Hey! Starting us off with a few pose sketches for the floof -

Fun fact! The Northern Lights just danced up above where I live a couple of nights ago! ..but I slept through it "orz

I'll make a cleaner version once we figure out the sketch if you'd like, since they're all really messy right now - just to make sure we get the details right. (: Please let me know what you think so far!

OH you are lucky that you live somewhere where there is even a possibility to see the Northern Lights. I've never seen them except in video, pictures, and satellite images (but those count as pictures... LOL) but I think they are amazing. One image I saw of the lights made it look like there was a spite dancing in the sky, it was so beautiful. It was that image that inspired me to want to do some sort of mer-person that was connected to the Auroras.

I like 1 and 3 - can't figure out which is better between the two. Let me talk it out... (mostly in my head). lol Number 4 is also really cool and unique too - I like that it encompass a lot of the canvas. 2 is good but seems almost sad to me.

Let's do number 3. I think that will be cool, especially because I know that the day version will not have a back-facing view so it'll mean they are really different. But I still like number 4...

I don't live far enough north to see them regularly, but I did see them twice a few years back - the first time I even stood directly under them! It's very humbling; I'm the type that usually feels fuller & at peace when I look up at the night sky, but under the aurora I just felt so infinitely small compared to the powers at play up there. It was really electric. (grins) (That said, it's weird - I always thought they looked poorly filmed or something on TV or wherever, but they really DO look like a bad gif..? Ha-ha~)

Thinking out loud is good. ^^ Three it is! I won't delete the others though, so if you find out you want to come back for Four or One at a later date then that's entirely possible. ~

Then I'll clean up Three a little & dress her up in some colours, and ping you back again after that!

I agree when I look at the night sky I tend to feel a sense of at one-ment-peace (like being centered and fully present) that is really welcoming. I would love to get that other sense of our insignificance but usually that comes from intellectualizing how large the known universe is, or even just our own tiny speck of a solar system and the molecules that make up everything - it's vast. So our tiny conglomeration of molecules is so insignificantly small when compared to the vast cosmos that it is truly humbling to me. So they do look like a bad gif, like often shown on TV not more like they are in pictures which is clear? Wow! I didn't realize that, how interesting. I love your pun. ^^

Totally. I think between the aurora & I it was less a intellectualising-thing & more about the energy; it was just so raw, I for one felt like I just couldn't 'stand up' against that, you know? I kid you not, they 100% do look like bad gifs. Focusing on & following the movement of the pillars (or whatever one should call them) is easier said than done; it's a bit dizzying, ha-ha~

As for my guitar, I don't dare to venture into the wardrobe with this lag going on, but I think it's just the layered underneath my base..? My own electric guitar is black as well, so when I realised that the on-site guitars were wearable AND looked decent... Well. ~

Ooh wow, that sounds electrifying (sorry...) and I so need to experience this in real life now. I really had no idea that they truly looked like bad gifs. Now I wonder how on earth I would make a watercolor that looked fuzzy like a bad moving gif... giggles This is really a new idea to me, I thought those were just bad picture quality.

I can imagine it being so ethereal and enlightening all at once. You're so spot on with how to describe the feeling in that experience.

I am easily moved by nature though, so pretty much any force of nature or beauty can cause a recreation in me.

Thank you for the info on the guitar - I am glad it is not a CW, that means I have a hope of being able to wear it! lol I don't have an electric guitar in RL. My main instruments are voice and woodwinds but it's not that fun to walk around carrying a flute. A sax strapped to my back also does not exist on site, though that is how I usually carry it. A guitar would work for me because it is an instrument that can accompany me (my sister plays while we duet or sing together on guitar or piano). Anyways, so thanks for the info. <3 Do you (or have you ever) play(ed) with a group or in school?

