I can see why the cats don't like being picked up and held like a baby (one neighbour always holds her cats like that, and they really don't look happy!) ;) Oddly enough, cats have never liked me stroking them, even when other people had stroked them either just before or just after - it was always me who ended up with scratches o.O

I guess it's also a lot of thinking involved, rather than just the energy in using them in the first place - especially if you're trying to navigate your way around a pretty tight space. :K that's a shame with it being too narrow, especially as it's not really the kind of space you can measure easily either! :( I had seen one that was adjustable before, but I know that not all of them are unfortunately.

In case you couldn't tell I am not happy they treated you this poorly. :grumbles: I hope things get easier for you too! :)

It is usually easy to tell when they are not happy. lol They will give you those looks that can kill. Not sure why you always end up with scratches. Some cats can be particular about how they like to be scratched or petted too. And they all have their own likes and dislikes. Usually they like being scratched and petted around their head and neck area. Pusur can get annoyed if I get close to his behind. :P

there's one cat that always gives me that kind of look when I'm trying to distract him from bird watching in our garden (we had a nest in there a couple of years ago, and I didn't want the cat to get too comfy) 😇

hehe I can't blame him! :P I always used to do the back or side of their necks & slightly down their backs (trying to keep away from their teeth :P) but it never seemed to work.... I guess they realised I wasn't really a cat person! ;)

I've gotten soem of it perfected though and seem to be going around easier today. So lol there's that :D. OH well, I have seemed to figure a good way to get in there without hurting myself so that's a plus too. Cute HA today :D Blade is approving.

That is good to hear. :) Sometimes we just need to vent and grumble for a bit before getting on with things.

Cats will try to kill smaller birds, so it is not a bad idea to try and keep them away. ;) They are amazing hunters.

Cats also don't usually like it when you touch their belly, yes cats can be very particular and weird. :P I have had cats for so many years now, you learn to read them better. I was a bit clueless with these things in the beginning. :P

indeed. I don’t like being accused ofthings I haven’t done so that was hard to let go as well. But i am making an effort to not let things I can’t change bother me

Admittedly it's quite interesting watching the cats trying to catch flies in the garden - surprisingly enough none of them have managed it yet :P And I can imagine there weren't many books before you had your first cat, that would explain cat behaviours like that? ;)

Hehe.. it is fun to see them hunt, even if it is just a fly. It is pretty impressive how fast they can be. I never did read any books, I kinda learned as I went along. :P

I think the cats round here that love chasing flies are still quite young - they look like they're stalking & hunting anything and everything (even other cats) but never seem to quite know what to do when they're almost next to whatever they're prowling up on :P I think we had a couple of books for the budgies, but honestly they weren't much use laughs Learning as you go definitely makes more sense ;)

They are just practicing their hunting skills I guess. since they are probably fed by their humans. :D It is fun to see kittens play. I don't like that cats will kill a lot of small birds, but it is hard to avoid if you let them outside. These days we have the internet too if we have question. We didn't when we had budgies. :)

That's very true - a few years ago one of the local cats caught a pigeon, and brought it back to its house to presumably show off to its owner (they had a cat flap so the cat could bring whatever it caught into the house). The pigeon was still alive at the time, and we saw the pigeon an hour or so later, looking a bit ruffled but otherwise fine, sitting in the bird bath in our garden :P I always wonder what the cat's owner thought when they saw this pigeon being brought into their house 😇

Yeah, a lot of the books we had for budgies are not only out of date (I was surprised with how much budgie care recommendations has changed over the years) but also the information's actually easier to find online now :P

I can imagine that cat was very pleased with itself. :P Bandit, one of my old cats, brought in a dead mouse one, so I had to brave picking it up. Yuck!

It is the same with cats, and the so called experts are not always agreeing on what is best for them either when it comes ot their care. :P
