Ugh I am having the absolute worst luck with the Mage in like forever... in total I have turned in about 20-25 amulets total within a 2 week span and not a single tome... he must really be pissy with me it seems.

I have it in my wardrobe and not my armory.

According to Subetalodge, it does 5 each of 7 different icons, once per battle. So it's just a bomb, but there are probably better ones (especially if your pet is higher than tier 5).

Most people probably use it as a wearable because it's kind of pretty.

It breaks things down by tier and then by what they do. It's not entirely comprehensive, but it's a good place to start if you're looking for some upgrades. You could also go through the set advice threads and look for some around your pet's tier to see what other people have suggested.

Thank you! The funny thing is I'm reaching Tier10 soon without any clue. :D And after stalking some threads I realize that I have good weapons, but just in my wardrobe. I could kick myself.

Ah, don't worry, my pet was around tier 9 before I started getting really serious about what weapons and stuff I used. This is also the point where you have to try tailoring your sets to specific challengers, so it helps to learn a bit about what the decent weapons do and what the opponents do.

How do you know which challengers block what? Just by trying or is there a way to see their weekness?

You can usually find guides for some of the more difficult opponents especially.

I think there might be some on-site as well, but if you just search for the challenger online you can usually find something. The Subeta wiki also has some challengers listed with what they do. Otherwise you could always ask here for some challengers you can't find and see if anyone has any strategies if there's a particular challenger giving you trouble.
