So. Registration and Insurance cancelled on the xterra. If my brother fixes it I can reinstate it before my birthday w/ no extra cost. So now I'm saving $100 a month on insurance. Insurance for Mazda supposed to go up $15 because its now a single car policy instead of multi-car.
Can begin registering for classes at Mercer tomorrow (will call the school maybe Monday afternoon, since the lady said she'd register me automatically but to check in with her, and I emailed her last week but never got a response from her) - got an email from the registration office about registration a few days after I'd emailed her.
Also scheduled Nathans fillings and 6m apt - umm how is July 6months from October? But eh. Whatever. His fillings are in March. Unless they have a cancellation. Also called my contractor again. Left a message. Again. I did talk to a person on the 10th of Oct, but they said they'd talk to HIM and get back to me and haven't. I'd like my windows fixed and the siding too please, before the weather gets much colder. Its already in the 30s this week!! (at night/early morning)
And now I've got 10-20 min before leaving to get supper and go to in person class. yay.
Thanks Kat!
Well, at least that's still an $85 savings?!
Had to drop Lily off at school at 4:30 this morning, I'm tired :P
Eh, somewhere between that and $100. The xterra was 109 before. The mazda was 231 before (after adding Nathan). Now the mazda is supposed to be 245 (I still have yet to get a new bill - my bill still says 185 which is the old price for BOTH cars before Nathan).
I hated early morning drop offs for anything (like trips) no matter how special they were. I was always tired. The kid was always tired. But they always had fun, so I guess that is what matters.
Well, that's a good discount then! Totally worth it!
Ughhh yes. It's been a long day haha. So we got up at 4:15, dropped her off at the school, they had a pep rally from 5-6:30 am.. apparently they had marching band group naptime from 6:30-7, and the cheerleaders fell asleep on the stage in the auditorium haha.
I had work, ended up staying an extra hour (unpaid, but whatever), then went to go pick up pictures of the dog and came home and made dinner.. ran some up to Lily on our way to go see Akiras marching band revue (PS, they suck). Lily didn't answer her phone or anything thoguh.., turns out she was sound asleep on the floor with her phone under her head and still didn't wake up. She ended up getting it though.
So they had practice right after school, then the football game.. which we won! 40-0! Making us District 2 Single A champions, and we're playing somewhere 2.5 hours away next week :P But it's still very exciting!
Well so at class last night. We played musical chairs sigh But it was cooperative musical chairs. We ended up sharing one chair for four people at the end. LOL We did show & tell of our art pieces, I was the only one who did Van Goh, the other 3 did Picasso (and the other 3 were not present in class). Umm oh yea, we played a tag game called Fish and Shark. The fish had scarves stuffed into their sleeve and the shark had to catch them and then it became the fish and the person who lost their scarf became the shark. We had to walk tho, no running allowed. And then we did relaxation techniques on the floor. Yay. She did tell us to bring blankets, but I didn't see the email til I was already AT the school - lucky I had a blanket in my car from the BBQ at the principals house the other weekend LOL! I actually liked the relaxation techniques and will try to do that if/when I get my own classroom because the breathing and tightening/loosening of the muscles really does calm you down and if it makes the kids go to sleep faster, I'd like that hahahah!!!
Today I went to my professional development training. I played some more. The class was M in STEM - but we went over a good bit of stuff. We fished plastic animals out of water using pipe cleaners, rubber bands and string. We then made a zipline from those materials plus we could use paperclips and binder clips, and had to put a "harness" on one of the animals and make them go down the zipline. We played with colored water on wax paper squares and watched how we could move it around with the little pipette just by dragging it. We also counted out how many drops of water it took to overflow the bubble created with water (gently) dropped on a penny (way more than you think!!) We created a "tightrope" walker out of a popsicle stick, two nuts (metal, bolt type) and pipe cleaner. We made a paper glider. Umm oh yea, we had to build a tall tower out of straws and tape and see if it could hold up a tennis ball "minion" - ours held it up in the end but wasn't the tallest. I wonder if making my "problem" child hold a tightrope walker as he walks down the hallway will help him behave? But then all the other kids will want one LOL The instructors said that one teacher said they went back and actually did that. Made one for ALL their kids and had them walk down the hall with them, to keep them occupied and quiet while walking, since they had to concentrate to not let it fall off their finger!!
Oh and its not even my football team, but I am proud of your football team!! That is quite the accomplishment! AWESOME JOB!
Ooooh, some of those are really great ideas!
Cooperative musical chairs, WHAT?!
Haha, we're proud of them, too! Two years in a row we've beaten this team for the title. They're going to be maaaaaad next year!
Iz did Christmas pictures this morning and I can't WAIT to see them, I think they may be the best pictures she's ever done!
