Morning from Europe! Another office day and then I'm done for the week. I don't particularly wanna go in today, I slept badly and feel like a zombie, but I can work from home the rest of the week, so... worth it! I might pull a half-day today though. Come home at midday.
My boss told us not to do that but she's not in! So nobody around to stop me.
And I do love when Drills gives me something cute to wear, but honestly 30 quests is just... a lot. Too much. I do like a lot of things he has me do though, I could play Subeko (Subeta / Sudoku) and feed worries to Oatmeal all day haha.
Ugh I hate going to work when I'm exhausted and don't sleep well too. Don't get in trouble but do what you need to do for yourself!!
Slots and Leviathan Harpooning are the most time consuming of his quests to me. Subeku is the next since you have to finish it to win. I use all the hints and use the easiest level. I also do the easiest level for the sliding game and I almost always turn down "play with your pet" ones - except sometimes the first - if my pet's mood is 9/10 I can do the first one. Which, if I have to feed it first then that doesn't happen. I always choose the fastest of either/or quest choices, and do the least amount possible for things like Pete Says :P Because you don't have to WIN those, you just have to PLAY them.
Class tonight and I checked my email. My teacher has graded those two assignments I turned in. (the annoying philosophy and the guiding question) Full points. As usual. I don't know why I stress over it so much. I swear I didn't feel like that philosophy was worth full points. But I'm not arguing!! :P
Introducing the new and improved Shassy Any suggestions on a new minion? I was debating one of the ones in his treasure....not one of the ones that are a complete set tho. One of the random ones. But I also was thinking maybe more of a chinese dragon type pet or just a dragon type pet instead.
Hello improved Shassy! Looking great ❤️ I'm for dragon minion for sure! Some of my favorite options:
In that order haha, but see for yourself what you like of course!
I decided I'll stick it out at the office a little longer, but finish work early today. I write up my hours so I will write up less hours today and catch up in home office the rest of the week. I'm not paid by the hour, but I can use overtime to compensate additional days off, so that's all completely within the book of Allowed Things haha.
Also was idly considering a change to my Username. Would be nice to have only one word as Username and it looks like "Raspberry", my second favorite berry, isn't taken yet 😆🍓
Quick edit: the second dragon I listed, Huolong, is going for 50 million 😱 the other two are wayyy more affordable haha
Hah and you'll still be Berry ;) I changed my username a few years ago.
Ooh those are good choices. Hmm. That 2nd one is on my wishlist for the minion zoo, and he's super expensive, so he's kind of out for now. But the other two.... Hmmm....Oh! I already have the rreignworm in my sale shop - so I might go with that choice!! Plus it looks the most like Shassy anyway. Baby Shassy LOL
[edit] 1020am Editing GELDS is so frustrating. This is one reason why I want to KEEP all my lesson plans, and then just pick/choose from previous activities. All the GELDS will already be included. sigh I still have at least one more week to start planning anything at all for, but these other 3 weeks I have mostly done, its the GELDS getting me. I found books and activities and since I do not have the books WITH me I'm not sure which GELDS match, so I have to wait on that until I can go get them from the school library.
Yeees but also spending 1000 CSC seems so frivolous to me! Maybe at some point, no rush I figure. And if someone takes Raspberry then that means I get to save for the November cash shop sale some more instead, not a bad thing at all!
Happy to help with minion selection :D subetalodge has very neat lists of minions, I like browsing those, so it's genuinely a pleasure, even more so if it was useful.
Hecking GELDS! That sounds frustrating, but you can do it, I have full faith.
I overate a bit on my dinner and now I'm half-lying and half-sitting in my chair 8) finishing work early and taking a little nap was good for me, I feel refreshed mentally. AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE EVENT! I'm sure it'll be a blast, I heard the forums are probably a lot more active too! Should be cool!
It is a good bit of CSC. I had my username forever it felt like, but I finally decided I wanted something else. My original username was my nickname from my dad, and I used it for everything but I just really wasn't known by it on here, once everyone learned my name, so I changed it to my current name, which was what most people were calling me :)
class is over. No more zooms. yay. Three BIG assignments to turn into that class before the 26th (one on the 22nd, one on the 24th and the last by the 26th). I have one of them pretty much already done. The other two shouldn't hopefully be too hard and I plan to get them done by the end of the week. And there is one more discussion for this class.
