A movie I love and adore that I for one know, like nobody knows about, I have literally met ONE person aside from my parents who has seen this movie., its called KRULL. My name is taken from this movie, I was named after the princess, its a scared name in the movie. It has magicians, a cyclops, a band of thieves, Fire Horses [they run so fast they leave a trail of fire behind them] a roaming EVIL castle, with its EVIL king. And so much more!!! Its an epic fantasy movie like no other. It was made in 1983, so the effects are pretty bad, but for their time i think they are good. Its totally worth seeing if you ask me. It forever holds a special place in my heart.
It's probably not even this obscure, but nobody I know has ever heard of it but Outragrous fortune with bette midler and shelly long - I love this movie, never fails to make me laugh! ^_^
I've seen 'Krull'. I prefer 'Clash Of The Titans' for cheezy early 80's fantasy, but it's not bad. :)
Also MST3K: The Movie is a good intro if you haven't seen the series.
Love is all you need.
That would make you the 2nd person I have ever met that has seen it. Although i do agree with the early Clash of the Titans, thats a major cheezy 80's Fantasy, but sometimes its hard for me to get into, unlike KRULL which no matter what, I can stop what Im doing and watch and enjoy. I wish more new about it XD
I love the movie Come And See (or 'Idri i smotri'.) It's very depressing, though. But the camera work and child actors are amazing. The first 10 minutes or so are kinda...weird, I almost turned it off. But after that...it's worth it. It's a Russian WWII movie from the eighties.
The Happiness of the Katakuris by Takashi Miike is the weirdest movie I've ever seen. It's a horror movie parody Japanese style, with singing zombies, and even a karaoke part! Especially the ending is amazingly weird! Made me very happy though :) Here is the weird, really weird trailer
And for tv-series, I really like Psychoville. It was an impulse buy, I'd never heard of it, but it was cheap so I thought I'd try it. It's so funny! British comedy, combined with horror elements and lame, sarcastic, black humour. It has a grumpy clown with a hook hand and a blind, old man who collects beanie babies. I love it.
Probably any TCM classic because not many people watch those anymore. xD I found Neptune's Daughter particularly endearing because Red Skelton was hilarious in that one.
As for more current movies, Coherence flew under the radar. Mr. Nobody too until it finally got released in the US... maybe it's more popular now.
I'm not sure how many people have heard or seen Moon but it was one of my favorite 'off the radar' movies. Very good plot line. I recommend that one to be watched without reading up anything about it.
And if you like thinkers watch Memento. It had a very interesting story line and left me thinking about the entire movie at the end of it. Again I have no idea of it's popularity - I just had never really heard about it until I watched it.
I also liked Safety Not Guaranteed because, I mean, who doesn't love Aubrey Plaza? But it was a really nicely thought out movie with an ending you either love or find silly. I'm not usually one for slightly romantic dramas, but I still enjoyed it!
actually told me about Coherence & it was great! So I double recommend that one!

Robot and Frank. I don't know anyone who has seen it but I really love it. It's actually on netflix now if anyone wants to check it out.
Chopper. Film based on a real criminal with some nice dark humour. Maybe it's popular in Australia, as it's an Aussie film, but certainly not here.
Man Bites Dog. Fake documentary following a serial killer. Again some dark comedy. Belgian film, and black and white (to make it arty)
A Bullet for the General. Spaghetti/Zapata western, one of my favourites. American agent infiltrates a group of Mexican bandits during the revolution.

The Gay Diplomat!!! I don't think much people know it because it's from 1931 ;-; But first time I saw it, I fell in love with it! I so wish to watch it again...
Has to be McLintock starring John Wayne - politically incorrect but hilarious
I've actually never seen that. I've heard it referenced I believe on MST3K, but that's about it.
Love is all you need.
I found "Aaah! Zombies!!" on Netflix a few years ago. It doesn't have a good rating online and was sort of in the dregs of the unknown-movies, but I thought it was amazing. I showed it to some other people and they seemed to really like it too.
Ah yes, the under-told zombie perspective :)
If you think you'd like a serious (WARNING: gory) take on the zombie perspective, you might like 'A Ride In The Park', one of the short films from the otherwise mediocre V/H/S/2.
Love is all you need.
I've seen 'We Are What We Are', I was actually surprised at how good it was. Definitely not for the squeamish though. Perhaps best seen before 'The Book Of Eli' or 'Ravenous', which are also not for the squeamish.
Love is all you need.
Sunshine (2007), with Chris Evans and Cillian Murphy. The sun is dying and earth sends a group of people with a huge bomb towards it, to reignite it. I'm horrible at summaries, sorry, but it's my absolute favourite movie and it's totally worth watching! btw, Brian Cox was the "consultor" for the physics part ;)
I finally got around to watching 100 Bloody Acres which you recommended to me, and it was really great! My boyfriend loved it too. :P
How I Live Now is such a beautiful movie. I expected like... horrible teen drama and stuff, but it was so much better than that.
I love Sunshine, but the ending ruined pretty much everything. D: SPOILER (click to toggle)
I mean, the movie just didn't need an evil monster, it would've worked much better without the Pinbacker character.
