I guess I need to play around with the weapons I have then

- that would be a good start.

A blessed trident or an Aftershocks scroll are great, but also expensive and you might be just fine with what you already own given your stats. So unless, you want them anyway, or have something specific in mind, I would start with what you already have and then you can see if something is missing. (I know I don't have certain blockers like dark or water - and I'm short on freezing, so I adjust for now and think about adding those when I am ready for another big purchase. I need more AP and then more scrolls. You'll find out your strengths and weaknesses as you try things.) And sometimes, especially when you start beating a challenger for the first several times, you may need a dozen battles for one win. As you know what to do, you can win with fewer losses (or even no losses). If you're losing to The Gate Keeper because he is freezing you then parched mods are in order and are a real bargain right now so you can use lots of them and upgrade once you have a more stable default weapon set.

That's another thing I really need to learn, what's the best way to use the mods? What weapons do I place them on?

- parched tears are so inexpensive right now I would put them in all your mod slots - at least for any weapon you are going to use. Then I would upgrade to Parched Baguettes later on. Usually no more than two of those per weapon. Leaving slots open for other options. The most frequent base mods I see used are (buyable in the Battle Shop) or but again, they can be changed for certain challengers or to help cover holes in your weapon set. For example, if you really need water defense you could use Water Defense Baguette Crystals. With the recent stealing gelatins (the Wizards and Stompers - a lot of Blessing of Natural Armor tear crystals (also from the Battle Shop) were used because they protect from stealing as well as freezing where parched mods only protect from freezing.

The trick is to have everything covered somewhere in your choices of weapons/scrolls and mods. So what mods you pick can depend on your default weapon set. And then customize where needed for a given challenger, being aware that mods disappear if you remove or replace them or if you take a weapon out of your armory. So I only have Parched Baguettes on the weapons I use 90 percent of the time and live with cheaper mods elsewhere. And you see lots of parched mods because so many challengers freeze and most weapons don't give you freeze protection. Parched are preferred over BoNA because their antifreeze blessing lasts five turns once activated. BoNA protects from both freezing and stealing, but the blessing only lasts three turns.

If your weapons have no mods - just adding parched tears will probably get you past The Gate Keeper and possibly Mornrise Serpent as well.

I bought three Parched Tear Crystals...so I'll try placing them on some weapons...

- if you are trying to keep from getting frozen you want LOTS of parched tear crystals. I have three of them on several weapons and two on others. Against high freezing challengers, you want to have five or six (or more) being used each turn so you have a high chance of activating the blessing and keeping it active. Each tear individually has a 5 percent chance of activating the blessing. As you use more of them each turn, your chances improve. (But they don't add - two tears is not 10 percent but rather, two separate 5 percent chances.)

With Baguettes, I have two on each of my two main weapons, thus having about the equivalent of eight tears each turn. (But Baguettes are expensive so those can wait until you know which weapons you will be using often enough to be worth it.)

I'm a bit late in the conversation. I read that you bought the blunderbuss and nunchucks and you're trying to defeat the Gatekeeper. The blunderbuss is loot from Fish Breath Jaqcues, and the nunchucks are loot from Felibot, which are both much easier to defeat than the Gatekeeper, so you probably already had them laying around somewhere xD Ah well, they're not very expensive anyway.

I have a tier 9 pet which is just shy of 1500 evens, and I gave the Gatekeeper a try with the default set I have for my t9. I lost on the first try, but hadn't used my full heal and blockers yet, and the second battle I won pretty easily. So Haneul should be pretty fine in dealing with the Gatekeeper. I used the Blessed Trident, Large Gutting Knife, Phoenix Quill, STS, RV, Rapier of Error (didn't actually use that one in the battle), Soma Tablets, DDS, aftershocks and Gift of the Forj. I didn't pay any attention to the icons of my weapons, so if you fiddle around a bit to protect yourself, it shouldn't be that much of a problem to get a few wins. Soma can be replaced by the Recycle Blaster, one of the full blockers can be replaced by Reviver of the Lion and Gift of the Forj can be replaced by some freezers.

I got some large hits on my pet when he used attacks with lots of dark or physical icons, so those might be worth trying to block.

