- My sister keeps trying to get me to watch the show, she's convinced that the last book(s) will never get written. She may be right, but I just didn't like the choices that they made in the show. I stopped watching two seasons ago. Bran is my favourite, but also Ayra. (also, not having to study doesn't always mean more time, time to start adulting mah friend!)

I haven't dared to take on the Mage at least not quite yet! Every time I've tried it hasn't ended well! But maybe things will be different now with my Cronus Blade & ME to guide my hand!

First time doing BQs since the Gelatin War started. (Hope everyone was pleased with their results - haven't looked at my official results yet.)

I figured as much ! It was an intense week of Subeta during the Gelatin War AND the Quest-A-Thon Though the positive thing is that I got the battle bug bite again and been doing BQ since, and I even beat Sophie 5x! Still wondering what to do with my additional PBB :P

- wow! Congratulations on beating Sophie five times. I assume that you should sell your second PBB since I don't think you can actually use two of them, unless, of course, you want to put one in your wardrobe.

- which is your BQ pet? The Gate Keeper was one of the first ones I managed to beat at Level 21, but it took a change in weapons and strategy to get it done.

They are tough , but I think GK is the easiest of the 6 challengers that are in levels 21 - 24 (Cursed Effigy, the Tormented, Mornrise Serpent, Saggitarius, Sandragon, Surge, The Gate Keeper)

You can also check 's Battle Blog. It breaks down a lot of the challengers into their weapon damage and defense icons and recommends strategies as well as weapons.

Haneul is my battle pet. I have tried to battle the Gate Keeper, and Haneul can last...5/6 moves maybe? I didn't really pay attention

- sounds like a good plan to me. Especially since there seem to be several selling right now. Of course I have no idea whether 20 million is a great deal, or the normal selling rate since PBB are T11 and Tos is still T9. :-)

Haneul should be able to beat The Gate Keeper. Tos can do it fairly easily now and her stats are only about 1500 each, Haneul is well past that. Tos also beats Cursed Effigy, the Tormented easily and Mornrise Serpent. She has also made it past both Surge and General Error (but those were certainly harder.

For The Gate Keeper - Tos uses and . My main scroll is . I also have a and one but didn't when I first started to be able to beat him.

Personally, I usually freeze and blast plus healing scroll first turn. Then my two best attackers. I like to save UltimaPlus Tag for when I need its healing as well as it's chance to freeze (it also can steal). At first, it used to take several losses for each win, but you should be able to win most of the time with Haneul.

And, Cursed Effigy, the Tormented is just a matter of having weapons that do the right attack icons because there's no healing or freezing and he blocks several icons. recommends and . Tos uses instead of the nunchucks now. It also helps to have a full blocker or two , or just in case you get behind, but, again, with your stats it should be easy.

I purchased the PBB at 50m back on April 2013, so I'd like to recover at least half of that LOL... I'll definitely hold off selling them at the moment

- almost makes me think that I should buy one now and hold it for later. I see PBB used a lot.

- it sort of depends on who you're fighting. I take a screenshot of any weapon set that works for me and then I can start from there the next time and add any upgrades (like when I got AoN and could use it instead of Shinwas Temple Shard if I only had room for a single full blocker - because AoN can last more than one turn). Generally, you want a blaster and a freezer (in your case probably the Scientist Specs). Also at least one attacking healer which, for you would be the Reborn Icewand of Doom or the Bluud Wand (depending on how much attack you need from your healer). It's always nice to have a second healer (one that doesn't take the healer slot (like the Plague Claw or Twisted Rift Blade). And, of course, the Phoenix Quill can help as well.

Sometimes you just need to experiment a little and see what works well for you.

I have had good luck using Rapier of Error and Perilous Whirlpool (and in your case the Shriek) when I want more freezing. Rainbow Vortex also has a small chance to freeze. So if you can figure out a way to get enough freezes to win before you are killed that can work well. (Remember to put parched mods on your weapons so you don't get frozen and killed first.)

Unfortunately, I'm not the best one to give advice here. or might be able to do a better job since they're both familiar with more of these weapons and also have higher tier pets.

I start by reading 's blob and seeing what he says. Then I look at the icons that the challenger attacks with (you want to block those) and the ones he blocks (you want attackers that do most of their damage where he doesn't block). So I don't use the against a challenger that blocks dark, for example.

I rely completely on Aftershocks as my main scroll and don't do much freezing because I can't. So it also depends on which style of battle you are going for. If you are trying to chain freeze then you need more freezers and less blocking or healing because the challenger can't hit you when he's frozen. If you are trying a long defensive battle, you need a good blocker for the icons he attacks with as well as a healing attacker that can damage him for more than he heals for. Etc.

It sounds complicated (well, it is a little bit complicated :-) ) but it gets much easier as you try different things and learn to pay attention to which icons are needed.

The Blunderbuss and nunchucks are only for Cursed Effigy, the Tormented because they are able to hit him with icons he doesn't block. Although I have used the Blunderbuss with other challengers when I wanted water damage. Basically with him, all you need to do is to hit him hard enough to kill him before you die. Especially with the Rainbow Vortex (and a Negating Pylonic just in case if you are willing to spend the sP) that should be pretty easy for you. Sometimes I blast the first turn and sometimes I don't bother.

I hope all of that made sense. It's sort of hard for me to explain since I'm really mostly still learning myself. :-) Once you get the hang of it, I'm guessing you can probably get to Level 25 BQ or even further all the time.

Right now because I'm tired and stuffed up, it makes no sense...lol. I'm sure it will once I get a good night's sleep, lol.

Certainly no reason not to buy the Blunderbuss and nunchucks - they're worth it even just for Cursed Effigy, the Tormented and as I said, I do use the Blunderbuss other places.

You don't need more health to beat The Gate Keeper. As I said, Tos stats are all about 1500 and she has been beating him for some time now.. If you are close to beating him, even one extra round of freezing or one round of using a good attacker plus an attack scroll and a full blocker could make the difference.
