Is the cut from PayPal so severe it's not worth trying to get it fixed and get the income back? The 5$ option takes what, 2$?
Im honestly beginning to think they dont care if paypal is working, I mean its going on what 5 months now?
I hope it's clear that we aren't ignoring the issue, you not being able to spend money means that we don't get your money. That's a lose/lose. I apologize for being quiet, there just hasn't been anything to report other than "waiting for someone to email me back". I'll keep the thread updated more often, especially if there is any movement or forcing toward their newer tool, that I'm not a fan of. If you can buy CSC with any other method than paypal, I'd recommend doing that for now.
We, right now, process those payments through a third party processor called Braintree. Not to get too into Silicon Valley Politics, but that company was bought at eBay when they owned paypal, it was spun off when Paypal was, and then purchased by Paypal and then it was... absorbed? by Paypal, and now it looks like it's probably going to be discontinued in favor of their PayPal Checkout product, which takes paypal as a first tier payment and lets you give them your credit card information.
I don't like that option. I would like PayPal to be a single option, the same as Apple Pay or credit card, not needing to give them (a very shady company) your details to pay with credit card.
Unfortunately, they make that really difficult. Braintree sends information in a way that adheres to standards that Stripe (and most other payment processors) also follow.
There is still the Paypal integration in braintree, that allegedly works, for now. Except it clearly doesn't. I've been waiting on a response from our rep there, and will reach out again, and hope we can get it turned back on. I'm still not super comfortable with paypal checkout as an option - but if it becomes the only option i'll let y'all know the amount of time I think it'd take to implement it, and the warnings / precautions I'd like to have in place.

Idk of this is related to this issue, but i got the email from PayPal that i got charged for my subscription as usual on the 24th, and yet it didn't get reactivated for another month here, so now it expired and i no longer have gold account privileges etc. Is this bc of this paypal thing or bc you didnt update the bonus item yet?
I also had the same issue being charged yesterday and I no longer have a gold account either- I’m in the U.K and been doing it this way for years- and this has never happened before!
I was also charged on the 24th and my subscription wasn't reactivated as well. Hoping this won't be a huge issue for even more folks.

From a user standpoint it seems like if PayPal is someone's only option and they chose to use it knowing the risks, can't that be a viable option? Especially if the downside is not spending anything on Subeta at all?

I totally agree with everything in this post.
Also I don't get it entirely. I use paypal a lot, also on US sites. I have never been asked for my credit card details. Maybe it's something US specific?
I agree, that in Europe paypal has been the new and safe money transaction option instead of very expensive cards for maaaany years. For the tiniest and also huge expenses. They are very consumer friendly and reliable, always send purchase information. Every online shop accepts paypal payments nowadays.

I'm unable to understand, how it can be, that subscriptions work like a charm (knock on wood) but direct payments don't. Also, as said before, why does Subeta not just simply open a new paypal account and start from scratch?
I'd honestly prefer that tab to buy CSC be removed at this point
Seven months since this thread was started (the issue started a while before that). Three months since last feedback. Blame it all on Paypal.
Yeah I'm sure there's other things in life that are easier to solve and more pressing but I can't help feeling it's just "Ok, we'll wait" when you really have to press and push against PayPal to get them to do anything.
but it's not looking like a concern, so , I can keep hoping someone can trade me!

Would you let me know where to find that option, ? On new new Subeta I see only Credit Card or US bank account (it says powered by Stripe but no other options). On this site, well, Paypal.
