Outfit Not Found

What's inside my picnic basket? I think I would go the classic picnic basket with little sandwiches of assorted meats; Genoa salami, Capicola, and Prosciutto. Of course there would be fruits like apples, strawberries, and bananas to go with it. And perhaps a Mediterranean salad. Desserts, maybe some muffins or cupcakes. For drinks I would bring a little mix of everything; water, juices, and maybe some alcoholic beverages as well lol. Aside from that just dishes, cups, and cutlery. Though I would use the recyclable kind, no dishes to do when I get home!

Private Outfit

In my basket... sweets, always! With plenty of water and fruit (berries, grapes, fruit salad galore! Without pineapple or kiwifruit, but with all the melons) to wash it down. Some savoury snacks - crackers and cheese, carrot sticks and dips, fresh, delicious bread with ham, lettuce, tomato, cheese, avocado, etc. Cold meats too! And hot chocolate. Cutlery, crockery, a beautiful rug. Sun cream. Plus some cards and board games for my guests' amusement. ^_^

Ahhhhh!!! The design contest... I'm having a really really really hard time judging this one... I stare at the entries and stare at them, but I can't quite decide what to do with them... :/ They're just getting so good....

Haha, yeah, I think it was a fun one... But I somehow expected everyone to struggle more! Maybe I should have limited it more, or required only Delish items or something... :P Because they still did a really good job...

DAY OF SILENCE 27th of APRIL

Today is the Day of Silence.

Perhaps you know it already, the Day of Silence was established in 1996 to highlight the impact of harsh words on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender students.

This annual event is for school, college and university students to go against their natural instincts to be noisy and take a vow of silence for the day. It is a serious issue though, with its aim being to bring attention to the silencing effect of bullying and harassment on LGBT students.

It´s a very important event yet did you know there are other festivals of silence, too?

Contrary to several other cultures all around the world who celebrate the New Year with dynamic and sparkling festivities, the crowning point of the Balinese New Year 6 day celebration is a day dedicated to complete silence. On the 3rd day the entire Island comes to a standstill, with no scheduled incoming or outgoing flights. This day is called Nyepi , meaning “to keep silent” and falls on the day after the dark moon of the spring equinox when the day and night are of approximately equal duration. Hotels are asked to cover their windows, all shops are closed, all! No light or candle will be lit in any Balinese home, no cars on the road, no motorbikes, no people. It's indeed a very special experience which shows us the deep impact noise and quite has on our lives.

Lisbon hosts one of Europe’s most exciting literary festivals connected to silence. Festival Silêncio is a relatively new international literary festival bent on popularizing cutting-edge art forms which reveal the power of words. The events merge literary forms with performing arts and range from literary concerts, slam poetry, staged readings, conferences and workshops which alternate silence and the power of words.

Last not least, the Cadillac Cycling Club is hosting the Ride of Silence . In a silent slow paced ride around Lake Cadillac in honor of those injured or killed while riding on public roadways, they raise awareness for better attention in traffic.

So let´s celebrate this important day with a HA contest and some silence-assocciated prizes!