Is the Maliss Cannon infinite use? That one blocks a bit of dark damage. Maybe pair that up with one of your healers, the reborn wand or the bluud wand. Try to freeze him with the RV, Scientist specs, Psycho Smasher and Shriek of Despair, and maybe use the Rapier of Error when he's frozen to try and get a chain freeze off?

Sorry for chiming in ^^ I just beat GK once with my T9 pet with ~ 1,340 DEF, 1,400 in HP and 1,660 in STR. Can you replicate my set and see if you can get a win?

For scrolls I used: x1 x7

You can replace the following with cheaper options or those available in your armory: = = another weapon, such as the

I ended up not using my full heals (Pquill and Reviver) when I won him so I think you can swap out the reviver if you haven't got it for another attacker instead.

The soma tablets are another blaster just like the recycle blaster but with a chance to freeze. The Ultimaplus Tag is also a classified stealer with a small chance to freeze; however the only static and predictable feature is its 25% heal, so instead of using it at the beginning of the battle like the soma tablets, you should reserve it until later for emergency heal + chance to freeze.

You can swap out the perilous whirlpools for your Psycho Smasher, Shriek of Despair and Fatal Fire. Fill any bit of AP left with Cobalt Eternal then Perilous Whirlpools once you have had the other scrolls equipped. If you're low on freezing scrolls, save them until you feel your health is low, or your anti-freeze blessing refuses to kick in. Their purposes (when you're low on them) are to help you buy another turn to heal yourself up or for your blessings to activate. Cobalt Eternal and Fatal Fire are for when your health is low and you want a bit of defence while you're using a full healer in the same turn, as not using a shield then would leave you vulnerable to his attacks. You've outsped him now so he can't crit you anymore. I imagine the main problems with him would be his freezing and dark icons.

Finally, at your stats and health right now I highly recommend investing in an infinite healing scroll. It will make the difference in battles for you against foes at your current tiers (e.g. Gate Keeper). Divine Denizhen is my personal favourite for my smaller pets, but at your stats you're ready for better scrolls of their kind. Aftershocks, Feather Explosion and Ocean Currents are some to look into. I'm not sure about the chance of the Cruise Opponents coming back this year, but if they do, they will come back likely around the time of the Keelhauliday. Crawbeast is among one of them and he drops the OC scroll. If he comes back this year the price of the scroll will drop significantly so you can keep that in mind while saving for your infinite healing scroll.

You can do it! There is a chance for him to use a weapon that will instantly kill you and he also has an infinite use 100% healer that makes him extremely annoying if you don't blast it so expect some losses but he shouldn't be too bad. I used Natasha for bullet generation, OHS for steal protection, Cronus for boost and trident for damage. I had them all modded with critical strike and bona. I mainly used Natasha and OHS, then if I was protected from stealing I boosted with Cronus to finish him as quickly as possible. The trident was a backup in case he stole. I also used it at the end of the battle with Cronus to finish him off quickly since it is one of my harder hitting weapons. The trident was modded with parched instead of bona.

It looks like pinged me because you might need some help with battling? Is there a challenger in particular that is giving you trouble?

Thanks again to everyone for all the welcomes! I've been training Brandine up and having a lot of fun watching her stats grow.

Current Stats Level: 45 Strength: 105 Defense: 105 Health: 102/106 Speed: 107

I'm trying to keep it all even. I was going to bring her up by one level but it gave me 3 level jumps from one training session -_-;

Good job! Yeah sometimes the training centre does that but if you keep things as even as you can it is ok if some stats get up a little higher, you can fix them all in due time. Keep up the great work!

Best to use them on any pet under tier 4. :) Might be good to give it to a pet who is struggling to gain stats right now. ^_^ Good luck.

If I replace those two weapons (The tablets and Reviver ) with my Tag and Flail, I can. I only have 1 Cobalt and 1 Perilous Whirlpool though.

As for infinite healing scrolls...I have a Champion....I think it does some healing?

I have beaten him twice, it just gets to the point where we are both in the red, and he just has a little bit more health than me, so he manages to kill me, despite me using a healer and all of that.

I feel bad for my pet now...knowing he should be able to beat him, but can't because I haven't gotten the right stuff for him..lol

Fruit Punch and The Gate Keeper are being a real pain...lol
