I wish I could say that our terrible days were behind us but that's really not the case. My foot's been hurting, which I suppose isn't totally surprising given that I needed to help move furniture last night, but we got a call at 2 that mum is in fact coming home today. So mum called us at 4.45 saying they were ready... I put dinner on and sat down because oh yeah puppy escaped earlier and I had to help move more furniture making my foot scream... Dad left at 5 and we had thought it'd be about an hour. 6.30pm Melody woke. I had no choice but to go get her. My foot is throbbing and I'm in so much pain but I can't go get water to take my pain meds. So 7 comes and Melody needs the loo but I can't take her and my foot is KILLING me in the air cast boot and I can't find a comfortable position to sit on the floor with. I wound up laying on the floor in the fetal position in near tears with my cast resting on top of the other foot--it was hella uncomfortable but the best I had. Mum and dad finally show up at 7.45. Only for mum to miss the step and fall again. We had to call EMS to come and help her stand up. Mum makes dad go to walgreens to get her rx and I stay outside waiting for them in my stupid cast while my foot is on fire. The ems had to basically make a body sling and sling mum into a chair so they could then help her stand upright. At that point I went and pulled melody on her led to the sofa so she wouldn't hit mum's surgical arm. Melody was so hard to restrain that it took all my efforts to keep her there and she hit my bad foot--the EMS guy had to come and help restrain her because her lead was wrapped around my arm so tight that I was turning purple and he was greatly alarmed.

Finally I had no choice but to put her in the scrapbook room, led still attached and hobble in great pain to my recliner. It was almost 9 before I got my pain meds and we got to eat dinner. I know I am hurting my own recovery and it kills me but there was no one else to help. Mum says she's okay and they did check her eyes so we don't really see any warning signs of a concusson. otherwise she said she didn't hurt. I guess we'll see tomorrow. I am beyond done. I'm worried I'm in too much pain and may need to contact my doctor.

I haven't heard any Enya music for years (I have a feeling that was me RE teacher's favourite back at school!), but that's definitely a great choice :d

Well that's much more of an eventful day than any of you were needing! How's your Mum doing today (and how's the home care working out)? How's your feet today, after all that?

it's nice and relaxing. As much as I like my other music, I think I want mellow XD.

Mum's doing alright. Well.... about that, apparently we got the pt lady today and she puts orders in, so the nurse will probably come sometime next week but I doubt it's going to be every day so this is a bit more than we thought it was going to be. I'm not really sure what to do honestly. It hurts but i'm not overly surprised. I still had to help this morning because dad needed to be with Melody and that meant I needed to be with PT.

yeah, happy angry music doesn't really go with a relaxing soak in the bath :P

That's not much help if the nurse isn't coming daily.... I'm guessing your Mum can't dress or wash without assistance at the moment? How often is the pt lady coming for your Mum?

Just got home. Thankfully it is just a 50 minute plane ride. We had a great time together, snuggled her kitty loads naturally. And we hung out with another friend and her daughter, and Mons niece.

Well, they apologised many times and they replaced the drinks and food that could contain glass or we found glass in. And we got our desserts for free. Typical that everything goes wrong when we are celebrating my bday. They kept forgetting to bring us stuff etc too. lol but we still had fun. and the food was yummy.

That sounds like their staff could've been better, even without the glass fiasco! But at least you had fun, and the food was tasty :D :D

That's hardly fair really, especially as you've got your own health problems right now, so standing to help her put on a top isn't really practical for you! I suppose the nurse maybe focusses more on washing rather than dressing? o.O

hehe they definitely wouldn't have wanted to have done that if my Mum was there - she'd have been demanding to see the manager o.O 😊

Ive been after dad for months asking for the tax software but he admitted to me yesterday that he had withheld it until he had done taxes to make sure he could do them. So that made me ticked off and then after hours of imputting business expenses and write offs having the software basically tell me i had negative income of $821 ans deductions of $1,100 but and getting not a single penny. So this has not helped my mood in the slightest

To be honest, tax stuff like that confuses me completely! 😊 Is that down to there not being a nurse available (Gran had to wait another week after being discharged from the hospital, before there was a 'care at home' person available), or down to the insurance not wanting to fund it?

it doesn't to me either but I would think if you were able to "write something off" you'd get the money back o.o Well we haven't had the nurse come at all. However she is coming tomorrow so that'll help us see how often and for how long. Ooh love the new ha :D
