Battle Quests Level 21 - The Gate Keeper - here we go again ... :-)

[edit] Got him! Decided to try something different. Used the Panzer Hydra Blade (which has 3 parched tears on it) and tried a double attack/double heal with my Large Gutting Knife (also 3 parched tears) rather than an attack/defense (Large Gutting Knife plus Flayed Lord Breastplate (2 parched tears). Only got the one battle this time, but it seemed like the parched blessing was easier to activate and the extra healing plus damage at least (if not more than) made up for the lack of defense. I will have to remember to try this again and see if it works out long term. If nothing else though, it makes me very happy to have finally found a use for the weapon that Tharg managed to win from the five-headed hydra. :-)

I'm glad so many changes have been made. I find it more fair now that serious effort is rewarded rather than heavily based on luck as it originally was.

Thank you for the great tip :D I'll let my smaller pets starve and fully healed then (aw poor pets) so that the battle and heal page wouldn't feel cluttered.

[edit] Congratz on your win and the new strategy! :D Please let me know how it goes in later battles. I'm sure my T8 pet would appreciate it once she is ready to take GK on :D

- ah, the Gelatin Slayer! That's the T9 weapon that blocks dark! - thanks for the reminder. And I only need to kill 1900 more of those pesky little Mini Gelatins before I finally get one too. :-) At least I will probably have more than one pet that can help with that next time they show up.

We'll be grinding minigels together this year! I've got about 2,200 or so to finish too for that Gelatin slayer for my smaller pets.

- sounds like another reason to start one more battle pet - to help with those minis. (And I swear I only wanted one pet - really! I got the second because I had to make a pet for some event or something, and I wound up with Gulp because Tos and Tharg were in the resort and I had to eat something for another event.) I had a feeling I should spend more time with Tos killing those things last year, but I was still only just starting to think about battling. So yes, we'll grind away together. At least we'll be in good company and we can Whistle While We Work

Also something I forgot to say re: Forj P-staff. Sucks. Don't bother. Its block is way too inconsistent. I got my last couple wins once I gave up on it and used Trident/Syringe.

@ Julie There's not really much advice I can give on him. I used Ether and OHS against him for the first few battles, then I found better luck with the AU instead of Ether. He likes to freeze, so double down on BoNA. Hope to blast his psychotic stares, cause you won't be able to block the magma and ice damage, and they're his freezers. Open up with Helm, but save any chain freezing for when you're a little low on health. It's hard to suggest anything else, cause he never gives you a break with the 100+ icons of earth and physical. I pretty much hid behind my OHS and AU the whole time, and still took 18 losses before I got my 5th win. [edit] You Won! You have defeated Prodigy You won a(n) Impossible token to use in the battle shop! Domon earned 3500 EXP Points! Head back to the Battle Quest headquarters to finish up this quest! Because this was level 30 you earned 3500 experience!

omg I had no idea he could beat Prodigy! :o I'm probably way behind on this; I took him out in one try. But yay I'm so proud! ^^

With the exception of Chums, they're just not that meaningful to me. So grabbing a pet from the pound with a nice name, building up its stats, and drawing an overlay doesn't really make me attached to them. My aim was just to take a few abandoned pets and turn them into pets people would enjoy having and be more likely to hang on to. After the three I'm planning to give away now I really should take a break and focus on the ones I kind of want to keep. Even four total is too many though.

@ Archer Congratz on your win against Prodigy with Domon! I'm trying to figure out how to deal with this guy too.

Beating up all of those mini gelatins is super annoying, but at least that's another instance where having more battle pets can help! Hopefully your smaller pets make it a little easier for you, it really wasn't fun when they were taking multiple turns to kill. ;~;

@ Laurey Thank you! It was more luck than anything but now that I stand a chance I won't have to give up on the last quest anymore even if I still run into him after using up my free skip. It's true that killing a couple thousand of those minigels is taxing, but now that many of my pets are approaching T6s I hope they can contribute their part and earn some small EXP for themselves too :D The problem is still with myself. I get distracted very easily :D

Congrats on the Prodigy win! I was gonna say I used ME and MW but you beat me to it! And with a good bit less hp; I was attributing my wins to the ~500 hp he's gained in the past few days. I'm impressed!

It is easy to get distracted when doing the same thing over and over so many times. I just try to keep telling myself it will be worth it maybe. :P

Although if you're able to make the maniacal essence, then you won't probably need the slayer except to sell it or use for smaller pets.

Thank you so much! I don't have MW and am waiting to earn mine this year and the next when Hanson is getting stronger. I've been stuck at getting him down to 6,000-9,000 HP the last (numerous) times I tried. This was more luck but I'm so glad I didn't miss out on those EXP :D

Domon's win actually inspired me :D I saw that after boosting my defence using Mecha I'll be around 500 defence behind Domon, and if Domon can take him out in one try I might have a slim chance. It worked wonder (with an unexpectedly unbroken streak of freezing from PWs too :D)!

Yes, the ME will be the ultimate goal, I guess for all of us :D I still like the Gelatin Slayer though, my smaller pets will appreciate it a lot. Plus I can't say no to more weapons especially if they come without me having to pay a penny XD.

I think the discussions were around whether a set of opponents would come back to the CS during BF sale, then it drifted to boss battle strategies and then the price of Swash and whether it's worth it to do Item Hunt quests nowadays. :D

Wow, no MW either? What did you use if I may ask? I was thinking the Tempestuous Bladed Gauntlet might be an alternative...

Nah, nothing big. Just lots of chatter. Talk about boss fights and gelly wars, and me spamming a lot of Domon's victories. :p

glancing thorugh it, it looks like you guys were talking about the crit hits again too? How I had suggested a simple experiment recording crit hits. Do you know if someone did that, or were they just talking about it?

just woke up so I'm off to do dailies to start my BQ ;) Since the OHS is a Millionaire Center weapon, it's got a fixed price, though it didn't occur to me to search for a sale outside to see if I could find it cheaper lol
