- I was training one pet, but reading to another, so then I was like, well all those books would be a waste if I don't train that one too, and then I was like, he needs a training buddy, so I trained another pet, it suit her personality too, and then it just cascaded into training ALL my pets. It's an obsession. I'm not allowed to adopt any more pets cus I don't need to train more, but I know if I got another one I would. I have toyed with the idea of adopting, training, zapping pretty like, and sending back out into the world, but I am also one of those people that gets attached too easily :P Extra loot is nice, and all of mine are getting different builds so I can play around with different strategies. Two of them I plan to keep in the lower tiers for if they continue with the tiered boss thing.

I've just never been as much into the pet aspect of the site as a lot of people are. I kind of have personalities for my two pets that I have now, but I haven't really made profiles and stories for them or anything.

For the longest time I just had the one pet that I read to and fed and did everything with for the achievements and such, and eventually that turned into making him my serious battle pet. The other one I don't really do anything with except train. But I like the two of them together, and I don't feel like I need any more to keep track of even though I end up liking some of the new colors when they're released. I'd probably have to like one of them a super lot to get a new pet, and even then I'm not sure if I would.

It never hurts to have more loot, so the more battlers the better. 😅 I think I'll end up training all of mine too by some time next year, maybe. 😅

Your overlays are lovely :D I really love them. I guess different people are attached to pets for very different reasons. It's always interesting to know why someone is attached to a certain pet of theirs :D

described it pretty well. XD For me it's like an addiction of some sort. I always landed straight into auto-pilot mode and put them into the training centre as soon as I adopted them. I train my other pets for the same reason does, that is, to experiment with different builds. I'm often curious about why some builds fare better against certain opponents than others, and one way to really understand it is to have first-hand experience. Plus if I've got a pet at base stats I often feel like it's missing something; that's how it would end up in the training centre like others, and even before I know it it's Tier 4-5 already and by then I wouldn't want to stop :P

I also like how the distribution of prizes worked for the last plot battle :D I was pretty much a noob last year as far as boss battle is concerned, so I didn't put in a lot of effort. I was still happy with what I got, though, but I'd love to try harder this year :D

- I have stories in my head for my pets, they just aren't written yet. One day... ONE DAY! (I've you know, only been here almost 10 years)

- All of mine is less than you are already training :P Extra loot is nice, but I rarely have enough time to battle with all 14 of my pets. I usually only end up with 3-5 copies of the loot on the easy opponents. Kyann and Myrryah are finally starting to be able to get loot out of the EH challengers though, so that's been nice!

I've participated in a few boss battles since Carbonite was tier 6, and I was pretty happy with last year's distribution of the prizes. I like having the combination of wearable prizes and stuff being distributed based on total number of damage, but then having the top weapon prizes being distributed to some of the top fighters in each tier. I think the past few boss battles going back over the past year or so have had top in each tier prizes though, that's how I got my maniacal core and malhuili.

I think that's a bit more fair than just awarding the top 50 or so overall, since most of those end up being Tier 12 & 13 pets that smaller pets just can't compete with. I can understand wanting to award the weapons especially to serious battlers who will use them, but not every serious battler has made it to the top yet. I've certainly gotten plenty of use out of my Malhuili, so I appreciate that I was able to get one for putting in the effort compared to the other pets in my tier at the time.

It's worst for me because I have almost 40 pets and still want more. 😅 Anyway, it is quite difficult to dedicate time with so many, but I can by spreading things over a long time frame. As long as the reset isn't in 2 months from now, I can get eveyone battled out as I want for now. I believe my 12+ pets don't need too much more. I'm almost done, for now, with the tier 7s, and I'm not working on my 6 and 5s for a bit longer.

I also Iike the possibility of ten pets per tier getting the top prize, and especially for pets from Tier 9 until Tier 13 for the reason that you mentioned. I actually regretted not sticking around for longer after I understood how the prize system worked (I had participated only in Shengui and Omen battles, and was never really active during the Gel wars or other plot battles to catch up with the changes), and wished I had asked my battle friend for some advice, but there is always next time I guess :D I just hope that the Gelatin War will happen later in the summer since it is unlikely that I will be able to participate fully if it happens earlier than that.

I'm sure you're enjoying Malhuili and the Core. I'm hoping to earn the Core this year too :D By Morostide I will be strong enough for the Gel wizard and I can't wait to earn my own Concoction :D.

Yeah it's nice to award the pets from every tier for their efforts, especially when the weapons they get can still help them as they grow.

I'm glad I was able to get a core last year, since I don't know if I'll be able to compete with the tougher pets for one as I move up in tiers. I want to get a concoction too eventually to make the essence, but I'm not sure if my pet will be strong enough yet if there's another gelatin war this summer.

