Neugarten is boring and I hope that it&;s not coming back now that Gunther got arrested.

I wish that they just stuffed the items somewhere and leave it at that. Neugarten was underwhelming if you're interested in anything but food, and while Alegarten had more variety it its items, it's also just a shop holiday. At least Keelhauliday has the benefit of being competitive. I wouldn't miss it too much if Staff just drop it and had the artists work on other things.

Just clarifying you don't pay for a slot and the CW separately. Being slotted just means you're on the list to buy the CW, whether that means you'll get a payment ping when it's submitted or a shop invite or whatever. You don't pay for the slot itself/the place in the list

I agree with everything @/cain said about CW&;s

I like them, don&;t get me wrong. But finding out something exists long after there was a chance to have them, or having to pay for a slot AND the item itself when it becomes available.

I thought you had to slot and then pay for the item when it's submitted......don't tell me you have to pay for both ._.

[EDIT]

Well this is redundant :'D thank u

No problem! I didn't want to write a whole novella about the different processes because it is kind of convoluted, but you definitely only have to pay once :')

Well this is redundant :'D thank u Darkrai I've mostly come across CWs in the context of competitions, where you most certainly do have to, in one way or another, "pay" for a slot. This was how I found out what "slot" means, having spent the first several days of my first event (forget which one) doing The Event Thing ... my reward was to be graciously permitted the option of paying CSC for something, rather than actually getting something for free. .___. The CW FAQ is all about tracing/copying images and batch settings, nothing that's actually useful to newbies like what CWs are or what any of the jargon is.

Yes, what said. There were a few event "contests" that the prize was to get to pay to have the slot. I have seen it where it was pay to even slot and that turned me off from going back to that forum. That was awhile ago, so maybe no one has done it recently, at least I hope so.

For what it's worth, I've literally never seen anything where people had to pay to even get on the slot list for an item, aside from contests, which I guess you can count if you want, but I feel like that's a bit of a stretch. Usually the really labor-intensive contests will give you the item for free if it's for something like the top kisser/dancer/etc. only and the vast majority are like "Kiss me 10 times and you can slot on one of these items." It's just a fun way to release themed items and also get yourself some site currency as a bonus. But I'd be sending out those 50 kisses or whatever regardless so it doesn't bother me to just redirect them to a CW releaser in exchange for a slot.

And on a related note, CWs are very expensive to commission and submit (and even if you also happen to be an artist, you've still got the expense of your time spent). Using candy hearts just because I know some have been selling for 10k recently, 50 kisses at 3 hearts apiece is worth like 1.5m sP. At that value, the most expensive category of CWs would take 1834 or more kisses just to cover the base submission cost with no profit to the creator, and not even covering a free slot for them and/or the artist. So I kind of get how having to "earn" the slot through an event might feel like you're paying twice, but it's not feasible to give slots away for kissing/dancing/whatever alone [edit] I'm not trying to argue or anything and I have no idea how this reads, but I wanted to give some perspective. Event CWs are just meant to be a fun thing :')

Whoa. As a dedicated meat-eater and wearer of leather, I did not feel "shamed" or "forced" by the Neugarten nuance. I will never in my life become a vegan because I am ambivalent to the moral issues and my body does really well on low carb diet (woo keto). So with all that being said, I think it's absolutely fine to allow others to celebrate the way they want to eat. To assume that a surfeit of vegan items is somehow shaming you for your meat-loving ways is equivalent to assuming that you're a horrible person for liking the color red when a bunch of blue items are released. No one nowhere (of the Subetan staff) ever said that you have to partake in the pseudo-holiday of Neugarten. To me, the new items are just more pixels to feed to my pet at some point. That's it.

Without getting all kumbaya about it, these two stickers both exist on this site, and they can do so in harmony.

That being said, I agree that Neugarten isn't much of a holiday. It's like a weird annual shopping trip to a land that opens only for a few days once a year, but your cousin (Quentin) is gonna annoyingly ask you for the items all year round, even though you've told them they're not in season.

I appreciate your perspective. Thank you for your post. It is better to be able to understand these things from other other person's perspective.

In retrospect, now knowing the jargon, it was perfectly clear that the prize was a slot rather than the item. At the time I was young and foolish new and uninformed, and had not understood the system. The event forum was full of "kiss me, get X" threads, so I thought it was the same and leapt in anyway.

So it felt as if I had put in days worth of effort, only to then be asked for even more, rather than given a reward. Your post gives me some closure on that, knowing that it was fair after all.

I really don't like the events with zombies/heavy gore-y images.

It's just...so overly done and cliche, I'm tired of zombies.