Then its back to focusing on the student teaching class and those dang GELDS (which, if you are not aware, GELDS are standards of learning for PreK and younger students - like "the child can use writing tools" "the child can name the parts of a book and knows to read words from left to right, top to bottom" and "child can count to 10, with one-to-one correspondence" and social stuff too like "child chooses own activities" "actively participates with friends" etc.) I'm supposed to include a variety of them on the lesson plans, not just ONLY literacy or math GELDS.
I stumbled over this dress and had to make a new HA!
It's so strawberry, I love it! :D
Morning all, today I am feeling grumpy, and I do not really know why. It's probably work-related. I really do not want to be working, but alas, I must! Early March I'll have vacation time, which should give me some room to breathe. In the meantime I gotta find my motivation somewhere and try not to expose innocent bystanders to my bad mood. Ergh!
GELDS sure sound tricky, Kat! And likely also unhelpful to your work and the kids you teach... maybe it's not as bad as I'm picturing, I feel in most jobs one has people meddling and making decisions that do not know what they are talking about and it just makes work unnecessarily complicated. But yay on no more Zooms!
Its more fitting the standard to what you are teaching thats tricky. With more experience, I'll be fine. I can generally find something that seems to fit. And in PreK we don't have to collect evidence (data) on every GELD, just specific strands (like the literacy and math). But in college I am expected to show more knowledge than will ever be used in actual work at a school (Something I discovered VERY early on) which is why I was struggling to match standards more perfectly and use more of them than I normally would pay attention to.
They are helpful, in a way. In other ways, its like, really? I have to keep track of that? Shouldn't that part be a parents job? But some kids don't get exposed to some things until they are in school and it does help to see if they are learning the skill. (such as social or emotional skills - some kids have NEVER had to share, they are an only child or the baby in their family and everything is just given to them and learning to wait, to take turns, to share things...its good to know if they are learning that skill)
And that statement is so very true. People meddling who don't know what they are talking about. Literally a month or so ago our principal (who SHOULD know) asked is when we were teaching sight words to the PreK kids. DECAL (the group in charge of PreK development/learning) clearly states that we do NOT teach sight words. We really aren't to even teach letters/sounds (phonics). Yet we do. Because the Kinder teachers NEED that taught and our principals and school districts/boards expect it also. Because "young children learn through play and social interactions" - yes they do, but the change from PreK to Kinder is a huge change for them. And they need to be prepared for that too.
Your HA is adorable. Sometimes one item is all it takes to spark a whole outfit, thats fun. And you are allowed to be grumpy and worn down. Take time for yourself, rest, do something you enjoy to pep yourself back up, and yes, that vacation time in March will surely help a lot!
edit: hmm I just noticed we aren't getting new year tokens on kumos anymore. So maybe that means Survival will start soon....
[edit] 1130am Whoooo see, this is what happens when I can concentrate. I have now completed two of those final three assignments due in the one class AND turned them in, and typed up and turned in the upcoming philosphy part 3 in the other class. Now to just continue working on those lesson plans as much as I can. Maybe I can get week 4 done. Still not sure if I want to do week 5, or just let my lead teacher take over again at that point. Its the week before Spring Break and we'll be having holiday stuff happening (namely an Easter Egg Hunt).....I could do it, but I think she would want to, if you know what I mean? The requirement is to do "3-5 weeks of solo-teaching". 4 weeks would be fine. I also need to start working on the PLP which is basically a portfolio of my work and explanations of how that work meet the TEACHER standards (not the GELDS kids standards, but like, certified teacher standards)
I hope we get Survival soon! I want to see what it's like already, haha :D patience has never been my strong suit... but I definitely do not mind the extra New Years tokens I've been collecting! The temptation to go wild in the New Years shop is very real!
Also woohoo Kat on being so productive! Great job!
That wasn't me today, but tomorrow is a new day. Hopeful it'll be a better day with a better feel to it. I gotta go and get ready for bed already, just wanted to quickly check in here before I go.
The good news is.. you CAN go wild in the New Years shop!
