I looked at Stripe's documentation, and saw this:
So, Keith and Subeta could not use Stripe to accept PayPal payments right now because Subeta and Keith are in the US. It's unfortunate for sure.
I too prefer to use PayPal over Stripe, because of not needing to use a credit card that way, it's just better for the customer. But apparently it's also much worse for the site, which is what the site and Keith has to take into account most of all.
Yeah, what I meant is, that I might be able to route my paypal payments through stripe. However, every page I open will always talk about business accounts and not private customers. Plus they seem to charge fees for every transaction.
also 100% on this below. I know y'all are skeleton crew for like a decade now, but not really updating anyone on the main source of income most users would be trying to give you money with, that starts to really sound like an excuse over an explanation... : it's extremely frustrating, is what I'm saying.

Thank you for the update. I know all too well the trouble these kinds of devil webs cause. Where is a "mortified" emote when I need one. It feels like the customers are all muted, and when the company does answer their like "what issue?" It's totally intentional. It's meant to shut people up and make them comply, if they expect to keep using the system. I own a business myself, and I stopped using PayPal for anything other than a go-between for making purchases online. I am grateful there are other options out there.
keep us posted, so we know whats up, and so we get come closure to this payment method going the way of all the earth.
Yeah, Payments is a particularly difficult part of the internet because it's a place where international banking and regulations really kicks in. There aren't a ton of other places (cookies, terms and conditions, etc) that require the level of cross border collaboration that payments do. When we started Subeta, you needed a separate payment processor for each country.
And it's particularly frustrating because we were one of the first customers of the Paypal API. Subeta was one of the first websites to implement the "instant" payment system (I don't know if anyone here remembers the FIRST cash shop - where Amber and I would go through the daily payments and hand them out individually to accounts. That's how internet payments worked...... 17 years ago omg i'm old now 💀)

The link to buy CSC in the official cash shop page was the "roundabout" way??? xD
Sorry for the confusion there, guys. What I meant is that you have to go to the Cash Shop items page and then click the CSC link from there, versus the "direct" route which is just to click the "Buy CSC" link under the "Cash Shop" tab up there at the top.
Oh! I don't think I've ever opened the cash shop tab at the top. And that is on me, because I remember those tabs being added years and immediately added my sidebar back for most links so I could ignore the menus at the top. I thought clicking the CSC count was intended to be the main way to access the cash shop. That's pretty funny. Thank you for the clarification, .
This is the problem: I don't think I will ever use stripe because I do not own a creditcard, neither do I plan on owning one. I do not like the system of creditcards. Basically you make a loan each time you use one and I don't like it. Every site I use accepts paypal as a payment option, only Subeta is the exception. I understand Keith completely but I've still got to mention it. I would love to be able to continue to support Subeta but it looks like I can't do anything other than using paypal as a monthly subscription method.

Then how do you pay with PayPal? You need to have some method of payment on the other end. Are you doing bank drafts? We can work to support the same method, without it being PayPal doing the processing on the other end.

I connect it to my bank account, basically paypal withdraws money from my bank account each time. I hope this is what you meant as well (sorry english is not my first language it's a bit difficult for me to understand you xD). If this would be possible without using paypal that's awesome! I'm from Germany by the way :D

PayPal lets me use either my debit card or connect directly to my bank here in the USA, no credit card required. I just tried Stripe again and it does accept my USA debit card and my USA bank account, but it specifies USA bank accounts only. :(
I don't it changes the current situation, but maybe it's worth noting on the cash shop pages that you can use either debit or credit with Stripe in countries where it works. Or just say "card info" instead of "credit card info."
I cannot fathom there isn't another way to accept money from other countries, so many people do e-commerce these days, does everyone just accept the larger middleman cut? But I understand the nature of corporate monopolies mean if one service works for most people, that company has an incentive to prevent other competitors popping up...

This is the way I do it, bank direct. I only link my debit card to things when there's no other option. I think it's the ONLY reason my Subscription still works. So there's some backup for that concept if that's helpful? I have run into a LOT of the same issues and I am on the west coast. I ended up having to link my debit for payment to get CSC in the new site setup. The Paypal would not work at all.
We are the ones who remember, the ones who see what was, and is, and will be.
Me~
Cant buy csc either .-. i have a credit card ,i cant do paypal idk why ,im in Italy and stripe isnt work for me today -.-
As a Brit I’m just glad I can pay via apple pay. As I used to pay via PayPal.
Just chiming in to add I also have paypal as my only international payment method because of my lack of credit card (and my not wanting to own one either). I also linked paypal to my bank account (originally I didn't have them linked and manually put money in my paypal wallet whenever I had to make a payment with it, but when I went to subscribe to subeta I had to link it to my bank account to get it to accept the payment method). If you could find another method to make international bank transfers possible without needing paypal that would be great, but if credit cards end up being the only option I would have to unsubscribe unfortunately :/
HELLOOOOO everyone. Sorry for the lack of updates on this, we've been making movements on the backend!
After (finally) speaking to our rep on the Paypal side, I think I've got a path forward for us. We've been recommended a method, and I'm going to take the next few days to attempt to implement it on kumos.subeta.net as an option for purchasing CSC along side the Stripe method.
If that goes well, we'll be able to transition all of our cash shop purchasing (including subscriptions!) over to kumos.subeta.net with either stripe OR paypal as a payment option.
Thank you for your patience, it's been a very very very annoying road, and we might have an end to it soon! Thank you for wanting to support us 💖 💖

This sounds brill! Keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you!
