Hi I also crochet. Never liked knitting. I have a cabinet of yarn I share with my mom who I live with. Still have to go get new yarn for certain projects.
sorry your pet is poorly.
So I have been poorly. Hurting all over but my shoulder killing me. Went to the ER Thursday I think because GP said to check for heart attack and stroke when my left hand was numb. Neither. It was complex migraine. Anyway. Got iv migraine buster combo which didn’t work and scans. Going to make some appointments now.
Latest crochet
My outfit for the con was my OC but I made the top green and the pants brown.

Hi ! I love your latest crochet project! It's adorable! I am only making blankets and scarves right now, but I really, really want to learn to make stuffies, especially for when I have kids. I feel like making them is more sentimental than buying the ones from the store.
I started crocheting when I was little, but I never liked the texture of the yarn my grandmother would use, so I never continued with it. Recently, she passed away, and I wanted to continue with an activity that she enjoyed doing, so I tried it again, but this time with fluffy yarn, and I love it now. My parents want me to make throw blankets for the living room out of that yarn, so that is another project I have to start at some point, lol.
I moved on to knitting when I started to play SIMS 4. They had cross-stitch and knitting activities, and I had always wanted to try them. I made two baby blankets, and I was so proud of myself because I had never finished a project before.
Hi !
I hated needles since I was a child, and when I started cross-stitch, I tended to stab my figures a lot. I can do that, but I still can't prick my finger for a blood sugar test LOL.
I would never have imagined being a nurse or anything in the medical field because of the gore and needles. But I can safely say I am in the medical field as a career, and have been doing great with needles. I work as a phlebotomist, but I still can not watch my own blood work, LOL. I tell that to all my patients who can't look, and they are all shocked because I do it for a living.
I have never heard of the Dunes series. Who is it by?
I mainly go from reading dark romance to fantasy. I just finished reading ACOTAR and Hunting and Haunting Adeline, which I loved and will reread at some point.
I'm a huge Dark Romance reader.
Dune was originally written by Frank Herbert. After his death Brian Herbert took to adding to the series. The basic premise is that there's the planet Dune that has the only supply of a very powerful drug that the rest of the galaxy needs for various reasons. From expanding mental abilities to space travel.
The original Dune novel was recently adapted into two movies by Denis Villeneuve in 2021 and 2024.
While I love the series, God Emperor of Dune is an extremely low point. If the characters were enjoyable I wouldn't mind the slow pacing. One problem is that Frank's sexism and homophobia make for some bad scenes when nothing is going on. Like I finally get another scene with my man Duncan Idaho but he's crying that homosexuality should be outlawed and another character tells him to calm down as gays make for super soldiers. And this scene goes on for AT LEAST 5 PAGES!
For romance books I gravitate towards Reverse Harem. I don't like love triangles so the girl getting all the guys is my sweet spot.
I'm dabbling in the darker romance books.
Dune sounds interesting. I'll have to look into that series. But I am on a book-buying ban right now, LOL. I have too many books on my TBR.
The scene sounds like I won't like it if it lasts for five pages. I get bored very easily, and I jump from thing to thing.
Reverse Harem is my jam! I just got into a Kindle book called "Friends With The Monsters" and "Some Kind of Monster" by Albany Walker. It's definitely a good read if you're into smut and reverse harem. Plus, the plot is good if you can get past the smut LOL.
It's not the only scene like that. Plus that's not counting how Leto II will wax philosophy to the point it doesn't seem like he has a character of his own and we're expected to think he's wise.
The other books in the series do have slow points but at least the characters were interesting. Messiah of Dune revolved around an assassination plot on Paul and the dangers to his wife's unborn children.
I love me some smut and cheesey romance =D
Messiah of Dune sounds like an interesting read, but that other book you said I might have to skip, lol, sounds way too dry for me.
What dark romance books have you read? I have many recommendations if you're interested.
If I wasn't trying to finish the series I would have stopped reading it XD
I need to continue reading the Dark Fae series. Just got through the first book and moved to other books XD
I also read Taste Me (Immortal Vices and Virtues: Her Monstrous Mates Book 5).
Had to go through my kindle unlimited library XD
I have a hard time getting through a series.
I really want to read the Zodiac Academy, but it's a lot of books, and I get bored fast, so I would have to stop after a few and go back into it.
Taste me sounds good. Is that one on Kindle? That might be my next book, LOL. Oh, wait. I wanted to read Kiss of the Basilisk after I'm done with the Harbinger series. I'm almost done with that series. I have, I think, six Chapters left of the second book, and then I'm onto the last book.
