nods those kids had a lot more fun than I ever remember from going to the swimming pool! The main pool was a large rectangle with one end deeper than the other, but the smaller shallower pool (which has been redeveloped again since that point!) was the one where they'd put the slides in - if I remember rightly, the deep end on that one was still pretty shallow ;) I don't know where the nearest proper waterpark is from here - we went past one on holiday at one point but never actually got as far as going there :P

RP-Paddy is still shopping at the farmers' market - I get the idea she wants to buy as much food as possible :P I hope the appointment goes smoothly squishes

He felt it and it was looking so good he took the hard cast off and didn't put the soft cast on!! I'm cast free!!! Throw some confetti I'm celebrating HAHAHA. I might have to do lazer therapy, but I'm okay if that's the case. I do have to get Orthopedic inserts sadly and they aren't cheep ($500) but hey, FREEDOM FROM CASTS!!

Paddy lol or sneak off to buy clothing so she gets featured more :P

whoa, that's awesome!!!!!! :D :D :D 😮 those inserts aren't cheap, but can they at least be swapped over to whatever shoes you're wanting to wear that day (so you only need one pair)?

hehe now that might explain why there's a lot of new items in my wardrobe :P :P

I can't find any confetti - would tiny offcuts of fabric work? :P That's a point, sandals might be a bit more complicated! How long will it take to get the inserts so you can get used to them?

I decided that today would be mask-making day (to give Mum a chance to get used to wearing one before next Friday when they become compulsory in shops).... I also sent a message to K's mum to ask if they needed any, so I've also got a couple to make for K (I'm doing three, all from different patterns / different sizes, so hopefully at least two will fit!), and a couple for my cousin (K's dad) so they don't have any excuse to not be going shopping laughs

Sounds like most pools here. lol I do have a public pool only a five minute walk from here which is nice. The only thing is they have very liminted opening hours. After the waterpark we had closed- we would have to drive a long time for another one too. Not sure either where the cloest would even be. :)

I am very happy to hear you are finally cast-free! Yay! :D Sorry the inserts are so crazy expensiv tho. That is a lot for something you put in your shoes. o-o

They got as far as finally getting a ten pin bowling alley in the local sports centre last year (I think it opened in September) - before that, the nearest one was 15 miles away. Of course since lockdown in March, the bowling alley still hasn't been open, so I wonder if they're regretting putting all that money into installing it! ;) There's an open air pool thing a few miles up the river, but that's also been shut since lockdown because even when it was allowed to reopen, the owner wasn't convinced that people would stick to social distancing. The disadvantage to that, is that people then think it'd be a good idea to swim in the river.... which is never a good idea!

that's a lot of unknowns! Hopefully they'll arrive soon, and all the other questions will be answered as well! ;) squishes

nods well I've made K's three masks, made a child's sized one for Mum to try (she found the shaped adult one came too low under her chin), made two for Dad (the third needs two more seams and the elastic), and made one for my cousin (his other two need two more seams and the elastic as well :P). Mum thinks her and Dad need 4 masks each as a minimum (to allow for them not being washed immediately), but I'm hoping they can at least try their masks when they go to the village shops tomorrow - then I know what length elastic works best for them as well... I've been doing the elastic longer than necessary so they can tighten it themselves ;)

I'm utterly knackered now laughs

😮 whoa, that's a brilliant HA-less outfit today!!

nods you don't want to find it makes anything worse by not having those inserts!

hehe I think I need to pace the day better laughs but at least I've got the bulk of the mask sewing done ;) I'm hoping to get the rest finished over the weekend, so they're ready to use / post to my cousin next week :) It would've been quicker if I hadn't made the shaped masks, but those seem to have the best fit - I got Mum to iron the seams open on the last few 😇 I had no idea which size to make for K - the 'community sew' pattern I was using for adult masks has a children's pattern but no age range listed on it, and the other one (the Olsen pattern) is age 2-5 and age 6-10 ... he's 5, so he's near enough in the middle of those sizings :K So I made one in the generic kid's size, and one of each size on the Olsen pattern - one of those should fit him at least! :P

Here most things seem to be open now, with some social distrancing and cleanliness rules. So I guess the local businesses are not strugglign as much as they were when things were on lock down. Swimming in the river sounds like it can go really bad! Hopefully people stay safe!

