For me it was a combination of things. I was getting fed up with neopets and an old friend suggested subeta as a replacement. I looked at the subeta pets on neocolours (I didn't know subetalodge at the time) and I remember being very impressed with the nightmare color. But when I saw these ghostlies, I knew I wanted to join.

Someone mentioned Subeta on Neopets (obviously that post didn't last long...). Decided to check it out. I liked the pet designs, and was especially drawn in by the Sheeta.

Problem was, I couldn't join straight away. Subeta kept rejecting my email address at the time. I think there was an issue with Yahoo addresses back then. Tried again sometime later, and finally got an account. Been here over 12 years.

Oh, definitely the dark pets (but I like the cute pets here too). More than eight years ago, I was ranting to a friend on neopet about how they didn't have enough dark pets, and she suggested subeta to me.

Same as some other people, a friend on Neopets suggested joining because some of the rules weren't as strict (especially chat rules, this was when people were getting frozen for the stupidest things).

I made an account mostly to chat with her, but I didn't end up really getting involved here until a year or two later when I got even more tired of Neopets.

I used to look at the items on PPT and wondered what this subeta was all about. Then after the whole neopets pet conversion crap someone had posted on PPT's forums about joining subeta. So I joined on a whim and have been here since.

If any non-neopets players ever wonder why there's a larger group of users who just (or are about to) hit 10 years around the same time this year, thank neopets. lmao

My friend said the wardrobe and avatars were very cool and I was only half convinced but joined to check it out and she was right, it was amazing compared to the other site I was on. xD

Stayed ever since but funny story : almost quit because I thought 10k sp was A LOT of sp and was like ugh everything is SO expensive I will be forever nekkid. Until another friend pointed out questing was a thing lol. Good times, man. Good times.

Someone listed their Subeta username on their Neopets profile. Griffin? Gryffin? I can't remember exactly, but I used their username as a referrer when I signed up. I was looking for something else to play besides Neopets.

I was looking for a pet site because I missed Neopets but remembered how awful it became. I found a site that listed a lot of pet sites. I checked out a few of them, and Subeta looked the most active and had the best art.

I joined Neopets a couple years back. I liked the pets and clothing but hated the lag and errors. Someone mentioned Subeta on the Neopets FB page (I think) and I joined. Got confused navigating around the first few days though. 😆

I think I had a similar issue with joining Neopets! I had wanted to join as a young child but something always went wrong when signing up. I'm not on Neopets as much now, but I'm glad I got to achieve that dream. :)

I think you should get one of those ghostlies. I have an angel ghostly myself. :)

I actually just joined a few days ago. I saw it on a Facebook ad, and then checked out a YouTube review. It reminded me a lot of Neopets, which I really enjoyed many years ago, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The pets here are much cooler, but it seems harder to navigate. Perhaps that's just because I don't remember Neopets that well though. :) I'm starting to get the hang of this site, but I still feel like there's a lot I don't know. Thank goodness for the power of search engines! I'm happy to be here.

Ironically, someone from Neopets suggested this site to me. I'm really glad that I decided to give it a try because it's a lot more open here. Being able to have tons of different pets all on the same account. The fact that you don't have to worry about things you post even if it isn't bad. It's a lot more easier to reach goals on here and there are a ton of things to do. :)

Honestly, I was sick of the super strict rules and stagnant updates from Neopets. It was really refreshing seeing a nice and active community here. :)

Same as a couple others in this thread, someone mentioned Subeta to me on Neopets, and at first I was kinda sceptical (because I wasn't a huge fan of dressing up avatars as no fashion sense - online or offline!). But this place seems so much more fleshed out and wanting to improve/please the community, so I became hooked pretty quickly, and pretty much forgot about Neopets!

I'd liked the look of the pets for a long time (I wanted a Spectrum Keeto for yeeears) but I'd heard some things about the site that made me wary. But then I got my main account frozen on Neopets and I was annoyed and bored (even though I had, as I was allowed, temporarily moved my main to a side). Someone who was quitting Neo suggested subeta to me and I was like, well... why not. I did get my main Neo account back but subeta is so many worlds better! I slowly stopped going to Neopets, I haven't been there in a long time.

I also came over to Subeta from Neopets. I had been a pretty active Neopets user for a while and was getting tired of the site, but still wanted something similar to play around on in my free time. Someone must have posted Subeta on maybe the forums or the guild I was in and I decided to check it out. I've been here ever since! Over 12 and a half years. Time flies when you're having fun.

I was a Neopets junkie , but when Neopets went through its major art change I couldn't stand it anymore. I needed a new place to get my pet site fix. I adored the art on Subeta, REALLY adored the fact that I could have more than 4 pets (I think the max you could have when I joined was 15 or 20 and boy was I stoked) and the community was active, so things just fell into place and here I am!

The art! The pet profiles and both the official art and people's fan art of the pets convinced me to join. (another one of those neopets is getting stupid, what else is out there things haha)

I knew about Subeta a while before I joined due to some of the artists, but it wasn't until after losing my account on Neo that I thought I might start looking into other sites. I was still kinda bummed and not ready to dive just yet but then a friend pointed out that they had a trick-or-treating event and she made a list of all these pet names that were still available on Subeta and after that I was just YES, LET'S DO THIS. I thought a lot of the colorfills were more attractive than most other sites I'd seen and I loved that (at the time) we had personal art galleries and the site had an oekaki.

Friend referred me to this site, and she continues to remind me to come back for cool stuff (most recently for the Quest-a-Thon). :p I think the ability to make custom items really lured me in though I don't think I'll ever make anything, but I love the avatar system and the variety of fun pets.

I liked the idea of having both an avatar and pets, and I learned rather quickly after joining how much better Subeta's economy was in comparison to Neopets.