Way to go, Kat! You're always so productive. It's a little sick, honestly :P
I got up the power to get into the shower after work.. that was about all I've got in me I think :P
To be fair, ONE of those was pretty much complete last night, I just looked it over, tweaked it a little and turned it in. But then I did go cut down baby pines along the back fence by the back house - about 4-6 ft before I ended up with a blister on my thumb. I need to sharpen and oil the clippers.
And then I just sat and read on my tablet for a while.
Now I'm making chicken taquitos for dinner, sort of? Like, homemade ones using regular sized soft taco shells. I found a recipe. I'm trying it. Sounded good. I've found several very simple easy recipes I decided to try. I did one the other day but I think it would be better with beef or chicken chunks than with the lil smokies, but it was good. I also have plans to try another one by this weekend, but haven't decided which yet.
I am BEYOND ready for Survival to start. I'm ready to SMOOCH people (and bite them when I get a chance).
I'm ready for Survival to start so we can move on to MASQ!!
Ooooh chicken taquitos sound soooo good.
I may add those to my menu plan for next week...
We had fries and sauced chicken tenders tonight, because our pork chops weren't thawed out yet..
I'm gonna have an apple later, too :P
Didn't Masquerade get moved to AFTER Vesnali? Or am I mixing that up again and its Masq first, then Vesnali? I forget all the time now since they've moved crap around so much in the past few years - shifting it to this part of the month, into that month, extending it a week into yet another month... At least MOST things are still the same sigh
Either way. I enjoy the entire holiday season on here lol All the events :)
The taquitos were pretty good. I think they needed more cheese. I might try some beefy ones too someday soon.
Am debating watching some more house of the dragon. At least try and finish season one by the end of the week. I need to watch season two. I never watched more than the first episode of that, and the new season will be out before I know it LOL I did watch the new episode of Dunk and Egg. Am SO READY for the next episode, but thats not til Sunday. I really like Dunk and Egg. Its so much simpler and less dramatic and less .... incestuous :P
Morning, friends! Technically afternoon for me but I just had a little nap so it works 😆
Yes, Kat, gotta appreciate when the tv series isn't full of incest, that's an ick of mine haha. Never heard of Dunk and Egg though!
Also I read in the forums somewhere that the latest that Survival ever started was the 23rd. Any day now! Any day! Genuinely so excited after all the talk about it, can't wait.
And Mieke I'm having an apple right now. We're so connected /jk 😉🍏
My wardrobe is rapidly filling up. I'm already at 4000 items, and I'm impatient to reach Full Wardrobe so I can sort through it and have Only Things I Like in there!
Well Dunk and Egg are actually titled "Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" LOL But they've always been Dunk and Egg to me ever since I read the books. Its the newest tv series in Game of Thrones.
Yeah I kept browsing the forums to see if anyone said anything about it starting and I saw that too, so hopefully this weekend it will start!!
hahah yes. That full wardrobe achievement drove me bonkers. I hated having all the things in the wardrobe that I never wore. Even now I'll purge it out and I have less than 4 pages of items in there right now. I am very basic with my wardrobe though. (I made SO MUCH sP when I sold it all off too!!)
Oh I see! Good to hear that that's fun haha :D And yes fingers crossed for survival this weekend!
I am a hoarder AND a maximalist when it comes to clothes and accessories and STILL the wardrobe achievement is driving me a little bonkers! Dressing up my avatar is fun but going through items after items of things I never want to wear, bleh! I'm thinking my wardrobe will be big even after I clean it, I do want a lot of variety and costumes as well, because there's so many fun things I can do.
Subeta allows me to become a chicken (and basically any other being as well) and that's just awesome. I might be a chicken for Vesnali! And I was also thinking whether I could pull off an outfit remniscient of Sandy from Spongebob Squarepants (so, a squirrel in an astronaut suit underwater with a flower on the helmet), and other characters as well I could do, from cartoons and shows and comics. In the recycling shop there's Wolverine hair, for example, and that with a muscle shirt... it's mostly very silly but I'm having fun!
I also tried participating in HA contests but sometimes I would just submit a blank avatar instead of the outfit I put together for it, and that annoyed me even more than a wardrobe half-full of stuff I don't want 8D
Today it feels like I can focus on work and do things. Whew. I'm glad for it, I hate when I feel I don't progress, and yesterday was such a day, where I just couldn't get shit done.
