waves back The only reason I can think of for me personally to invest in this new weapon is to prepare for the scenario of a T10/ T11 pet going against a challenger whose secondary icons are physical and ice. T12 - T13 pets should be just fine with the Syringe and this one pale in comparison imho even with its 30-icon, one-turn curse. USS does come with a 10-icon, two-turn curse which equals 20-icon curse which is still nice.
I just hate that it doesn't guarantee a consistent block of both physical and ice. I meant to say in my previous post that if it consistently blocked 90-icon of ice and had the same price tag as the OHS I'd be happy to buy it even if I already owned USS. At 50-icon ice OR physical block and most frustratingly the random defence the price tag doesn't justify investing in this weapon for me.

Battle Quests done for today. Completed Level 25.
- happily waves your way - I think I'm a little confused. Why would the new weapon possibly be better for a T10/T11 pet to battle your example challenger? USS is a T10 weapon, so couldn't they use that as well? And why for defense against the challenger's secondary icons? Is that because a challenger's primary attack icons at that level usually require a bigger (90 or 100 icon) block?
I do understand why you would want a consistent 90 icon block. (Being still at T9 which is just before most of the scaling weapon blocks get big I am very much aware of how useful that would be. :-) In fact, it will probably be the best thing that happens to Tos when she reaches T10 very shortly is that some of the weapons she already has available to her will become much better defensively.)
- happy December to you too! And congratulations on ending your first set of Battle Quests for the month with a perfect score and a win against the Unstable Snow Fairy.
- congratulations on earning your first two tattered scroll pieces.
- good morning, hope you're finally feeling better.
- you're welcome - and glad to hear it. Hopefully, that runny nose will run away soon and leave you completely back to full health. :-)
Yes of course a T10/ T11 pet can use USS for the ice block if they haven't got enough speed to make the most out of the Flail. What I meant was, if the bonfire blade blocks as consistently the USS does, I'd be willing to buy it because if there was a challenger whose secondary icons are ice and physical, I'd naturally go for the better, more suitable option that is the imaginary bonfire blade with 40-45 physical AND 40-45 ice block. A T10-T11 pet would generally have lower health and def than a T12, so having the correct block is better for survivability. If the bonfire blade offered such solid def and such a challenger existed, and if I had access to both the bonfire and the USS, I'd instinctively go for the bonfire blade, especially if I don't want to wait for more stats to make up for the lack of def and wand to get early wins in.
At T10 and T11 opponents often deal big icons but not many deal 100-ish of two icon types. I imagine that having a big block plus a dual-icon blocker would help a lot plus physical is a very common icon type among many challengers too. Having another solid option that doesn't scale with a specific stat similar to the USS would therefore help a lot, and unless a pet is settled in high T12-T13 I would say I can't have too many weapons. Unfortunately the bonfire blade doesn't have that solidity to offer despite the staggering price tag. That's why I said the USS still beats it hands down ^^.
- Oh, now I understand. Thank you so much for explaining. That does make sense. And consistent dual blockers are much to be desired - especially ones that attack and heal too.
And I have been noticing that physical is a common icon type among challengers (and one I really can't block at all effectively yet.:-) ).
For physical blocks, Ether or AU would be preferable. Esp AU with its chance at a 50% heal. (THAT is a big reason it is in my set against Ice King) And while blocking physical and ice is ideal for defending against said King, the uncertainty of the defense is a deal breaker. I see no real reason to grab the new weapon except for status or a weapons gallery, if you can afford it.