Hope so too! :) I am watching some telly here before tackling some housechores. xD Fun times. lol At least I can look forward to tacos tonight. Nom nom. :)

quite a few shops in the city centre have said they won't be reopening - either they've gone bust, or they can't figure out a way to open safely while still getting enough sales to warrant keeping the shop open.

A couple of the museums have said they will reopen in March next year - I guess they're hoping that by that time, we'll be totally back to normal and they won't have to worry about social distancing or anything like that!

Yeah, the fire brigade even go round to the university students in fresher's week now, to educate them on why they should stay out of the water. It seems to be working though, as there's been less people in the river since they started that, than there had been a few years ago!

It sad for small businesses to go bankrupt over this. But obv. peoples health has to come first. I reckon its gonna take some time for things to go fully back to normal. My hope is a vaccine, which scientist all over the world is working hard at. Not sure how things are with the museums here. :) I been to most in my city already, so its not like I am super eager to go. lol

That is good they educate the students like that. :)

I think it shows as well, how impractical a lot of the really small shops in town actually are - there's no way you could have customers in there and make sure they stick to 2m apart!

hehe I've been to most of the museums in town before, although I do want to go to the Fashion Museum again at some point, seeing as I've not been since I've been sewing ;) Residents get free entry for most of the museums here, so we ended up going to one of them multiple times with school (as they only had to pay for the coach to drive us into town, and we could just go round for free) :P

:nods: for a smaller shop or restaurant that is not practical at all! Here we go buy a 1m distance, but even that can be tricky when you are grocery shopping as a lot of people doesnt seem to care and will get close to you anyways instead of waiting just a couple of seconds and get more space. o-o

That is great that you get free entry. :D Here we have to pay still. :) I remember visiting the canning museum (where they used to can fish) and visiting an art museum at least when I was in school. :)

I think ours has actually reduced now to "1m plus" but Mum and Dad are still aiming for 2 metres when they're in shops ;) I did wonder if it was just people over here who seem to want to be shoulder-to-shoulder with people in the supermarkets - they seem to need to almost shove past to grab an item off the shelf, rather than just waiting for the person who is already standing there to get what they need first. Have you got to wear face masks when you're in shops? They're introducing that from Friday over here (hence my mask sewing marathon over the last couple of days!)

That stinks that they still make you pay! I think it's about the only way they know they could entice the locals to actually go to them laughs The canning museum sounds quite interesting - certainly better than going to the Roman museum with school every year for probably 4 years.... anyone would think that was the only history our area actually had! :P

I am guessing the museum didnt change much either. :P At least you must have learned that part of the history really well. lol

Mum said she's pleased you feel the same way - she was beginning to think it was down to her age, the way she saw how other people were flouting the social distancing thing while grocery shopping ;)

They had themed elements, so sometimes the theme would change, but overall it was much the same.... since then, they've introduced volunteers who are dressed as people from the Roman era, so you're meant to get more of a feel for how it would be to live in the area at that time. But I've not been since they've done that :P

So beteeen my migrians, my back hurting and my legs still recovering, im a ball of pain. If thats not fun enough our freezer has to move from the garage. Its over 110 f in there!! So weve had to do some extra work today. I'm just... dead on my feet. Zombie rav is going to bed now lol

that stinks on having to move the freezer, but I can see why it wouldn't really work that well in the garage if it gets that hot!! Hopefully today you'll have a chance to do nothing (or very little, at least) and the migraine will have disappeared to go any play elsewhere squishes gently

I'd been waiting on an order to arrive so I could finally tidy the cupboard over my wardrobe - I bought one of those bags where you store clothes in it, then vacuum the air out so it takes up a lot less space in the cupboard. As well as the two coats and two fleece tops that were already in the wardrobe, I fitted in the two winter's coats I made as well :D Mum suggested I got another one of those bags to put my hoodies in, and possibly another one for my "it'll come in useful one day" fabric offcuts (some of which came in useful for mask making :P) that's stored in a box under the stairs :P
