It did always have the heal and the 3 mod slots, but the attack is very scattered on it. That would be the one downside to it imo.
- Right now the is unbuyable with none in trades either. :-) And guess which other two weapons I don't own yet either? Lol. Or for that matter, "a bunch of cobalt scrolls" - I do own one, And when Tos gains one more AP I will be able to equip the cobalt with Aftershocks and GoTF. (I know, my armory/scroll library has improved from when I started spending time here, but it is still very limited and only okay - not yet good, let alone great.) So since the trident is what I have, the trident will just have to do! I have been getting a decent number of freezes from the though. For Tos' stats, it actually has double the chance to freeze of the flail and it even has a water and ice block. No heal for the rapier, but, as you pointed out, the flail doesn't have much of a heal for her either. And I actually own the rapier - yay! I have some other healers that have better attack for Surge (like or so I could try those I did beat him twice today fairly easily. Some days he just seems to take forever, though. :-) There's a reason why you went and bought all that expensive stuff!
- maybe. MrCool classes Surge as "at least T9" and Sierrac at "high T9/T10". And it is a struggle to get a single win on Surge. Also, I don't own the signet to unlock Sierrac and it is a lot more expensive than just buying the flail. Guess I'll just have to keep doing things the hard way for now, thanks.
- you beat Surge with a T8? Wow!!! And with only 4 losses? Totally amazing.
- don't worry. You will continue to grow and then you will be able to beat him. If you're close, you could consider a Negating Pylonic to use if you get him down to one hit's worth of HP. Or you might want to throw a few dark potions (but that can get expensive if you try to do it daily. :-) ) Scrolls will help once you have them. And they also have the advantage of helping with lots of other challengers as well. For what it's worth, I think it took me several hours to beat Surge the first time. And I can think of several challengers that I just couldn't quite seem to win against. They beat m day after day until one day that win finally came. This one will come for you. Good Luck!
Thank You for bringing me back my item! To thank you, here is a reward.

Thank you :D I got a hunch I could stand a chance but the win still came as a nice surprise. Actually I've got a little theory that I'm testing. I've been using it to size up my opponents and calculate my chance of scoring the first win:
I call it the 33% theory
So the theory is:
A pet with stats equalling one third of the opponent's in strength, defence and speed has a chance at the first win or more if the following conditions are met:
The following needs to be tested/ supported with more data: Pet's health versus Opponent's health ratio; Whether the number of icons per icon bias should be lower than 20 per turn, or per weapon; How many icon biases the opponent has to maximise the chance for a win (I'm guessing at 2 max).
It's not an exact science though, and I'm still testing it. Still, I'm glad it works with Maskros against Surge 😄
- Well, back when surge came out my secondaries were way to little to try, but they could both beat sierrac when he first showed up only a few months later. I don't know which tiers they were, but Myrryah easily got 10 wins on sierrac yesterday and is still getting absolutely trounced by surge today. It might be a different story for different builds, Myrryah is built to hit hard and fast, Sierrac freezes more, but has less health, and doesn't boost, the longer battles like with surge, she just doesn't do enough damage to get bast all his heal and block, and then then one or two freezes and it's all over. The fact that I have better utility ice block and literally all my good weapons do massive water attack probably doesn't help either. Maybe Surge is easier with the right weapons, but I have always found Surge harder, even for my T13.
- wow - very scientific! I'll have to look for how Tos' battles stack up against the 33% Theory. It's an interesting thing to think about and will be helpful in deciding whether to give an opponent a try.
- now I'm really confused. I haven't seen Sierrac, but MrCool lists his health at 11,000 and Surge at only 6,000 - or are you saying that Sierrac doesn't do as much healing? Also, I just looked at Myrryah and she is T10 and well above Tos in everything but defense. I'm certainly not the expert here, but I honestly don't understand why Myrrah isn't beating Surge. Maybe it's your water attack set, but I was using Blessed Trident which also does a lot of water icons, Large Gutting Knife and General Error's Rapier, so nothing that special. Also - Surge freezes pretty easily and you can damage him with water while he's frozen. Oh - and I am fighting Surge in BQs where he doesn't get stronger with each battle. Are you talking about getting more than one win outside of BQs - I can see where that would be much more difficult!
You Won! You have defeated Lightning Sylph Cynde earned 1500 EXP Points!
Woo done for the day~
Hope you all have a good one.
