- your job sounds like it is frustrating right now. I know that can happen in support jobs like you are doing, but it really shouldn't happen so often. Sounds like they need to get a better maintenance staff, more robust equipment and/or someone to help you cover the hours. If they can't/won't do that, maybe you should think about finding a new job. I remember it can be really draining when you are working under those conditions for any length of time, even if you really enjoy your work otherwise. Hope you are enjoying your drink and Battle Quests. :-)

After the things I am learning in this thread, I would definitely consider buying a trident. Thank you for the price information. It would almost certainly be cheaper than trying to buy all those bobbleheads!

That's sort of how I felt about forfeits - just keep hitting and see if you suddenly get lucky. And I have also decided to just skip blocking and hit with two weapons when I'm about to die - lol - maybe I have a little bit of battler in me somewhere after all. :-) But I can understand using forfeit as a time strategy the way seems to be using them against General Error during Battle Quests.

I would be delighted if they would do that! I can see restocking for scroll ingredients now that I have a few actual targets.

- Wow, to me that looks like you are equipping a whole army of mages! :-) I'll remember that you lend them. Sometimes borrowing a couple of the right scrolls can make all the difference. Of course I still need to do a lot of work on my pets' AP before scrolls will be useful in any quantity. Fortunately, I've always liked to buy books.

I'm a little surprised that Trident is still so fondly looked upon. It used to be that Trident was the budget version of Swashbuckle, but now Swashbuckle is buyable on shop search.

I have a bit of a fondness for Swashbuckle though, since when I first joined the site, the aaron revamp had just happened and swashbuckle had just been upgraded to pretty much be on par with the god weapons. I bought the last one off the shop search for 50mil, and I think I flipped it 2 weeks later for something like 300mil. Then went on to win one in item hunt a couple weeks later.

My job is very taxing, hence why I am looking for a new one. Our support staff is very good, it has nothing to do with them and has everything to do with the machines. We've had these machines since before I started working there and it is VERY hard to validate and release new equipment to the line. That's just part of the business. I don't have the time to invest in the projects I want to do because this mess always takes priority. They know I want to move away from this process but there's no one there that can do my job right now. I am training up one of the swing shift guys to be the process owner but it's a catch 22: I need the time to train him but can't because of these issues that need me to make a decision and take action.

ANYWAY, yeah I finished my quests and am ready to pass out. Yeah if you the challenger was going away tomorrow and you found a blasting strategy that works then forfeiting would be the best option to save time. I don't care if I take the loss and I still have a month before this challenger disappears so I'm just going to keep on trying. I am not 100% sure if my current strategy is sound. I got close once but haven't been able to repeat it since. I wish I paid more attention to what I blasted.

I have always preferred trident over the swashbuckle, since it was first released. I like the attack better, better curse and a blessing.

- I can see why you like Swashbuckle with that history. Of course Swashbuckle is T11 and the Blessed Trident can be used at T8 which matters when you are fighting with a T9 pet. :-) I am sitting at Level 75 of Item Hunt waiting to have the time (and, hopefully sP) to get to the end. So maybe, I will own a Swashbuckle by the time Tos gets to T11. (I do see that it can be bought on shop search right now. If I were T11, I would seriously consider doing that. I do hear people here talking a lot about the Trident's blessing, which is the one thing it seems Swashbuckle doesn't have, aside from the lower tier use.)

Exactly, I could see if I was desperate to beat a challenger that was about to leave using forfeits for time reasons (although, like you, I really do prefer to keep fighting until the end). And losses are no problem.

Thats the other thing I forgot, Trident has a better attack, but defensively Swashbuckle is marginally better.

Trident is probably a bit better for daily use, on not close battles, but I preferred the slightly higher healing on Swashbuckle to Tridents blessing.

I kinda wonder if Item hunt is even profitable to complete still? I know they have rereleased a lot of the finishing blow items which has made it a lot easier to complete, but I would think 2 collection items could very easily take the profit out, even if it is possible to make it to the end a lot easier.

- that's some of why I'm just sitting at Level 75 (and have been for a long time). If I remember right, when I stopped there it was because after that point many people were being asked for unbuyable items. I would think finishing would be more about getting the achievement than expecting to profit. Also, about being able to start over again, since I used to play every day and generally came out ahead. And isn't thee a battle opponent you can unlock if you finish?

- yes, apparently you get Chase as a battle challenger if you forfeit after spending enough sP or you can buy him after you win. Also, you can apparently use the Gilded Item Tome to reset yourself back to Level 50 after you've already won (as well as to jump to that level) just in case you'd like to play again. :-)

I'm not sure if that is true. I think they made it so the gilded item tome no longer works after you finish. It used to, but I think they changed it.