Do you like mystery and romance? The Naturals series is great! I could not put it down at all. It's about a group of teens who have different powers who get recruited by the FBI to solve cold cases. It's super good, plus there's a little romance in the mix, too. But not smut, though. :( LOL.
Dune was not my jam. So very political and it got super drawn out for me. I barely made it through book one.
I am working on my local library challenge ultimate book nerd. I read three books at once being a print book, an audio book, a digital book. Right now I am reading A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal, A Sorceress Comes to Call by T Kingfisher, and Beacons in the Darkness: Hope and Transformation Among America’s Community Newspapers by Dave Hoekstra.
So a book talked about by a favorite author, a book from npr list of books they loves, and a history of the news.
A tempest of tea and a sorceress comes to call are both good fantasy.
I could never do three books at once. I have read two tho. One is a paperback and the other is a digital book. Depending on my mood that day, depends on what books I read.
I never heard of those fantasy books. I can see my TRB growing bigger with each chat LOL.
The first Dune book was going at lightning speed compared to God Emperor of Dune. At least in the first Dune book there was the anticipation of a Harkonnen attack and later a rebellion. The book I'm reading has...words...nearly 600 pages worth of words.
But, yeah, the first Dune book really lingers on the anticipation and takes its time.
I tried reading multiple books at once when I was younger and just couldn't do it.
It's taken me years to get where I am in the Dune series. I'm starting to read another book before continuing with the next entry in the series. It's like giving myself a cookiee for a job well done XD
So I'm trying to keep to standalone romances for now or, if they're in a series, you don't have to read the other books.
Taste Me is on Kindle Unlimited :)
I'm horrible at solving mysteries but if they have a good cast of characters I'm in. With teens...I'm okay with no smutt XD
and I loved the Dune series, but only read God Emperor 1x. And barely that. I so agree with you. The rest were good. I even enjoyed Chapterhouse about the Bene Gesserit. I really liked the latest movie remakes. They were well done. Dune: Prophecy was interesting too. I really love scifi. I can watch movies unless they have strobe lights and stuff like that. But I can't read much anymore because it causes migraines.
Is that crochet baby Groot? So cute whoever he is. And I love the colored sketch. :) How awful for you tho with the complicated migraines. That was one of my diagnoses too. So hard to deal with but I'm lucky and grateful I haven't had any bad episodes in a while. Knocks on wood quick. And then again just for good measure... I hope your terrible symptoms go away soon and you get a break. God knows you need one! <3
New board looks awesome! Just watched trailer on Final Destination Bloodlines, I'll add that to my ever growing watch list. I just bookmarked the pages of your novels lol. I hope you had a fun time at comic con, I hope you were able to wear the outfit! your Crochet, is awesome so cute. I am sorry you are suffering from migraines no fun, My Ophthalmologist says I am suffer from ocular migraines, I had to take an LOA. WAH blue screen bothers my eyes right now their supposed to set me up with an appointment for an neurologist. Fun, Migraines are TERRIBLE! , I hope you are doing well! Never put yourself down, we need Pharmacy as well as nursing, and don't let your work make you feel like a number, because you are not! I hope your health is doing better! Try not to work to hard! Emory I used to be a CNA lol so I know some of what your dealing with. Hats off to you. Sorry Meez is having so many problems, I hope he feels better soon. Welcome, this is an awesome group!
You know my pain! I read it when I was a teen but forget everything about it. Don't know how I did that but...eh...
I've been meaning to watch Dune Prophecy but I keep putting it off. Why watch a series I'm interested in when I can scour streaming services for obscure horror movies?
I have vertigo which does limit my ability to read. I try to do at least 10 pages a night.
Sex scenes fall flat if the wrong words are used. It honestly just takes you out of the moment. I read erotica from time to time so I've seen...unique words used.
You mean my Kafka's Men series or my fanfic series? In either case: =D
Oh, I watched Heart Eyes recently and it's amazing. It's a romantic comedy/slasher with all the tropes and cliches of both genres. Missed it in theaters but saw it on Netflix.
I'll have to look at heart eyes, with my ocular migraines I have trouble reading regular books so when I read I listen to Audio Books, I love Dragons Dracula books, why not write some novels about that, what I like about short novels I can read them in a day or 2 and not bother my eyes to much. Getting older stinks sometimes lol but I am blessed to be alive!
