last year i had a whole ticket going on with and we moved on from it to add information in that topic since i wasn't alone with the issue: https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/895087
unfortunately that was never fixed and that topic is locked now so making a new one
basically how you see your tree on the decorating page, is NOT how it shows up on the site something about the size and alignment of things, either the tree is too big on site or too small on the deco page but something is off/wrong and i can confirm via using the direct link to the image, exemple mine: https://subeta.net/explore/luminaire/tree/tree.php?userid=656450 that the output differs from what is seen when saved
if i check the coding for the deco page, that area still says its 300x500 just like the image link, however, the tree does not fill the whole area, it doesn't reach the bottom, which i guess is what throws everything off
big image is big lol
i know with everything going on, this might be at the very bottom of the list, but i just hope this year it can be fixed before the end of Lumi ;A; so many of us spend a lot of time on them treeeeees kek hehehe
thank you so much for all your work btw! don't give up!! ❤️ thank you!!
I decided to look into this and test some things out, and what I believe is happening is that some of the decorations that have predefined positioning that users can then adjust are not honoring the user input when the final image is compiled. Looks like you might have come to a similar conclusion last year? My guess would be to look into these specific items when the canvas is bound, but it's just a guess bc I'm still a javascript newbie. ;w;
So far these are the ones I've found that snap back to their default position:
I don't have all of the colors or ornaments, so I can't test anymore of them, but I thought it might be helpful to have a starting point!

Same problem.
The decorating page (explore/luminaire/tree/index.php) saved my placement, and shows it correctly even when I close and re-load the decorator, so the placement is saved somewhere, but {tree=user} has lost that info and puts it back at the default placement that it starts in.
This seems to be happening with every decoration that has a set placement location: i.e. goes on your tree somewhere, rather than in the upper left corner; it's happening to garlands and tinsel, string lights, tree skirts, and (I haven't tested yet but suspect) probably toppers.
Hosted on discord b/c CBA to upload them somewhere long-term, but let me know if they aren't showing up:

now that krae mentions it, it does appear to be the items with placements already set. this happened with all of my popcorn chains
Still hoping this gets noticed ❤️ Thank you to everyone that added input
I know this is, once again, a late response >_< I feel like we are always battling so many things every December and this somehow falls through the cracks, I'm sorry.
We are aware of this issue, and we are actually also aware of why it happens and what causes it. Basically, a few types of ornaments (garlands and tree skirts) have a "fixed" position on the tree. You aren't supposed to be able to move them anywhere else (like putting a tree skirt on the tippy top of the tree, for instance) The glitch is that the tree editor lets you move them around and it's not supposed to.
I think the easiest way to fix this glitch is to simply let you reposition these types of ornaments wherever you want, instead of making them snap to a certain position on the tree. I think people enjoy the creative freedom anyway. I'll get this done for Luminaire 2020 :)

Would it be possible to have some sort of toggle for those items to choose if you want to use the fixed position or use your own position?
If it's not possible, that's fine. I just thought it might be useful because it can be kind of nice just having the default positions for certain things like the garlands/lights and tree skirts and stuff. But it's also not a big deal to just place them ourselves if that wouldn't work lol.
Luminaire is coming up and you did mention that in December things get really busy. If you hadn't had time to address this so far holiday season is about to start, so I am bothering you about this now just in case you can squeeze it in.
Thank you for the consideration! This hasn't been forgotten; it's the only bug report in the holidays forum so it stares at me every time I visit P&B, lol. I still intend to have it fixed for this year :D You're right that it should be done before December, since that tends to be a busy busy month, so I'll shuffle it off of backlog soon.

This is fixed for this year's Luminaire! I'll leave this report open until you can confirm. :)

Been gone-ish for a few months so I am glad I got a staff post notification for this haha, thanks so much for following through! So I made a quick one just for testing purposes, and so far so good! What I see on the building page, versus what I see here if I test the sCode in the forum, versus what I see in the coding I have for my profile, all seems to be aligned, so yay! (Tho the resized version on my profile is slightly blurry, don't know if that will be the case all over the site or just some coding woes). I suggest keeping this thread opened for a little while because it's usually when I get gifts and I start to lift things up from the ground and resave that I notice the discrepancies, and also perhaps more people will test and wanna add input here, etc.
Will the trees from xmas past be able to be re-used like it was suggested? ((All seem to be ok btw except the 2018 one, it's a broken image on my end))
Either way, thank you kindly once again for keeping your promise ❤️
User profiles have this years trees but when I click to gift the gifting page has previous years tree
Thanks for confirming! I hear you but there's no reason to believe it is not fixed at this point, so I'm closing this up. If you run into issues later in the holiday, please feel free to make a new report, because any issue you run into will be a separate issue from this one. The issue this report is for has been resolved and confirmed.
I've fixed this, but in the future please make a new bug report instead of posting off-topic on an unrelated bug report, according to the rules and guidelines of this forum.