Not the biggest Neugarten fan, either. But I want an update about Gunther. I was thinking we might have had one around morostide but the plot we got was good. Anne is supposed to be handling Neugarten now, I wonder how that will go? I just hope we get some nice new wearables for Neugarten this year. :)

I kinda dislike how competetive Keelhauliday is. I keep missing out on good item because I have a slower connection and I'm not the fastest to select an item I want as a result. Like I'm collecting the merbaby and pirate plushies and I had to wait until they dropped in price in the user shop before I could get them in most cases.

I thought maybe we'd get a plot during Survival since Gunter's brother became Bubbles and I'd like to know how, was he infected with a virus when he died or did he get brought back another way? Also I sort of want Gunter and Anne to find out about it. But I think maybe we could get a plot during Neugarten instead, and maybe I'd be more interested in the event if that happened.

I agree that it is frustrating to not catch a single item in the pirate shop, especially since I remember one year there were still some of the older items there and it was only newer items that were harder to catch. However, the staff tired to find a way to please those of us who can't be bothered to sit around refreshing the shop all the time by having Carl give out items from there. It's not like there's achievements from buying from there like there is from Blackheart Hollow, right? Or are there? But as with all quests, what you get as a prize is completely random, and sometimes you may do all your quests and not get any of the items you want.

There's lots of people who do like it though, since restock wars aren't a thing anymore. Even if some people can't grab an item, the competition at least gives it an distinction that other holidays don't have.

Keelhauliday items also usually have some alternative way of being released too (quests or the Ocean Depths vending machine), so waiting isn't the worst thing.

Good point about Keelhauliday. I wasn't around when restock wars were a thing though.

Not the biggest zombie fan either; I like the less gory /cute viruses such as caterkiller. Speaking of gory, the red strain looks neat at the end, but MAN are its beginning stages SCARY!

we even got a discord that had staff updating in real time(!!!)
Oh no! I missed when this happened! D: Is it still a thing or was it only a thing for a while? Sounds like it was(or is) a neat idea and I'd love to be able to check it out, if you don't mind letting me know.

And, man, I sure do hope that liking staff isn't an unpopular thing. I love these guys and all that they do! [sub](& now I'm concerned that the srgrafo edit I posted might have been taken the wrong way because I meant it as a joke about a vocal minority, not that I was unhappy. :[b]/b[/sub] Even the bit of issues that popped up at the beginning of the last event was, I thought, handled pretty quickly. And, we even got the extra morty card drops, which was totally not needed but absolutely appreciated. That's the last time I can remember things really messing up in... years, maybe?

But, it's possible that I've just been playing too long because those were barely issues even, from the way things used to go down all day, every day for events, with staff trying to put out those fires, spin up servers & just doing their best.

I'm glad that you've had positive experiences with the SB. :) I've seen others who haven't. But personally I have no experiences with it because I'm a chicken and stayed away from it haha. Anyway yeah, all my knowledge of the SB is second-hand, but I've heard more bad than good. Just seems to me if that conversational energy was transferred to the forums, it could be just as helpful and timely, plus those helpful messages would be preserved to benefit others, and toxic behavior would be less enabled because messages would not be so evanescent.

I also hope that staff appreciation is not an unpopular opinion. This site isn't perfect but I love the staff and I know they do their best. I'm a very cynical, pessimistic, negative person, but I really do my best to not show that here because I know it wouldn't be constructive. Once in a while, I get frustrated and can't help but to allow myself to complain, but I hope it doesn't overshadow my appreciation for the staff who work hard to make Subeta my preferred online home.

I don't like Alegarten, and it's gotten worse ever since the vegetarian stuff...eck, no thanks. Not saying Oatmeal should turn into a meal...but as I love meat, I don't like the vegetarian theme. I hardly participate in this holiday or buy any of the stuff.

Not a big fan of Survival - or at least the zombie part of it. Especially the gross foods...

I never liked the change to the Anniversaries and the discontinuation of the goodie bags. I LOVED them and still miss the goodie bags that float around. I don't and didn't mind the items containing the year at all. Same goes for New Years. I saw nothing wrong with them having 2016 or whatever. Don't get me wrong, the New Year shop now isn't bad. But the Subeta anniversaries now SUCK. I also miss the free gifts from the NPCs that happen for a week...for Children's day or something? (I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion. Just putting it out there)

I hate CWs. They're RIDICULOUSLY overpriced and completely taking over the wearables market, and it just strikes me as a very exclusive, elitist clique. Unless you're a rich person, CWs are basically unattainable.

I also find some of the people on here extremely obnoxious, mainly relating to the news posts. I swear the staff could give us 1 billion free CSC and SOMEONE would still whine about it. Didn't your mother ever tell you to not say anything if you don't have anything nice to say?

As for neugarten, I'm honestly dreading it, and I hope the staff changes it. I cannot deal with that days long, site wide dramafest again. I'm a happy omnivore myself, but people took it WAY too far. Items catering to a different belief/lifestyle is NOT a personal attack, and the fact that anyone actually felts like subeta was "shaming" them for eating meat is rather sad.