- Huh, I thought that Sierrac had much lower health. It must be the weapons then. Surge blocks a wider spread of icons, and heals every turn, I can usually only do 400 damage to his 333 heal, and even in BQs he has weapons that boost his defense and strength during the battle. Sierrac can also be frozen, I have better ice blockers, and my weapons don't do the same icons he blocks, so I guess that makes him easier. Surge's healer is also a % healer, which means that it will heal more in regular battles after each win, where sierrac's is set at 400.
- Surge doesn't have a percent healer, but he certainly does love to pile on those 333 heals until I'm sure it feels like he does. :-) He does boost even during BQs. And I can see how good ice blockers would make Sierrac lots easier than he looks to me right now. Still, I'm sure you should be able to beat Surge as well. actually got a win against Surge with a T8. You may not have the same weapons, but unless you're dealing nothing but water, your much higher stats should more than compensate. Of course, outside of BQs, I have no idea how much harder he gets after each win. He certainly takes a long drawn out battle for Tos to win (the only short battles are ones where he wipes her out early. :-) )
I forgot what the panzer hydra blade does. I have it in my wardrobe with the gauntlet lol.
I think it really depends on how you build your pet and what weapons your enemy has, how long before you can beat a certain challenger. Oranos was able to beat sand dragon, GE , saggi, the ice king, slaglord and others well before being 33% of an opponent's strength, defense and speed. In his case, his health is so much higher that he can withstand an opponent's blows. However, he struggles with opponents like meatslab, awakened that block a lot since his strength is so much lower. Blasting and freezing also completely changes the equation. With enough freezing scrolls, you can have a really low tiered pet beat a much harder challenger through chain freezing or get lucky and blast two weapons the opponent keeps using throughout the entire battle. I would also look at your pet's health vs your opponent's strength instead of your opponent's health. An opponent can only hit so hard based on their strength and number of icons of damage. At some point you can just heal for more than damage they deal.
- unfortunately, I'm not totally sure what it does either. :-) The beginning stats at T7 are 7-8 earth, 7-8 fire, 7-8 physical, blocks 7 light. 7% heal, and the stats at T11 are 11-12 earth, 11-12 fire, 11-12 physical, blocks 15-25 light, 8% heal. I don't use it often, but it does heal as well as the Large Gutting Knife, so I sometimes sub it in when the icons match better for some reason since the heals are equal. By the way, those stats are from SubetaLodge. At one point early on I looked at my results using it and they seemed to fit that spread reasonably, so it shouldn't be too far off.
6/7 pets with 10 wins on the TBT challengers. Time to go and change my scroll set for the last pet. I really need to get his AP up so I can stop swapping around scrolls x.x;
Happy birthday!
I think it makes for a better wearable, but it could have its uses for someone like saggi.
- Weapons can sometimes make all the difference. I remember have a really tough time with Slaglord, and then the short swords came into the crystal shop, so I got the shinwa one that blocks magma and it made him so much easier! I really have nothing decent in my armory that doesn't have water as it's main icon. I'll try again today, but for some reason, surge just doesn't want to get defeated.
Yeah, there should be exceptions. Pets with high health and optimal set can afford to achieve a lot more than their evenly trained peers with medium to good sets. The formula I'm using somehow predicts better for my horde of evenly trained pets without access to the best weapons and scrolls. I actually used it to build Hanson's stats to help him beat Crawbeast and Prodigy with the Frostbite Amulet too. Of course it still needs major fine-tuning and it definitely doesn't work for opponents that have freezing disabled or partially disabled. I would for example be less inclined to pit Maskros against Unstable Snow Fairy even when she's got 1,500 or slightly higher in Str, Def and Speed 😄 She simply won't stand a chance :P
- I don't use many wearables. :-) Plus I was curious at first about what it did, so it went in my armory. It doesn't see much use, but it sits there nonetheless.
For evenly trained, that may be the case then. I didn't pay close attention with Verdugo early on training. I only really started with Oranos who I immediately starting jacking up health when all his other stats were at 500.
Yeah I pretty much live in my wardrobe. If I have a weapon I don't battle with because I have better options and it is a wearable, it goes straight in my wardrobe.
- I know lots of people who do that, but, as you may perhaps have noticed, my wardrobe has only a few items in it and is sadly ignored most of the time. :-) On the other hand, every once in a while I find a useful weapon in my vault gathering dust from before I was a battler. :-)
Thanks for mentioning that sword. I went and picked one up for myself. :)
- are you talking about the Rapier of Error? (There are so many swords I can't keep them all straight. :-) ) If so, it scales with speed and I think you'll find it useful once you get to 1300. By the way, I noticed I missed your other post earlier - congratulations on beating Lightning Sylph and completing Level 20 BQ for yet another day. This has definitely turned into a regular habit for you! :-)