I'm the same - nature stirs me easily. It's what you get for easily picking up on the energy around you I suppose - nature is full of pure & powerful energy, so once it hits you the ripples go deep. ~

Sure! They come in many different colours, and they're pretty cheap, too! ~ Oh wow, I didn't realise you were so musical! That's amazing! Lucky you, having someone to play with, too. I'm pretty much an absolute beginner both at guitar & keyboard (following a lifetime of fear & self--doubt based on what I was told was inherited unmusicality, as well as a whole lot of confusion, screwing up, and internal discouragement), and I want to learn to sing, too (even though I've got a crow stuck in my throat /laughs). Music is extremely important to me, but for now I'm on my own. I've lost a lot of time not knowing what to do or how to go about learning it, but it feels like I've made so many mistakes by now that the path forward seems to be clearing - I really hope it is. Maybe one day I'll be good enough to play with someone, and hopefully then I'll meet someone who likes what I like & wants to play with me, too. Here's hoping~☆ Hope you don't mind me asking, but do you play/perform professionally or 'just for fun'?

I'll have to experiment, I usually do really precise and detailed work with watercolors. So doing something with salt, alcohol, or choppy is difficult for me. I will give it a whirl though. I agree about the energy flow of nature. I always feel so at home and safe in nature. I really love being in it and around it.

I hope you find someone to play with eventually too. Playing with people really makes the learning process much more enjoyable and speeds it up considerably.

I do not mind you asking. I used to perform professionally all over the bay area of California (mostly San Francisco and Oakland Areas, but we did tours all over the west coats up into Oregon and Washington) with a few different groups I was apart of vocally and with an orchestra. I used to teach music, actually as well. I am retired now from everything, due to a disabling condition which does not permit me to go anywhere, sadly. I still am quite passionate about music and wish I could go out and perform. I recently had jaw joint replacement surgery (last year almost precisely) which destroyed (hindered them useless) several muscles in my face are required for an embouchure. I can still play the flute though I am still working on recruiting different muscles to pull off the task. I have found it really difficult to play the sax, clarinet, and oboe though because I can't form the tight pressure required on the left side of my upper lip. So every time I articulate air escapes like a newbie. lol It's disheartening to say the least. My surgeon thinks It'll come back eventually, but he says at least I've still got my voice. I suppose that is a blessing.

Wow, that's impressive! I'm sorry life threw you such a curveball, but I'm glad you didn't give up on music because of it. Hopefully you'll be able to recover & regain some, if not all of your control! It shows a lot of strength & passion to keep at it either way. Keep your blessings close & your fire burning bright!!

If you ever get the chance to join a group and find that connection there really is nothing like it. It's a special and unique bond. When you have to disband a group or leave for any reason it is so disheartening. It is like a deep relationship ending in death, it's so sad because what you had was so fulfilling and raised the light within many notches. I do hope to get better, at this point it is as unlikely as a comet appearing in the sky today. However, you never know, miracles can happen and medical miracles might be in the wing just waiting for approval for my condition, who knows. ^^

It is so good to have many things on a to do list for learning. It is always good to expand the mind and invite all sorts of good and worthwhile information into it. Otherwise your mind atrophies and curls up in a sad little ball.

I love the overall flow and look/feel. She needs to have thinner-longer-more-real-looking eyebrows and a nose more round less pointy, like the nose on my current HA. It does not have to be more realistic, just slightly less pointy. She will not have lips? Do chibis not have lips? IDK - I don't know much about floof-chibi style. xD Also I think she needs a bit of blush/pink on her cheeks for life-color.

Color-wise I think she just needs a bit darker scaling up her back so it is easier to tell it is her back. IDK there is just something about it that feels off to me. ..... OH! I know what it is! In my mind she had a back fin but I didn't mention it in the write up because I didn't think you'd be able to see it. In the examples of the mer-folk the boys specifically, see how there is a fin going up the tail like it were following the 'spine' but it kind of stops at some point up the lower back... Something like that. I may hate it but can we see it with it just to check to see if that is what it is making it feel off to me? Everywhere else I am enjoying the colors a lot.

Also you will be adding the flecks/sparkles of light from the bioluminsecing and some shadows later right? We're just fleshing out details and things not including those?