I am about to do my daily activities before diving into BQ, though I am not sure if I'll be able to hit past level 20 before calling it a day... so tired! haha I do want to use this chance to test the helmet! excited

I always felt the Ice King to be impossible (after the 2nd win) so I always ignored the RE whenever I got it. He feels like an easy enough challenger with 2 full blockers and 5 cobalt eternal scrolls hehe :P

Also the trident is awesome, but I'm really shocked at how pricey it is! I remember buying it for checks 75m back in July 2012 :o

What I'd love to see revamped is the battle text... it's hard for me to figure out sometimes which weapons give a boost, and what's a random & useless comment. I'd also love it if the text mentioned if your weapon(s) (or the opponent's) gave a blessing or a curse, kinda like "your ___ weapon suddenly glows, blessing your pet", or "Curses! Your opponent's ___ weapon has inflicted a lasting effect on you", or something of the sort, just to know when they happen and to learn them faster/better :P

so many scrolls! :o All have gone into my WL and to my ingredients-to-buy list :P

I would say most of those probably should not be high priorities. I don't even have a theorycraft reason for getting most of them yet. Most of them have the potential to have potential with 2 very large caveats:

1. They are only good against very difficult opponents, so you need 20+ of them to probably really make them worthwhile
2. You need to have access to multiple of the right god weapons to make them work.

The idea is to equip 20+ and a multi use scroll, and use a 3 god weapon set up, includng a god weapon the blocks the same icon type as the scroll your using, to give you 2 100 icon blocks, and a 75 icon block and 20% healing.

A couple of them might even be just worse than cobalt/sant.

Yikes And I thought they could be great for certain random challengers... like using Typhoon of Valor Scrolls against the raging storm sylph if someone doesn't have Swashbuckle or isn't T11 yet.

But yeah, you'd probably require large quantities to make them worthwhile, since they are OPB.

Right now I think I'm pretty far away from a god weapon, let alone a 3 god weapon set up :P

I usually try to do my other dailies before Battle Quests, as well. What's in your set?

Getting the easy ones out of the way so you can finish when you're more awake it fine. Doesn't matter what time you finish as long as you get them done sometime during the day.

Yes, I'm sure the Ice KIng gets much easier as you are higher tier and better equipped. So many challengers work that way - they're impossible forever ... and then one day they're not impossible ... and eventually they even become relatively easy.

To me, it doesn't seem that hard to figure out what causes a blessing/curse. Some of them are listed in SubetaLodge and other places. The text with the blessing/curse sometimes helps me figure out where it came from as well. What I would like is a directory for all those little icons so I know what they are when I haven't seen them before (or have forgotten them). Since they tell you a lot about what will happen on your next turn, I'd really like to be able to read that information quickly while battling. (Maybe a hover would help there? Although I don't know how hard it might be to code.)

If you have enough AP to last the entire battle using the scroll every single turn, you don't need 3 weapons to make it work, you just need to make sure to do the math to figure out if it is better first. If you are on a budget, I would have a rock solid plan in place to take on a challenger before making a purchase like I did today. I think I spend ~120-150mil on random scrolls today. And thats after already having tons of the real staple scrolls like GoTF and Psycho Smasher and Shriek.

yeah I know, but it's ridiculous! Juniper Oil was 5k yesterday morning, now it's 36k.... Moonwort was like 8k and now it's 28k; other ingredients went up more than 100k in user shops throughout yesterday alone, I mean... come on!

Regarding blessing/curses, while I'm more of a visual person (a hover would be great too!), sometimes I do prefer to read and when I want to do that, I get more confused haha

Doing my Battle Quests and this happened

You notice a Bloodred Potion on the ground, but right when you bend down to pick it up, lizard minions come out of nowhere and scurry off with it! As the lizards attempt to escape, your trap fires, but instead of capturing the lizard minions, it hits them on the head... poor lizard minions! How could you? Shame on you! You shrug, and attempt to retrieve Bloodred Potion, but the comatose lizard minion refuses to let go. You decide to stuff both into your pocket. You are so mean.

A nice surprise and the first exciting thing I've managed to catch with the lizard minion trap.

- laughing - well you did make 100 scrolls! Not sure how many battlers will be making scrolls in that quantity all at one time. :-) Very nice, of course, if you are able to do it. And very kind of you to be willing to lend them to those who can't.

Wow - that's quite a list. You might consider adding a few visits to BHH (you never know, you might get lucky) and possibly Blackout. It doesn't take long to play and can be done every hour. Like EXP, after a while, the sP does add up. :-)

I understand. I''ve recently been trying to figure them out as well. I did find a guide to blessings and curses but it is from 2010 and doesn't look like it got finished. It was helpful as a starting point for me though.

BTW that was 100% my bad on the scroll ingredients. If you need to borrow any type of scrolls like I said let me know and i'll send them over.

I left that 36K juniper oil alone. I think I bought something like 30 Juniper oil at over 36K but under 95K, which is why it jumps like that. It was an ingredient in multiple scrolls.
