- Derp derp, I have to do that too! Steampunk would be fun, my sister is writing a steampunk type novel I think, but I'm probably just gonna stick to my Fantasy.
I've been looking at my schedule and debating if I have time to do nano full on or not, but I think I'm going to do it anyway and see how far I get.
I've got a new idea (or at least a twist on a very old one?) that I'm hoping to explore, and build on, and see where it goes. I am planning on cheating a bit though and doing short stories and world building type stuff rather than an actual novel this time around. The novel can come later after all of that's done. :P
- sounds like a good plan to me. I'm going to Florida for a week and a bit right in the middle of Nano, so that will be interesting, but I still plan on doing it. It's always good to get some words on the paper even if it's not 50k or no a whole novel :D
Exactly. ^^ I'll take some words on paper over no words on paper any day!
(Also, November sounds like an excellent time to go find some Florida sun. Have fun with that!)
I tried in 2012, but it didn't work out (I got to 600 words). I'm trying again this year, with my bestie, so we kick each other in the ass when we wind up on tumblr. I probably won't reach the goal, but it'll fun to try.
Yeah, I think I'll do that, thanks for the idea. :) I'll start planning the characters while there's still time. I actually got a couple of ideas while I rode the train last week, and it's got me super excited about NaNo! :D
I tried last year with a writing block after a week. But I'll try again now that I've been practicing my writing! And thanks for the "write or die" and "writen? kitten!" links! And I want to try some word wars too!
(Can someone tell me what ML means, please?)
Happens the same to me, having all the time these days and been blocked last year.
Although my girfriend has a present and won't give it to me unless I finish the NaNo so... I'm going to do it. I hope that having a less planned plot will be easier for me. And happening in the real world and not an imaginary one.
I need a writing buddy I think ;A; Better if we write trhough NaNo mail, so I'll enter the site eeeeveryday just to see if someone replied to my mails. (I'm bopip there :3)
- ML is municipal liaison, basically they are the people who have volunteered to be the organizers of events and fundraising four your local community during nanowrimo. :) GL with your novel this year! If you ever get stuck, this thread is full of people with fun inspiration and idea.
- sounds like a good plan. Train rides are great for brainstorming. Unfortunately my sister will be unable to do Nano this year because of work :( hopefully I'll be able to get her to write more anyway!
My region's kick-off party is tomorrow! Dang, it be gettin real!
I can make an account there! Just give me a reminder closer to the 1st :p
Don't worry if you don't want to reate an account there (more stress, mayb, idk) but we can be writing buddies anyway ^w^
I tried Camp NaNo this past July and I've tried to start NaNo every year since '09 but I STILL haven't completed a novel (or anything close). I'm hoping this November might be different, but I'm afraid to get my hopes up 😣
So I decided to participate and write out my fantasy novel that keeps adding new details to its plot. Excited! I have a word document with planning and names, and I'm kinda ready, and hopefully I won't give up halfway through. Because there is a chance for that.
- Awesome, sounds like you are good and ready! I hope you don't give up!
I had a feeling I'd see you doing this again this year :)
- Yup. my goal is to finish one of my stories this year! Haha.
Good luck!! I'm writing book three of the series I started for last year's NaNo. Scary!
- Cool. Why 3? Did you write books one and two last nano?
I wrote the first one during NaNo 13, and the second during the August Camp NaNo 14 :)
- Nice. My Camp nano this year I did world building for an online RP a couple of friends and I want to start. My goal was only 10k words.
Yeah, my Camp goal was only 10k as well. I hit 15k during the Camp and kept writing out in outline form after that. So I have the whole thing mapped - and the second novel is kind of weird in the timeline anyway, so it doesn't matter if it's done or not.
Basically I took the main antagonist from the first book, mapped out his family, and then decided to kidnap one of his younger brothers to be the protagonist of the second story in a completely different part of the world. It starts during the end of the first book and ends somewhere around the middle of the third book. So it's really more parallel than sequential. Since it's in a totally different area, there will only be faint callbacks to it and even then in a very vague way.