Yea, so after taking the first chair instead of basically saying "you're out, you don't have a chair to sit in (you lose)" you say "Mieke needs a chair to sit in" and encourage a child to allow another child to sit with them in their chair. Then play that way for a while, with just 2 kids sharing 1 chair...then eventually take another chair - so you have 4 kids sharing and so on. But obviously I don't think I'd go too far - not beyond just 2 kids sharing one chair. (so like end up with 10 chairs for the 20 kids in my classroom for example) - MAYBE if the group was very cooperative, up to 3 kids per chair by the END of the year! :) The teacher said that at one training she went to they did it as an ice breaker and ended up with 4 chairs, and 500 people "sitting" on each other laps (not really sitting, but squatting-like over the lap of the next persons lap) in two lines from each side of the room that met in the middle. LOL I CANNOT imagine!!
Oooh nice! Only Iz this time?
IDK, that game sounds disastrous hahahaa. But maybe that's just me :P
Just Iz! El is at a conference and Lily was at state championships!
I think as long as you don't have too many kids sitting in one chair (like I said, 3 max if they are VERY cooperative/nice with each other - some kids are) it would be ok. I would NOT try to get all 20 kids sitting in one chair hahahah! :P NOPE. There will of course, be some kids that WILL NOT share - the little one I often talk about would probably be like that "NO! THIS IS MYYYYYY CHAIR!!!"
Went and played games with my neighbor. We played my Mario Gamer Monopoly games. :D Actually, she came over earlier this afternoon and we played SkipBo first - then after dinner I went over there and we played Mario LOL
Ahh but you didn't try to find a time all 3 could do it? Or decided nope just Iz this time? I mean, like I get that the other two are older anyway....but I think Katie would always be up for a photo with Santa if I asked her to LOL The boys, maybe not so much.
We were just doing Iz for this one anyway, and I scheduled them (and paid for them!) back in April.
Soooo there was really no finding a good time that worked for everyone regardless haha.
We're taking them all to do pictures too though, I think we might go to the selfie studio?
Oooh ok :) Iz deserves alone pictures anyway.
I always regret not getting a few more sessions of JUST Nathan...I have so many more of the older two kids. I just couldnt' afford it for him - as walmart studios closed and that was the cheapest which is why I had so many of the other two lol
JCPenny is just a BIIIIIT more expensive ;)
Oh that reminds me. I took down the "family" photos (those involving Ryan) and put up some others. I found different sizes of just ME with Shane, with Shane & Katie and an older one of me with all 3 kids, plus my new one I just did back last Christmas. :) So my timeline wall is now me with my kids progression instead of the family progression.

Edit: 125pm Ok phew. I THINK I got all my assignments done. I will double check later :P But I am pretty sure. Its a bit weird tho, the "homework" assignment the new creative arts teacher gave us is not listed in the gradebook? I dunno. I'll ask her about it Thursday if it doesn't show up before then. Why do an assignment if it doesn't get graded right? I had to go to Lakeshore and Discount School Supply and make a cart for under $500 to create a music & movement center. FUN :P I had Raffi's Baby Beluga song stuck in my head all day yesterday after I looked at the sites. :P
Oh and looking at my photo after I uploaded it on here, I died laughing. Shane started out blond, now he is pretty dark haired. Nathan who started out dark haired is now blond(ish) at least in the most recent photo from last Christmas. Now his roots have grown out so he is like, half & half :P
I love the new photo wall, Kat! Does it make you happy to look at it, instead of the old ones?
ALSO.. I LOVE looking at the Lakeshore catalog, even if I never get anything (obviously :P)
Yes. Its not really even that the old photos made me UNhappy...but I felt they were no longer ... oh I don't know how to describe it. But anyway, yes. I'd rather have those off the wall and others up. So I did that change.
lol yes, its nice to look at and dream. The lead teacher gets a certain amount of $ each year to use for supplies so we browse sometimes and pick new items for the room rather than just paint/construction paper, etc type stuff. (which we do get that also). The last two years we've also EACH gotten $ to spend for the classroom due to exta $ from somewhere (I can't remember) not a lot, like $200 or $125 or something. So I got to pick some new stuff too! :) Then last spring they got $5000 room refresh money :o So we got new tables/chairs and a new kitchen set, plus some smaller things. I talked her into a highchair for the kitchen. We've had a baby bed, but I always felt like a high chair was needed as well. :P babydoll highchair, not real sized one of course lol
I was confused for a minute, then was like.. wait, it's not a real kitchen, so it's got to be a baby doll one :P
Last night was county band.. which is really two counties! So 8 schools, 185 band kids between junior and senior high. (Junior is actually 7/8/9th grade, senior is 10/11/12th). It's a really great learning experience for the kids, they start at 8:30 am and practice all together until the concert at 7. So they get to make new friends, and also learn from different directors and learn some new techniques, etc.
Oh yea, we've done that too. Chorus also does it, so Katie did it for chorus every year. She really enjoyed it. Its all highschool kids here tho, multi-county high schools. They do also do one with middle school chorus kids as well :) So two special events, one for our county only and one for multi-county highschools.
Yes, chorus does it here, too! And jazz,, and vocal jazz!
And yes, there's county band and chorus, which is the 8 schools, and then there's district band and chorus and jazz and vocal jazz, which are something like 25 or 45 schools? It's a very big deal to be chosen for them, at any rate :P