Ooh hahah yea I can just see some of those outfits. It is fun to put some things together. I love seeing everyone's outfits when they create them. I just...don't care to do it myself so much.
I've just about finished everything on here, I'm finishing up drills quests. Then I guess I will have to go work on my PLP assignment or the weekly lesson plan for week 4 or something....be a bit productive today school-wise. - I did email my teacher my lesson plan for lesson plan 2 (sight words in small groups) to get her approval. I have a tiny bit left to finish on that (theories/research and assessment creation plus pictures) and then I have to teach the lesson, record the assessments and input the data/reflection before turning it in (its due March 8th)
[edit] Friday - 920 am Well. All done with all quests on both sites. And done with all other activities (vending, pricing shops, fragging). Guess its time to move onto school work. Professor approved lesson plan 2 pending lead teacher approval so thats good. I need to do PLP. I kind of looked at it yesterday and felt frustrated so didn't do it. I need to look over all my old assignments and comments from teachers in all my old classes and maybe that will help. (I found out I can do that! I was amazed. But that will be SO HELPFUL - I had saved some comments and what assignments they were from - as all the assignments were saved in my online space for school - but being able to go to the specific class I think and look at OTHER assignments I didn't think about saving info from should help a lot)
Hello! It's Friday (woohoo) and I got paid (woohoo)! Weekend is off to a good start.
I'll admit, for me the fashion / customizing HA aspect was what got me to come to Subeta. Someone mentioned the site as a good "fashion game" fix on another site and I needed to come check it out. And the wardrobe aspect really is lovely! I've browsed the achievements today and there's so many wardrobe-related ones, I didn't even realize. Specific achievements for having finger accessories, for having wings, balloons, etc etc! I'll be at this for a while, but at the same time, I collect achievements without even trying some days, which is also nice.
The one achievement I've been biting my teeth out on is the Ziara Raceway achievement - get to the finish line on hard mode. I got close! But never made it (so far!).
Also, is it normal to lose money on Item Hunt?
Yay Kat for finding things that make your lesson plans easier!
Ehh for item hunt, I think it depends on what level you are at. I often lose sP in the first few levels (like 1-10) but after that I don't normally lose sP. And at the point where I am asked for more expensive items, I give up and start over. I refuse to compete Item Hunt, because once you do, you can't do it anymore and its a good profit maker in higher levels. (Over 50). But you do have to be careful. Sometimes I will risk a slightly more expensive item, since i know I can still get plenty of profit....but you never know what you'll get asked for next, it could be another expensive item or even a more expensive one and then you lost sP AND have to quit hahah At least that is how it is for me. Everyone plays their own way.
I honestly don't play a lot of the video game type games anymore. Sometimes Matlat's Jewels or the card game type ones.
The PLP isn't a lesson plan, sadly. Its more of a ... portfolio type thing ... of my work so far and an explanation of why that work meets the "teacher" standard I put it under. And those are VERY specifically worded and a pain to figure out exactly what of my work is usable in each slot AND I have to have multiple sources of my work for each section! ARGH. I have like, three teacher comments in there so far and I can't show the work for it because it was a stupid flipgrid assignment from two years ago that I can't log back into. Eh. But the comment will hopefully be enough with MY comment, plus I'll find some actual work I can take a picture of to add - I HOPE. (its a 3 page document WITHOUT anything inserted into it!!)
Oh, understood! I gathered you're an achievement hunter and figured you would dive into games for the sake of those - but if it wasn't for achievements or some quick sP needed on hand (Burrero Basket Bonanza, Matla's Jewels and Ziara Raceway are the ones I go to for those), Caliph's Tomb would likely be the only game I would play. It's the only game I regularly play the max amount on here for sure, I love a good Solitaire-inspired card game. Card Crusade is excrutiatingly dull however, if you have tips for that let me know :D
Alright, seems I've been doing Item Hunt wrong - you say it's not good to complete it? You can only get to level 100 once? Interesting, good to know!
And damn, yeah, that PLP sounds tough. These standardized things are so rarely actually helpful. Fingers crossed the comments are going to be enough! What a pain that it references old work you can't access anymore.
