it needs over all no matter the version then I would say that it lacks personality and needs more expression on its face. The last one looks dumbfounded and this one looks like you just told it to take a flying leap. Well, perhaps if you gave the poor thing some pupils so it can see ... that poor pet has been blind for years ....