Much as I'm excited about the war, I'm worried too. My attention span is miserably short and I tend to get shaky under time pressure, and the competition is indeed fierce from here on, so I'll just do my best and wish for luck. I'm actively saving sP too, so if I can't earn the top prize I can have some spare sP to buy it with.

I think we're strong enough to get 5 wins. 10 might be difficult, but if I'm desperate enough I will resort to the Emo Spork trick 😄 When pride as a battler < loot LOL

She blocks like everything but water, so you pretty much need to spam dark water potions and any weapons that have a high water icon count. Also prey she doesn't use her brats to steal your items.

At least maybe for this year's Gelatin War they'll hopefully do the same thing where you only have to fight one of the Hydras instead of every time. I'm not a huge fan of the boss battles either, but I just put on some music or junk TV for background noise and power through it. I find zooming out helps so you don't have to scroll as much, just keep clicking your way through. I set a goal for myself of how much cumulative damage I want to aim for and I don't care about how many losses it takes me.

I would be happy with at least 5 wins. If I can't get the 10 wins, I may end up buying one of the concoctions if the price goes down once more become available again.

I just had a look, he had 2,500 speed so unless he has a stat upgrade it's unlikely that he will crit hit Carbonite. I believe with BQs you will pump up your speed just in time for him. He's actually in EH category too, so I bet we can get 10 wins with a bunch of losses due to his stealing.

Thank you very much for the tip. Part of the reason why I didn't go further than the threshold damage for the book last event was because I was too concerned about keeping down my loss counts, which I only realised very recently to be rather naive and pointless because in so doing I missed out on the prize that would be of much more help to me than the numbers on the stat page are. I learned my lesson and would make sure I wouldn't miss out on opportunities from now on :D

I'm on a laptop though, so I'll have to find a way around the scrolling. Otherwise I'll have to constantly zoom in and out for healing and stuff.

If he's an EH challenger, that doesn't sound too bad and maybe we could get lucky. I know he does steal a lot, but I'm not sure what kind of icons he does (or if it's pretty even for everything).

Looking at the previous rank lists, it takes me more losses to get not much more damage than others. I don't know how they do that, but since losses don't really matter I don't care. :P

I think the only prize I didn't get for the boss challenge last year was the Hydragellos Lost Tooth, which to me is kind of whatever. The only thing I'd be trying for this year I guess would be maybe another core and whatever new prizes they end up releasing (if there are any).

And I'm on a laptop too, but I just zoom out and stay zoomed out. Switch between the battling and the healing tabs, but then I only have 2 pets so it's easy for me to see him without having to zoom in again.

You're right, every page which shows my army feels a little bit cluttered and I'm short-sighted too, so I have difficulty reading small texts.

I would also aim for the core. I believe my pets will outgrow the lost tooth at some point, so unless it is used in a genetech combo for some weapon with heal, I won't see myself use it very often if I had it.

The wizard seems to do lots of dark, water and physical, with some other icon types thrown in the mix but they're not that threatening. I'm lacking a dark block so I probably will have to borrow one for him. I'm mostly concerned about his stealing and healing. Past win 5 that 10-15% heal would be troublesome since he will likely have like 16,000HP plus so potentially heal for like 1,600HP per turn every time he uses the Gelahealth. That will likely scale in battle 7 to 10 too 😞

- I don't think I could deal with 40 pets! That's so many! I have room for 19 pets, but I've only got 14. I don't know how you do it. I have two T10s who haven't so much as beat Angry Arnold 10 times, much less the EH guys.

- If the wins reset, the achievments don't, so you still would have the wins you got last time, so you might only have to fight in to 5 wins next time :) GL getting a Core. It still evades me after 10 eyars of battling. One day I shall have one!

Oh no now I have even less hope for the core :'( LOL This year will be my first serious boss battle and I'm completely inexperienced sooooo I guess I'm wise coming up with plan B a.k.a saving sP just in case :D

The reason why I want to have all 10 wins against the wizard is because I'm one of the impatient bunch XD, but the achievement not being reset will be a lifesaver because if I manage even a couple of wins against Rouland this year I wouldn't want them to go to waste :'(

Somebody please gives me some hope. At what stats/ tier would you guys with more experience with Rouland say a pet can get 5 and then 10 wins against him? I'm aiming for 16,000 core stats and 5 wins this October but if that's too ambitious I'll adjust my plan a little bit.

@ Virus Yeah, I vaguely remembered P-Staff being good against her, so I used that, but she murdered me anyway. I'll maybe give it another go later. I do remember her being a major pain in the rump no matter what weapons you use. Maybe I'll hold off a while yet. Now I just need to decide if I want to keep inching toward the cap with Thracian at 7 points a day, or if I want to really commit to this two pets thing and start BQing with Domon.
