yeah, any that are made with the limbs knitted on, all tend to need double pointed needles and I've never got the hang of those! :P I suppose you could always crochet the limbs on, if you have a crochet hook small enough? ;)
That one's staying here (at least for the time being laughs), but I'll probably make a couple more as gifts at some point :D

lol i wouldnt even know where i would have to go lol. Cute ha xd.are those the ear?
did you have season tickets? You normally do. Hope its a good match
for us, I think it has to be taken to the dump - but that's not easy in itself (as there's not enough space for social distancing, so you have to make an appointment to take your rubbish).
Thanks :d And yep, those are the ears Niamh was moaning about not being able to wear ;)

I did buy a season ticket last year, to be ready for this years season. They have offered refunds tho to everyone that wanted it. Which is good. :) The game was erm, something. lol We lost. :K Been a dismall season so far. :P
I find working with 5 needles very fiddly too. I can do it, but its not my favorite thing to do. lol I suppose you could use magic loop, but I never got the hang of that. Maybe one day I will practice that more. ;) Crocheting the limbs together could work! Why did I not think of that before? lol

I never figured out how to do the magic loop for knitting 😊 The only disadvantage of crocheting the limbs onto the body would be the potential of getting a ridge where you've attached it (which admittedly I can get when I sew a limb on :P). But sewing up the limbs themselves (assuming it's not knitted in the round) would be a pretty good one to crochet instead of sewing, as that should be easier to make it blend in with the knitting stitches :D
I finally got Mum's baseball cap finished today (I promised that for her birthday - I'm not quite 2 months late laughs), so hopefully later in the week I can get that trial-run shirt finished. I've been putting off the shirt, as I hate doing sleeves.... I never got to grips with "easing in sleeves" as I always end up with tucks and creases instead of a really smooth finish 😊

just letting you know I won't be online tomorrow until late. Dad and I are driving to ATL to do a curbside pick up. We couldn't get some things anywhere else so are making the trip to pick up some provisions. We'll have masks with us and packing a lunch so should be safe. We might needa get out for a bit but I'll bring two old towels to sit on in an empty park if needed.
PAddy ooh love the ha today. What's that jumper? yep and our rubish isn't taking special collections right now either. lol well they were cute :D
LEne: I don't even know how to do magic loop but dpns don't bother me. its the first round that is really fiddly for me.
glad they refunded you :D
Hope your lil trip today goes well. :)
I dont know how to do magic loop knitting either.. I tried for a bit but never got the hang of it. lol The first round is the worst! It does get easie once you knitted a few rounds. xD
For me its never been easy to get an invisbile seam like you are suppose to be able to do. lol I usually end up with a ridge. :P At least on the backside. Your idea should work tho.. take note designers. :)
Yay for being done with the basecall cap. :D Hopefully you can work out those sleeves without too much trouble too. ;) Sleeves does seem like theiy would be a nightmare to fit in properly., I am sure people wont look too closely at the sleeves when you are wearing the shirts tho. :)

Hopefully today's drive & collection goes smoothly. That makes sense to get everything else you need while you're there, as I can't imagine it's a drive any of you would really want to do again in a hurry!
Thanks :d It's the :D
That's how our rubbish collection was during lockdown, although thankfully they've added that back in again now, as I get the idea some people were just fly-tipping (dumping it anywhere) rather than keeping hold of things until they could be disposed of safely.
At least if you can hide a ridge on the back, you can get away with it a little more ;) I think it's the lack of clear instructions as well, for sleeves - everywhere just says "ease the sleeves in place" as if everyone should know how to achieve that! And that's true, although I know Mum does tend to look at the sleeves before she puts something on for the first time - if there's too much fabric bulked up at the top, then you get a puffy sleeve look which Mum doesn't like :P

:nods: That is what I figured as well. :)
Hmm.. maybe there are some tutorials on youtube that could help? I often turn to youtube or/and google when I am stuck! :) Or even fb groups. :)
Hehe... it is good to see if a shirt fits the way you want around the shoulders and arms. :) I dont mind puffy sleeves occiationally. :)

I found a couple of youtube videos, but I think they probably show a relatively unrealistic sleeve size (they never seem to get any puckers & folds in the sleeve). I'll give it a go over the weekend on the trial-run shirt, and see how it comes out ;)
nods irritatingly, my shirts tend to be too snug at the back of the arm rather than the top / front (like if you reach forwards with the shirt on it feels like the back of the shirt is about to split, and the back of the sleeve digs in) - when they design shirts for smaller sizes, they seem to forget that we need to still be able to move! :P

That is the thing with some of the youtube people, they never seem to have the problem we do ourselves. It just works out flawlessly. :P I am sure practice will help tho. :)
That does sound annoying. :P Even if you are a size xs/s you still have arm and need to be able to move them around. :P

I've managed one sleeve that went perfectly on a project before.... then the second sleeve went wrong in every step! I still don't know what I did on the first one to make it work so well :P
nods for some reason a lot of pattern designers assume that if you're a xs or s then you have dainty thin arms to go with it.... which mine definitely aren't! :P

That does sound a bit frustrating. :P
At least when you make your own clothes you can make the arms the way you want them. :) I am a bit tempted to make another sweater. Will see if I spot a pattern that speaks to me. :)

it went well but I feel like I've been run over by hippogriffs today. My entire body is aching. I am totally feeling the effects of the trip. LOL guess we'll keep those loops to themselves :D
We got what we needed and it was a pretty easy process. Traffic behaved too. It's really cute. And love today's outfit glad they are back to running properly :D
Hippogriffs. :snickers: Sorry for laughing, but that one was good. xD
:nods: It is kinda nifty tho since you can knit two socks, sleeves or whatever at the same time. :)

I wouldnt know, never met one. xD
What are you upto today? Figured I head out to walk to the local bakery to buy bread. They have some yummy stuff there. :) Not too long of a walk either.

that's even better when the traffic isn't as problematic as it could be! :D
Thanks :d I thought Niamh should have an outfit that fitted yesterday's weather :P They're forecasting a heatwave (30C) for tomorrow, then thunderstorms from Monday.... I'll believe it when it happens seeing as they didn't actually forecast yesterdays's rain at all :P
that's very true, although I've not delved into the technical aspects of trying to fit an armhole & sleeve yet - that's a lot more complicated that trying to change the waist measurement of the top (that's just a case of following a different size line if you want to use the next size up), but armholes are all complicated curves that I don't want to risk tackling yet! 😊
Finding a pattern can be the most challenging part! Certainly for me, I can spend days just browsing patterns and still not find anything that screams out "make me" .... but maybe I'm just an ace at procrastination 😇

That is true I guess. It's seems a bit more complicated than making a shirt longer or shorter.. or even wider or slimmer. :)
:nods: I have found one sweater I like tho!
Knitting the sweater from my HP knits book would be fun too. :)

I admit I cheat on making things shorter - I tend to just cut the length off the bottom of the pattern (even though I know I shouldn't!). For the shirt, I was very good and took out the height at the "correct" point (between the bust and shoulder points), although that was quite challenging to not change the armhole while I was doing that (there was literally just enough room to take out the almost 3cm I needed to.... it's obviously made for an odd shaped woman - at least compared to me!)
Whoa, that sweater looks amazing! Those paw prints look like a nice challenge :D And the HP sweater would be awesome too :D I won a HP hoodie a few years ago, and never wore it (it was a men's medium size, so it's huge on me), but I'd love one day to be able to make my own one and just either embroider or use a transfer for the writing on the back so it'd look the same ;)
