In the spot that I'm stuck, that won't really work since it doesn't fit the story's pacing :'c anywhere else that would work though, but not in this one place unfortunately D:

This is what I get for not writing a story outline xD;

Oh, dang XD Okay. Well, it was worth a shot. Maybe someone (your gf for example) could look at it and help you bounce ideas?

Maybe, hmmm... I'm weird with my writing though, cause if someone gives me ideas I'm like "but I want the story to go this way, not that way, and--" I'm a horrible person to try and give story advice to xD;

That's very true lmao I myself like to listen to music a lot when I write, but I know a lot of people can't do that cause it distracts them too much :p

Yeah, my fiancee can't listen to music that has lyrics or she ends up writing the lyrics instead of the words she wants. I write better with music, lyrics or none... though usually I have a habit of finding a song that fits the scene I'm writing and then throwing it onto an indefinite loop until I get sick of it or the scene ends.

That's what I do lmao xD I only accidentally write the words if I'm trying to sing and type at the same time but some songs get my writing muse going for certain scenes :p

Sometimes the song itself it motivating, sometimes it's the sound of it... actually, my first NaNo (2013 because I'm a slacker) I managed to give myself Pavlovian conditioning because I listened to the same song every time I went to write, for the entire time that I was writing. So ever since then whenever that song pops up on my "everything" playlist I sit up straighter and go "I should be writing right now" until I realize that I'm doing it and laugh.

That's true too! If I don't have a specific idea in mind for a scene, I tend to listen to upbeat songs like dubstep and such -- things that don't have a theme but are energetic.

I've never actually managed to do that though, since I tend to jump around with my music xD even just listening to music normally I'll change right in the middle of the song because I'm just like "okay I'm done with this lol"

I tune it out? Like... I hear it, but I don't realize I've been listening to the same thing for 2 hours until I'm done writing and take my earbuds out and everything seems so quiet. Yours is probably a healthier method, lol!

Sometimes I do that, if I really, really like the song but otherwise my attention just flutters all over the place too much for me to focus too long on one song :'D

Sounds legit XD I think my problem is if the music changes too much, I start focusing on it and not the story... but if the same song is constant, I have something to listen to but it's not distracting to me because it's unchanging. I wonder if it's something to do with my ADD... I never thought about it before XD

Also - I finally posted up the first bit of my Inquisition fanfic on AO3 last night ^^ Pretty stoked about that! Now I have to complete the re-writes on the second part so I can post that soon... but blech, re-writes!

- I should train myself to do that! lol. There's certain music that always makes me want to draw, but haven't found anything that works for writing yet. I usually write to instrumentals or the rainy mood when I'm writing, but I've found recently that I work better with no background noise, and I don't like not having background noise.

I hope you find something that works ^^ I get to the point where silence is oppressive... and my fiancee hates having no background noise in general, so she's more likely than not to have the tv on even if neither of us is watching it, and so if I don't have headphones in then I'm undoubtedly going to get distracted by the tv. The problems of living with another person...? LOL

It might be, I use the songs as background noise like I do with youtube videos; I've gotten pretty good at toning things out when necessary xD

And that's good! I can't help myself and usually rewrite and edit while I'm still trying to write my chapters, it's a habit I can't break lmao I know I should just write it all and then go back, but I lose track of thoughts and edits in my mind so much that it's just safer for me to do it then and there :x

I wrote some stuff a few weeks ago for the sake of getting it down, but I ended up not liking it when I went back and re-read it in prep of "officially" posting it. So it's not necessarily editing... it's full re-write :/ Which is the one thing I am the most terrible at, naturally! LOL Ultimately it comes down to only about 5 pages, but it still feels pretty daunting. I envy you the ability to do it easily!

I wouldn't say I do it easily, once I start that downward spiral of sitting there and editing, the chapter can end up going a completely opposite direction than I actually want it to xD

LOL I both love and hate when that happens... on one hand, "dangit that's not what I was going for!" and on the other hand, "THIS IS A REALLY COOL IDEA I'MA RUN WITH IT"

But then you have to work that into what you've already written... and then you have to re-write more things... ew XD
